This is the best video I've found on MUA and I've been researching the subject a lot. I only wish my dr spent this much time explaining the process and why my ROM stalled at 88 degrees.
I had to have M U A after a TKR. My range of motion was less than 100 degrees after 8 weeks and knee was stiff. My orthopedic doctor wasn’t satisfied with that range and wanted a M U A performed. I had M U A at 11 weeks after K T A. My thigh muscles were so tight I couldn’t do the therapy 3 days after therapy. My doctor put me on some muscle relaxers and pain meds. I took the meds and felt a lot better with the muscles relaxing the next day. Just a longer road to recovery but worth it since. For those who are thinking of doing a TKR. Suggestion keep a calendar, pill box ( with days of the week on it) , write down all the times you take your medications so you remember. a cold water therapy machine ( Well worth the money ) I bought one on Amazon for $160. A recliner that goes almost flat when extended, a heating pad works wonders also, Remember to do your home exercises and eat a well balanced diet helps also. Keep the Faith and you will survive , Remember “ TOUGH TIMES DON’T LAST, BUT TOUGH PEOPLE DO”
I had a stiff knee, then MUA 8 weeks out. Post surgery I experienced quadriceps hematoma, swelling, stiffness and unable to put weight on operative knee. Ct and MRI showed no fractures. I am 3 weeks out from MUA still stiff knee and not making good progress with ROM. Quads and hamstrings are extremely tight. Can’t get better than 80 degrees flexion. Concerned about even trying another MUA or surgery to remove scar tissue. Desperate.
I bring doing PT has being 6 weeks sense Surgery, I have lot of stiffness before therapy my knee flex is 90 degree after lot of manipulation and exercise I can bend my knee 100-105 this is with help and soo painful, still lot swollen and hurt every night on the back of my leg
At what point is it too late for a manipulation. I am on year out and can get to 90degrees and to 95 with effort. My surgeon refused to do a MUA from the start.

I'm getting MUA tomorrow and no one has really bothered to explain a damned thing! This video was excellent.
Thank you for making it clearer!
