I haven't read any Wilkie Collins, should rectify this, I guess. I love all the intelligent banter between you & your partner, creates a glorious & quirky tone, it's great. Think I'd enjoy Machen too, I'm sold. I love thinking about Victorian Spiritualism, I was tempted for a while in taking up a PhD (history) in it, but ended up researching ecopoetics instead, which I loved, but still, I often pine for what might have been.
This occult detective genre sounds amazing. I guess that's where Charles Williams fits in now? I must search out more of this, sounds magnetic! I went through a long stage where I was addicted to The Inklings.
👏 I would also recommend J Sheridan Le Fanu’s Narrative of a Ghost of a Hand to you. I read it this Victober and there is a genuinely creepy image in that story that has haunted me. Happy Halloween to you and Dr. Jennie! 🎃
Speaking of occult detectives, Sherlock Holmes And The Servants Of Hell, by Paul Kane, pits Holmes and Watson against Clive Barker’s Cenobites. It’s great fun and ends up doing justice to both parts of the mix. (Kane has previously written a great book on the Hellraiser movies and is a friend of Barker’s.)

Great one Roy love rereading your book and love the Nightland !!!
@@paulevans4772 I would like to make another journey to The Night Land
With all those hands, I thought I'd mention, though I haven't read it, that Susan Hill has a ghost story called 'The Small Hand'.
Thanks, it looks good. I've got to hand it to you, that is a handy suggestion
I'm loving the hand theme!
Thanks! Maybe feet next.

Thanks - I hadn't any knowledge of Charles Williams, though _Many Dimensions_ sits on my shelves! I will investigate...
@@royreadsanything: Williams is a mixed bag, but I loved him while in my Inklings faze.
I found my copy of Many Dimensions! And I'm pretty sure I read War in Heaven a long time ago.
@@royreadsanything: I haven't read Williams in ages, but there's a stunning brand new biography of him that is much fun.

Thanks! I've enjoyed all the Le Fanu that I've read; I will grasp that Hand at some point
I loved LT Meade’s hand story. I found it the best I’ve read of her so far.
@@ObscureBookAdventures The murder weapon is amazing! ⚡️
@@royreadsanything oh, yes. I don't remember exactly. But it was the pool wasn't it|?
@@ObscureBookAdventures That's the one - with ||a giant electric eel||
@@royreadsanything Oh yes now I remember. Yes that was great.
Read both "The Dead Hand" (Meade's) and "The Brown Hand" earlier this month. Must be something in the air or bandwidth. Great reviews!
@@duanespurlock5879 Season of the Hand!
@@royreadsanything LOL!

That sounds like a lot of fun!
