I had a manipulation 5 weeks after my replacement. The anesthetic was brutal, but after i got home and slept it off i had no further issues with my knee and everything is working great
This is just the message i needed to hear as I'm heading into manipulation in a couple days. Thank you Andy and Albert!!! I appreciate your positive message!
I’m so glad I came across this video. I had a TKR in October and I may need a MUA as my range is only at 75 degrees. I hope I have as good an outcome as Albert.
Im having this done in 2 days. I thought all this pain stuff was over with until i was told this was needed. I went through the break of my left leg (around the knee area) and i broke the socket of my elbow that needed to be replaced. So after the break and the worse pain in my life i had surgery on both and the pain started all over again. Now in 2 days i go back for a MUA on my knee and elbow so I'm extremely nervous but I'm hoping after this last procedure i will be on my way to a full recovery.
I had it done 3 weeks ago. Great anesthesia and no pain at all afterwards. The manipulation brought much better range of motion. BUT demand a long lasting shot in your knee, while you're under anesthesia, and you should be fine.
My sister was told to do it after only 2 weeks of pt. This is ridiculous. This was never done before, but greed prevails. They always find new ways to make more money, regardless of how they affect someone's quality of life. Being just under anesthesia for the surgery and going under so soon is literally life threatening, but do they care? Many people have a very bad reaction and die. Who do you blame? They cover their butts in the form you sign, you give the the permission to do this to you and they do NOT take responsibility. With Physical Therapy you can do well. Do NOT let them bully you into it. The risks outweigh the benefits.
Loved hearing this! I had a total knee replacement 2 years ago did the PT and I too didn’t get the bend I needed for tennis, spin etc...so I decided to do the manipulation. Wasn’t excited about the decision but wanted a better outcome. I am 1 1/2 weeks into my manipulation and yes!, it’s painful and work but hopefully will get the results I want! Good to hear your story...my husband was much like your wife.
I had a total knee back in November, a manipulation in February and never got the motion I needed and still have lots of pain. Just found out last week from a CT scan that there loosening of the tibia component. Idk what's gonna happen next. I figure they'll either try to fix it or redo the whole thing.
my left knee was perfect, just had right knee replacement and it doesnt want to bend. all swollen around knee. i think it is like 67 degrees. so in 2 week spossed to do this. i see it is rare so i can do this.
I had knee surgery on my left knee last year and had a reaction it never straightened or bent properly but it turned out I was allergic to the metal. It took them a year to figure it out. This year they yanked it and did the revision. The revision they noticed they had to order a childs size as well as going to only a certain place to get my parts two places in the whole world make my parts. They got it in me but I was only allowed 50% weight on my leg. I became allergic to staples they yanked them replaced with glue I became allergic to the glue they pulled it and left me open and just used an ace bandage to close it up and hoped it worked and it did. It was painful but worked. Just last month on the 25 I had my right knee done by a new surgeon in the same office since my other surgeon left the state with his colleague shortly after my surgery. Im a very very rare patient with certain medical case sensitivities basically walking glass. Born without certain enzymes, allergic to almost every med out there etc. So im marked extremely fragile in my charts. Well this surgeon did my right knee and when they put me in my over night room I guess I stopped breathing and convulsion during my first pt and I ended up in icu. So my first pt didnt go so well. During my hospital stay I noticed when I first woke from surgery that I had this horrible pain in my shen as if it got busted and from day one my arch in my foot felt as if a rod was being shoved into it and my toes was going painfully numb. And when pt came to work with me id stopped breathing and end up back in bed. The nurses would come in and place a pillow under my knee. I told them the pillow isnt supposed to be under the knee it has to be under the ankle only. I told the doctor and pt this as well and they told me the nurses told them that I demanded the pillow under my knee but my guests and I told them no it was the nurses doing this. Make a long story short I left the hospital. I noticed that shen pain intensifying. It would get so bad I would violently throw up. I felt like I peed myself and all over my knee cause the pain was just horrible feeling. I started getting feverish and I decided to change my bandage a day early even though I didnt realise I was two days early. As I opened the bandage there was over thirty bandages covered thick in blood and clots bigger than a mans fist. Of coarse I had to get some medical scissors I had to cut the bandages cause it was so rock hard it was like cutting plaster. Everything I kept very sterile I used to work in a nursing environment and since I took care of my other knee of washing it daily with alcohol etc I knew how to clean this leg up as well. This one got stitched up so for all that blood told me I was bleeding out alot and stitches had busted. Which would make since because I couldnt stay awake for more than five minutes and I didnt want to eat, I was so weak. And extreme pain. The main bandage had a clot sticking out of the wound hole so big I vouldnt even removed the last bandage it was literally like glue to my leg so I had to rewrap it to my leg with clean bandages and tightly to stop the bleeding. I called the doctor and sent in photos through the portal because the dr on call didnt know me and was rude said your not dying go to sleep your fine leave it be. Next day I went in seen my doctor and I had bled out over a pint prior to me changing the bandages. If I hadnt done so the dr said I would had bled out and it could had probably killed me. But whatever I did stopped the bleeding immediately. Apparently I positioned the clot perfectly over enough to clog the hole. They left the dirty bandage on me and covered it back up sent me on my way. The shen pain still worsening. Pt not going well at all. I was finally able to get all that bandage off get my knee cleaned up, fixed up so pt can work harder with me but my leg is just stuck. It wont bend. Its stuck at 80 and for straight were 15 off from 100. We was at 100 then just out of nowhere boom it went to 25 off and now wont go back. Pt has me on the bike, on the steps, everything I even have to lay on my stomach and hold my legs off the bottom with a weight on them but my leg just wont straighten. They tried to place it up on their shoulder and nothing. I was told if it dont soon do what its supposed to then they are telling my doctor to go in and do the mua. I did notice right under the knee cap is what looks like this air pocket like two inches deep. Very painful too. And it sits on the shen, it buldges im wondering if it has something to do with why I cant bend n straighten it I have told pt about it and they said are u icing it I let them know yes they said they dont know what it is. But I feel a resistance of pain in that area and with the two muscles on each side of the leg under the knee that also effect my spine at the same time with a sharp pinch and I almost vommit or black out from this pain.
Dang, I hope everything is going to be ok. I'm getting my knee done in December and this has me worried. I too am allergic to adhesives and most metals. Hang in there!
Peggy my left knee the revision is doing good since they got the new correct metal in. But the right one is being totally stubborn. Its just plainly stuck at a 80 bend 20 straight. So i might be facing mua. My pt contacted my dr. Now i wait to see what my doctor says its pretty painful to walk and sleep. They say after the mua it will feel allot better.
@@AbdulBasit-gp3ps not good at all. I have very limited rom on that leg and limited rom on my other leg as well with cronic pain syndrome in both legs and the lower spine. I'm having to live full time on meds now nonstop which I'm not liking at all. And unable to do so much I'm very very limited.
