    07/10/2023 , 9:50pm
Monday evening, BFD B-Shift was dispatched as mutual aid to Smiths Station Fire Rescue for a reported structure fire in the 15000 block of US HWY 280E. The caller was reporting the structure to be fully engulfed and looked to be abandoned. Multiple mutual aid agencies were dispatched from around the area due to Smiths Station Fire Rescue already operating at a working residential structure fire on Lee Road 246 in the City of Smiths Station at the time of dispatch.
Upon arrival, firefighters found an abandon, single story commercial structure with heavy fire showing from the Bravo Side and through the roof. There was also an 18-wheeler trailer fully engulfed on the Bravo Side with multiple exposures on the Delta Side of the structure. Firefighters from Smiths Station, Beulah, Crawford, Salem, Phenix City, Uchee Creek, and Seale all worked together with the assistance of Lee County EMA, and Lee County Sheriffs Office to extinguish the fire. The fire was brought under control approximately one and a half hours after arrival. No injuries were reported on scene. The cause remains under investigation.
Beulah Fire Department responded with three apparatus, five personnel, and were on scene for approximately three and a half hours before returning to service. Smiths Station Fire Rescue, Crawford Volunteer Fire Department, Salem Volunteer Fire Department, Phenix City Fire Rescue, Uchee Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Seale Volunteer Fire Department, Lee County EMA, Lee County Sheriffs Office, Alabama Power, and Alabama Forestry Commission all responded to the scene.
