'older, wider people'............ if thats not describing me I dunno what is lol. Have only recently discovered the Bicycle AdventureClubbut have to say I am loving them. As a 55 year old who has just bought his first mountain bike, thank you for these videos they are inspirational... and Hello from the Black Country.
Just discovered your videos and Iv watched one after another ! They are addictive I think your personalities shine through and it’s inspiring me to dust off my bike and get out! Love the videos keep them coming ! :)
Doing the 200k this year, heavier than a lot of cyclists, contact sports and injuries that cycling got me mostly over. Riding an absolute mut of a bike I built from the frame up, costing a tenth of what most people will be riding, but I know every nut and bolt and love it. Found the same things with motorcycles, a lot of guys have a lot of money and all the gear, and very little idea. You've got a lot more experience than a lot of those guys and a lot more will power. Keep it inspiring people!
Hiya from Mid Wales. Found your brilliant channel and love your video's. You and Mary are so funny! Next time you are Aberystwyth way shout as I would love to join you on a ride. Not biked much recently but need to get bk into it! Xx
Welldone 💪🏻 .... i dont understand people its not hard to say hello , morning im very quiet and find it hard to talk to strangers but always say hi when passing other cyclists sadly atleast half ignore it 🤷🏼♂️ . Ive been interested in trying Ride to the sun ... which looks very welcoming from what ive seen online but the sort of experience you had there is whats putting me off .
Phew, exhausting...ffffin exhausting... There are no poor people here, million pound bikes.... They were all poorer for missing your company, they were all scared and hiding behind the 'gear'. You were brave, honest, tenacious, and filthy .. or should I say riffy on the Reiver. Well done!! I'm proud of you.
Oh Sarah, I enjoyed this. It seems to be very well organised. Really really well done. You can be so proud on yourself. Yeah, next year we go with the whole BAC, and show them some manners!
Well done Sarah, tough ride but you did it. Fantastic achievement, you should be MEGA proud of yourself. I love your videos. You're a lovely, warm, genuine and really funny person. Sorry you found it lonely. Think the other cyclists probably too concerned with their own times, PBs ( blah, blah!), expensive bikes and kit. Their loss for not getting to chat to you. Take care x
Hi Sarah, firstly well done, how you kept going on your own I don’t know. The Dirty Riever is on my bucket list but I’m not 3 stone wet through, don’t have a £5000 bike and don’t fit into any clothing Rapha make! I always say it takes nothing to say hello. You are usually assured of a warm welcome up here so I’m sorry you didn’t get that. Well done for doing it pet 👊🏻👍🏻
Wow that was tough, especially doing it on your own. Those sort of bikers seem rude not to make others welcome… clicky ay. Well done for persevering 🚴 🧢
What an achievement, against some very difficult conditions, Sarah! A true representation of how hard these types of events can be. It doesn't help that many forest trails can be very "samey", so you feel like you're just riding the same track over and over again. I hear what you say about how some riders can be quite indifferent. When you're miles away from home and just trying to settle in, it's a shame you can't get a friendly response - it doesn't cost anything to smile and say "Hello," does it? It's their problem, but I'm sorry you had to deal with it.
Hi 👋🏻 I just discovered your channel recently! First of all, very well done for completing that on your own! I think that if you had at least one other with you, the commaraderie would have helped you so much, but you really tested yourself and it was a tough challenge! Fantastic!
Congratulations Sarah, full respect on your completion amazing ride, Very enjoyable peice of filming, your the real deal, what a shame some of your fellow riders were so unsociable, Congratulations Paul & Wendy
Bloomin' amazing... This had everything, videos with emotion are always more captivating. I hope this is a big one for the channel👍 Julie is often/usually the only female on group rides, why is that? She doesn't talk about it but I know she finds it a little disappointing. Your amazing, well done Sarah👍
I think you did amazing!!! The crowd seemed so serious about the ride that everyone was very much by themselves and not socializing. It sucks to be amist so many people and yet be so alone. But you should be really proud of yourself that you made it regardless. 👏 👏 👏
Clicked "like" before even watching..!! Edited (now that I've watched it) to add... I'm always up for a club ride if you fancy attempting it again... or any other event.
Sarah as always wonderful filming. Your honesty was great, I cannot work out what is wrong with cyclists who just don't speak to each other. Whilst there was much to like in the scenery it wasn't for me, hours and hours of going through trees and climbing up to drop and re-climb is for me purgatory.
I had a very similar experience to you - I’ve done lots of events, but this one really did feel different! If you had the wrong bike, the wrong kit, and couldn’t fit into a rapha top, you were ignored ….I binned after 45 miles, couldn’t be bothered ….compared to something like the gravel dash in Dorset, it’s worlds apart
Sarah, that was a superb video and beautifully narrated.Loved your honesty over the whole film.So disappointing that you felt so lonely and generally had a negative experience socially, northerners are normally very friendly people, speaking as a Northumbrian, but alas there is a strong macho man and gear snob culture in the area.Once again congratulations on a fab achievement and a fab film
I think the event was the exception not the norm, it wasn't a negative experience per se, a little more camaraderie would have been nice. Thank you for your kind words and for watching 😃
I've just noticed your bicycle adventure club cap ... I can't find it in your merch shop ... or is it a patch 🤔 ... maybe a baseball cap is something worth adding 👍🏾
As a local I feel bad that you felt so lonely up here! When I ride the forest tracks I do it on an ebike as I'm not fit enough to do what you do, but if I'd known you were going to be in 'Border Reiver' country I'd have at least popped by for a brew and a natter! :) Good on you for doing it anyway. I'm glad the weather played ball for you, it can change pretty quickly here - from sunny, to grim, to hypothermia-territory if you're not prepared for it, and there's just nowhere to shelter at times. All the best 🙂
@@BicycleAdventureClub if you do decide to come back, please announce your plan on the Community tab on your UA-cam channel! I don't really do the Facebooks and the Twitters and all that anymore. Cheers :)
Wow, fair play doing that 👌 beast of an event that. Edit - After watching, what a fantastic effort you put in. Given the fact you felt so alone at the start, you truly out did yourself. Well done girly. Absolutely fantastic 👍
Great ride, I would love to do it next year, is the campsite close to the start, as I don't drive and would possibly get train to Newcastle and cycle to a campsite close to the start.
