A little advice for what it's worth (ASE tech here), always take the oil filter off while the oil plug is NOT in the oil pan! If you plug the oil pan back up and then drop the filter, you're not releasing all of the oil. The filter creates a vacuum and that can hold oil back from draining. Anyway, just a tip.. hope this helps someone.
Good tip. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you didn't get killed. Jack stands are mandatory equipment.
Thanks for sharing! I love my Chevy G20 '93 Starcraft conversion. It's hard to find videos for our van. I'll change the oil this week. Just made it from Baja Mexico to central Canada
wow that’s quite the journey! I’m hoping to do something similar in my ‘95 gmc rally wagon this summer. You didn’t have any trouble with border crossing due to the virus?
Thanks for watching! We love Chevy G20's so much we have 3. That's an epic journey and I bet your van loved it. We just did a 5000 mile road trip from Washington to Minnesota and back. I'm now using only K&N oil filters in my vans as they are high quality and you only need to change them out every 10,000 miles with one oil change in between at 5,000 miles.
Your the best bro thank you
No worries. Thanks for watching!
Thanks a shit ton bro! Perfect!
No worries mate!
Do you think this is possible without jacking it up?(leaving it on ground)
Yup! As long as you can fit underneath the vehicle....
Hello, i'm french, and i would like to know how could remove my compressor air conditionning. Is is difficult ? Off course, i should be to fill the liquid but I would like change compressor (because it is broken) and after fill it with liquid. Thank you
Very good et thank you for your movie and help
I have a 94 that looks like a twin to yours even the color an pin stripes .
Awesome. Love these vans!!!
My only issue is the jack you're using. Spend the 50 bucks for a stand or 2 and dont get crushed by your car dude.
It's a 4 ton jack but yes a trolley jack or stands might be a little safer lol
road trip USA , do you know how much automatic transmission needs this type of vans, thanks
Should be Dex II
Is the oil cap on your g20 a conventional screw on cap? I have a 1990 Chevy G30 and it's got a weird oil cap that doesnt doesnt want to unscrew whether turning counter clockwise or clockwise. It says to refer to the owners manual on the cap, which I dont have.
Mine is the same way. It's like a plug, push it on and pull it off. It doesn't screw on or off. It does take some muscle to get it off and on.
Ours is also a plug type cap. It also takes some muscle to remove on and off.
With vibrations from day to day, those filters don't loosen?
They do not, the rubber seal keeps it nice and snug.
How much oil for a 5.7 V8?
5 quarts of oil
What type of oil for a 1990 Chevy g20?!? 10w30 ? Or 5w30
5w30
@@RoadTripUSA My guy is a commercial engine specialist. He says only 5w 30 on newer engines with these vans. Once you're approaching higher mileage, 75, 000 and up, use 10w-30 high mileage.
Спасибо большое помог, а то в России таких машин почти нету. Они есть но их очень мало.👍
How many miles before an oil change ??
Probably between 3,000 to 5,000 miles. Depends on the quality of your filter. You can buy a 10,000 mile filter and change the oil only at 5,000 and then change the filter and oil again at 10,000.
@@RoadTripUSA Are there any zerk fittings "chassis lube" to grease up and refill the front and rear differentials and top off all fluids and lube weather strips every 3000 miles or the 3 month rule or less ??
@@kennykennysson1077 just a general check of fluids such as radiator and transmission but those should be good for 100,000 miles. As for greasing I have never done that. There is two zerks on the control arm I believe for greasing the bushing but I have never needed to.
You have 10 magic fingers. Make sure you are safe under the ute.
Sump?
That type of Fram filter is the worst kind to use, better to use the General Motors filter
Plz dont use FRAM oil filters they are shit quality and the paper fragments in the filter material will break off and clog oil passages WIX or Napa brands are alot better option
