  • I DO N0T CLAIM TO OWN ANY MATERIAL USED IN THIS VIDEO. Gia Carangi was a beautiful talented supermodel who died at the young age of 26 from AIDS. She was known as the first supermodel and paved the way for models like Cindy Crawford. She was known not only for her gorgeous looks but her love of life and her free spirited personality.
Ive wanted to make a tribute to Gia for a long time but could never find the right song nor had the time. But when i heard this song i immediatly thought of Gia and since im home sick recently i was out of excusses. I really enjoyed making it and im very happy w/ the outcome. Enjoy :)

@@reidx512 Wow!! Your Godmother must still be alive. GIA would be 64 today. When GIA was dying from AIDS, I was witnessing people dying from the disease while in the USAF. I worked in a medical laboratory. We'd learned about AIDS in 1983, before the public caught wind of it. By 1985 many homosexual soldiers ( illegal at the time ), were dying... and had already perished. There was absolutely NO POSSIBLITY of survival. Definitely not a disease anyone wants to see in latent stage just before death. People didn't look "HUMAN" anymore. HIV or AIDS ravaged the body; there was next to nothing left. Skin was covered with all types of lesions, cancer, and open wounds; bones would protrude from the skin, be breathing on ventilator, etc . Really was a NIGHTMARE!! It was a DEATH SENTENCE if tested positive. However, we knew it wasn't airborne. Had to have body fluid to fluid contact... but not saliva. POINT is... I have a good idea how GIA looked the day she passed, and it was NOTHING like the "GIA" in the photos!!! NO ONE would've recognized her. Thank goodness it's NOW treatible!!! She SUFFERED greatly!! RIP GIA.

I wish you would call it what is, AIDS ,And I'm not trying to be rude. AIDS is not getting better it's getting worse , every year 2 million is added so by 2030 there's going to be 50 million living with HIV. It needs to put back into the conversation to fight stigma which prevents people wanted to get tested.

Gia was pretty and girly in a lot of her pics and in others she'd appear handsome and androgynous. Although she was cute and pretty, Gia was more versatile than anything and probably more versatile than other models used at the time because in some pics she looks like the innocent and demure girl the next minute she's the carnal and assertive sexy bombshell and the minute after that one she becomes the androgynous and minimalist tomboy. It's too bad that she let drugs mess up her life because she expressed her looks in such versatile and different ways.

By that I mean the looks on her face or in her eyes, her smile. Wow… I’m sad she is forever young because she died so young. I’m very thankful that we still have her art to look at, though. Gia needed a great big hug and a bunch of people that cared. What she got was used and ate up by the fashion world.
There were a few people that did what they could, but you can't stop a freight train determined to hit a brick wall. Once she got hooked on heroin it was all over.
Gia was one of those once in a lifetime women that are so far above the rest it's unfair to the others.

Carlos....because it isn't the drugs, & until we understand that, nothing will change. Gia was a lonely, hurt, & abandoned child who was sexually abused & witnssed violent fights before her mother left when she was 11 yrs old. Her sexuality and sexual orientation caused her more pain & alienation. She moved to NYC alone at 17yrs old, by 18 was working very very long hours & had a big cash flow. She fell in love wih heroin because it killed that unbearable pain.....her story is the perfect recipe for a drug addict even without the money & freedom @ 18. You can never get rid of drugs on the supply end, & behind the demand is broken, hurt PEOPLE, the War on Drugs (a drug is an inanimate object, it would never get made without demand) is really a War on broken, hurt PEOPLE.....some countries have realized this & addressed it. I have no hope for the US. They've caused the demand to reach epic proportions on several occasions (Purdue lying about Oxycontin, Wars in opium rich countries which produce 98% of the world's heroin w/US military watching the opium fields as we speak, heroin brought back in dead soldiers coffins to US in Nam...for soldiers with PTSD, etc, it could not have been done without US compliance. Hopeless.

Ela viveu realmente o lema: Viva Rápido e morra Jovem.

I saw the Gia movie on HBO a couple years back. I google Gia Carangi quite often. I think she is the most beautiful woman I ever seen. I google her because I am so jealous of her look. All posts I read praise her for her beauty. If I had her looks and her attractiveness, I don't think I would throw it all away. Stuff came so easy to Gia.. so it seems. In my world, a successful woman, struggling to maintain my career, my weight, my personal life, drug free... I wish it could be glamorous an beautiful. Gia had it all and she gave it away!

It’s not that simple she was most likely not mentally stable ever since she was a kid and also she had a rough life, she was a very care free person who wasn’t obsessed with her looks she knew she was pretty but wasn’t obsessed with it, she didn’t decide to get into the modelling industry it was friends of hers who suggested it and also before she died she told a nurse who said her daughter wanted to be a model that you don’t want your kid to become a model it’s not worth it you will be surrounded by fake people who don’t care about you and you will self destruct it’s easy to point the finger when your not in their position

I'm late to the party but Gia may have looked like she had it all but she really didn't and not everything came easy to her. For one thing, her mom left her when Gia was 11, and when Gia grew up, finding a lasting love wasn't something that came easy to her either. Looks are helpful to have, but they don't solve your problems. Gia was stunningly unbelievably beautiful, but she was destructive, and there was something about herself that she didn't like, almost hated about herself. IDK what it was, but her self-portrait from rehab tells a lot about her. Everyone else saw a tomboyish type of woman who walked like a truck driver, but they said she was feminine. BUT Gia saw Gia as a man and a woman not just in the body but male and female in Gia's s3xuality. She had no hair but had scars and a broken heart based on her self-portrait. Gia's journal revealed a Person who was "........starting to dig being different..........".
