What a thrill to hear this music after 40+ years. It evokes deep memories and feelings like a time capsule. Plus it’s an outstanding composition.
I love the theme of the Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. It takes me mentally back to a time early in my life where there were life was optimistic, full of adventure, and without many stresses.
One of my favorite TV shows when I was a kid ...and this theme song STILL thrills me!!!
+Soetami Koestomo I grew up in Tampa FL and still remember this sow on WTOG TV -44 St Petersburg FL as it was run on reruns.... Great memory and better TV than the garbage we see now!

It reminds me of my happy childhood - the suspense, the anticipation, then the delight of seeing Admiran Nelson on the great bow of his vessel, master of all he surveys -nothing matches this, for me!

when I hear the theme songs from tv series from the 60's, it really does take me back in time to that era.
I LOVE this theme, always have ever since I first heard it in the 60s.
This is why I love digital TV. The invaders, lost in space, the time tunnel, land of the giants, voyage to the bottom of the sea, all on an oldies channel. When network television was once fit to watch.
When I watched this show as a teenager in the 60's, there was no place I would rather be than in the control room and observation nose of the Seaview exploring the oceans, the ultimate adventure !!

My dad used to watch this on tv when I was a kid. I love the soundtrack - how it begins on a bright adventurous theme and mellows to a more gentle note. Thanks for posting this wonderful music; a beautiful submarine sinking into the depths of the sea.

Same here. That sound is so evocating of being out at sea (for reasons I can't explain, maybe because a similar sound/music was used before in other sea-based movies ?). When I bought the Irwin Allen TV Shows CD-Music set, I could NOT believe that the VOYAGE theme they put in there was a shortened version that did NOT include those precious seconds !
Absolutely! Me, too. And that calming passage was also reassuring that, no matter what scary things had happened in the show that week, everything was going to be fine. The orchestration masterfully paints a nautical image in the listener's mind. Brilliant!

For some reason UA-cam threw this show on my list. The episode with the gills has stayed with me for decades. But the show they had on had to do with an alien invasion. It was kind of hokey but it was wonderful to see the ship rocking back and forth just like star trek...ahem. In any event I watched the episode and when the closing theme song came on, I froze. It has been years since I heard that melody. You can clearly distinguish a beginning, middle and end and there is even a spot in the piece that points to trouble.(17), rescue (25), resolution (30), Happyness (40+). As mentioned earlier, a complete composition. Beautiful.

Oh my!!..haven't heard that theme since I watched the show in the 70's (reruns then?) ..it actually triggered something in my brain and gave me this feeling that took me back to my childhood. .
Like many I was ready for the show every week and still today...what a show my friends.

For plots definitely S1 but I was 5-6 yrs old so I watched for the rubber-suit alien of the week lol which was every other week once it went color.

0:03 to 0:13 Would make a Great Cellphone Ring tone. From 0:03 to 0:09 Is the initial call and 0:10 to 0:13 is the answered call. This is the musical theme used to introduce The USS Seaview in the Episode Eleven Days To Zero which can be called The Seaview Theme.
So many genius composers and I don't contribute squat.
The fact that you can recognize non famous genius composers is something. Salieri would be proud.

If they do a reboot version they should keep the original theme and of course,The Flying Sub.

Such a "re-boot" would probably work better as an UPDATE of the original, maybe featuring, as the head of the Nelson Institute for Marine Research, one of Admiral Dr. Harriman Nelson's (the late great Richard Basehart) DESCENDANTS, most likely one of his grand-nephews. That worthy would ALSO be named Harriman Nelson, and he likewise would be a full admiral in the US Navy, also from its submarine service, and would have at least one Ph.D., just like his great-uncle.
As for THIS Lee Crane, HE would be Lee Crane III, GRANDSON of the original Lee Crane (the late Albert David Hedison) and a full captain in the regular Navy, but he would come from its N-2 Intelligence Service to command what would be called, in this case, the "Seaview II."
Yep! great tv show of the time! loved it as a kid and still watch them, think this the Theme Tune, not the theme song though!

I liked the movie a lot. I was a kid in 1961 when it came out. Barbara Eden; Michael Ansara; Walter Pidgeon; Joan Fontaine; Frankie Avalon; Peter Lorre were in it. The Van Allen belt had caught on fire and planet earth was sweltering. Admiral Nelson wanted to fire a nuclear missile into space from the Seaview to stop it, but some scientists said no, don't do it, because that would destroy the earth. They tried to stop him, but he did it anyway and saved the planet.There was other stuff going on too with saboteurs on board and somebody trying to kill Admiral Nelson. Yeah, I liked the movie. The TV show was pretty good too. The only cast member that was in both the movie and tv show was the guy who played Seaman Kowalski. He was always getting knocked unconscious..
so in the mood tonight I could not think of anything else except Dark Shadows. That is another story.

John Williams wrote the theme music for Lost In Space, he is credited as he was known then, Johnny Williams. He is a great composer as you said.

My favorite episode was the one where some scientist takes something to make him giant size . Ironically, his clothes grew right along with him… go figure 😮

It is time to redo this show but with better scripts and a updated modern interior.
The only disappointment I have. After 50 yrs after this TV series was on. Todays US Navy don't have a Seaview Submarines like this at their their disposal. I wonder what's the hold up???🤔

Loved this show as a kid but its really typical Irwin Allen idiocy and does not hold up at all now.
I wouldn't say that, rdecredico. Some of the latter-season episodes had lame concepts and plot holes but overall, I think the quality - especially the cast's performances - were quite good. For my money, it beats the hell out of the edgy, dark, overly sexualized TV fare of today.
rdecredico I think it maybe an age thing. I have watched many things on You Tube that I used to watch as a kid. Randall and Hopkirk , Thunderbirds, Robinson Crusoe, The Double Deckers. You get the idea. But now at 57 they don't seem to have the same appeal. Sitting on the floor in front of the telly to watch kids program`s, but being told to get in bed when program's like, the Avengers, The Saint or even Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea came on. I watch them now and think, what was so bad we couldn't stay up and watch. Or was it just they wanted a bit of piece and quiet? As a parent/grand parent myself I think I now understand....................
Voyage was the longest running of Irwin Allen's four television series 1964-1968 110 episodes. Followed by Lost In Space 1965-68 83 broadcast episodes, Land Of the Giants 1868-70 52 episodes The Time Tunnel 1966-67 30 episodes. @@kowalski6539
