  • 49 days since some areas of the UK have seen rain, and it is reeking havoc amongst Steam Railways and mainline Steam tour companies alike. But despite the large scale steam bans, the Dartmouth Steam Railway continued to utilise their steam fleet through one of the driest summers on record.
The lines resident 42xx & 52xx class 2-8-0 tank engines, numbers 5239 & 4277, were in charge if their half-hourly timetable on Monday the 15th of August. The later of the two Churchward heavy freight locos, having been outshopped from the works at Churston barely a month previously.
Come rain or shine, this gem of a Great Western Railway branch line always provides a wonder sight as it winds its way along the Riviera coast. The sun on this particular day only choosing to show itself in the later half of the day, but despite that it was a super day in this stunning part of the country. Hope you enjoy.

Why don't they stop trains at Churston anymore (other than to cross trains). it can't still be due to Coronavirus can it?

No idea either. They brought back the Pullman coach at the start of the year then removed it again.
