One of the good things about living in Tennessee is that you go there on field trips in school
My dad took my brother and I to Rock City/Lookout Mountain when I was about 6. I picked out a souvenir t-shirt way back then and have managed to keep it for 29 years now. ❤️
Your friend was a phenomenal tour guide! Would love to listen to his stories while exploring Rock City
I agree and I hate tours. But he’s amazing
The gentlemen with you was so informative. Very enjoyable video!
Carpetbagger i like the older man your with, hes like your tour guide, he seems nice a gentleman 😊 thanks for sharing he shows you around.
My fiancé and I moved to Chattanooga about 4 years ago and I’ve been to Rock City several times and there was so much I didn’t know until seeing this vid!
My husband and I got married at Rock City in 2004.
My ideal vacation is always a “Carpetbagger trip”, so my husband took me to see Rock City. After that, I had dreams about running into THE Carpetbagger while on my own adventures. You’re the best, Jacob.
This was great and I really appreciated his LOTR reference! 😉
Rock City is really beautiful!.
Love Lookout Mountain and Rock City! Went there many times as a child and then have taken my daughter as an adult.
Man this definitely brings back memories for me. My family used to stop in Chattanooga “on the way” to Florida, and this was one of our favorite places there.
That place looks FANTASTIC!!! I wish I could see it myself... And congrats to Rod on your geek-cred! Those are some deep-cut Tolkien and comic-book-refs! ; )
i love all the fairytales and nursery rhymes.
but i love the cavern.
We love rod (the tour guide)
This is one place I've been wanting to go to for years thank you for showing this video.
This place is amazing! Been there a few times, and have brought friends there. When they ask what it is, I'm hard pressed to describe it accurately. Simply amazing, is my typical response. Can't wait to take the "grands" there.
I have been a few times and it never gets old. Jacob the gentleman with ya did a outstanding job on some of the history.
That tour guide is very interesting! I didn't know that Garnett Carter made Rock City Gardens also made the first Mini-Golf course and that 1950's Captain Marvel (Shazam) comics fight local villians in different U.S. States. Have a great day Jake! 😁😁
I was amazed at that fact also..
@@miketwomey4923 Me too Mike!
This was one of my favorite video you've made .what a fabulous place the other guy was wonderful to have along too.welcome back to the south ❤🎉❤😊
Where the gnome in the tavern was that's replaced by a waterfall pouring onto a colorful stone looks like the stones Thanos was collecting in the Marvel Endgames movie.
Hubby & I love Rock City. We were talking yesterday if Carpetbagger made a Rock City Vlog and then today we see your most recent Rock City Vlog 😅
Beautiful place! I love the different challenges and bridges. Gorgeous house. The art of mat is such a novel idea.cool caves and colored glass.
Always love Road Trips with Jacob.
THE CARPETBAGGER 🚗 💨💨💨
This is like top 5 attractions I want to visit the most.
thank you for A great video i was here 35 years ago it was so fun.
Loved the book all litter bugs come in all shapes and sizes. It's a good read .
They just repainted the barn down the road in Rydal ga.
Thanks for the tour! ill put Rock City Gardens on my list of places to visit.
We used to go to Rock City all the time when I was younger. It's one of my favorite places. I can still smell that fairytale caverns smell... lol
The story of lover's leap is interesting and is the exact same story that is told about Yonah mountain between the towns Helen and Cleveland Georgia. Right down to the Native Americans names of Sautee and Nacoochee being the names of the lovers that perished there. That's why the area around Helen and Cleveland is called the Sautee Nacoochee valley. It's also said that the Indian Mound between the towns is where Sautee and Nacoochee were buried.
Loved your visit there and your lovely tour guide 😊
That view from Lookout Mountain is amazing
We loved Rock City Gardens! Thanks for sharing!
What a cool place, thanks for sharing such an awesome attraction with us Jacob!!!
Truly a really beautiful place nice work jacob.
That place is too cool! Thanks Jacob for taking us on this adventure.
This place looks awesome and the tour is great. Thanks for sharing!
what a marvelous road side attraction.
This was the most detailed video you have done, and I loved it! We watch these on our tv,I will be watching this one again and again!❤️ also tell the guy giving the tour he did great too!
GREAT Rock City video! Many THANKS 🙏 to your awesome 👏 history guide, Ron.
Love the views, hate the fake waterfall.
I never heard of this. Looks so interesting. Thank you so much for sharing. I will remember to visit when I travel in that area. Thanks again. Keep Safe!
Gosh I remember when I was traveling to Georgia to visit family, I would always see those See Rock City signage everywhere. I completely regret now that I didn’t See Rock City. Great vlog Jacob. Stay well
Good Evening Jacob 🙋🏽. Rock City is Beautiful ❤
Was gunna take a drink everytime ROCK CITY was mentioned, glad I didn't do that 😂
That last portion of the tunnel when I saw you ducking out from it I yelped the most visceral "NO!" I think I have ever spoken, only because my soul left my body about six times before that!
OMFG! How did I not know this place of beauty existed? TY so much for this tour!
I saw you there !!
Went there in 1973, have pics looking down at deer, on suspension bridge etc... You brought back a lot of memories.
I like the piece of art the Artomat blessed you with it's very cool I want it! It's just so cool looking. It's just interesting and makes my mind go to a different place of wonder and adventure.
You need to go to Rock Garden in Calhoun Georgia. It has over 50 castles made of stones. It is beautiful
I also saw some of those barns so many decades ago and my parents took us all to visit it in 1971 after a trip to Orlando for a family wedding and to visit the east coast mouse house.
Look Out Mountain and Rock City amazed us all.
This video was wonderful. I went in the early 90's and I really enjoyed seeing how it looks now.
My family - we were from Florida - visited Rock City way back in the middle 1960's. We loved it. We all agreed it was an enjoyable attraction and well worth the visit. A nearby attraction also on Lookout Mountain is Ruby Falls which we found a bit of a disappointment unfortunately. I remember we stayed at an old hotel (old even back then) in downtown Chattanooga called the Read House and dined in the fancy restaurant there called The Green Room.
Thank you so much for taking me back to my youth! First went to Rock City in 1970 when I was 4yrs old. I was last there in 2005 with my children and we still talk about how incredible Rock City is!
We went as a family in one of our trips to vacation in Florida my Dad took us on every year in the 1960's n 1970's, n I remember it vaguely, but going on this tour with you, Jacob, brought the entire experience into sharp realization!!! It is by far one of the most eclectic n iconic places ever immortalized in already existing natural formations, creating a two fold epic experience of our natural Earth 🌎 wonders n the ground breaking creativity of the couple that presented some of the great firsts in our daily lives!!! Awesome attraction n wonderful tour guides, including yourself, Jacob, who makes every little detail come to life to be absorbed n appreciated by the viewer!!! Thank you ever so for an enchanting Saturday afternoon, complete with black lights, magnificent colours, kaleidoscopes, witches, goblins n gnomes, as well as miniatures n fairy tales n nursery rhymes from our childhood to enchant and delight us!!!! Awesome Totally,Jacob!!! Triple Attaboys to you Carpetbagger!!! You are the master of the roadside attractions!!!
Really loved hearing all the history behind Rock City . Amazes me that they could turn their garden into such a spectacular attraction. Such and interesting place . I especially like the black light area. Great tour thanks for taking us along . Keep Safe ❤Keep Well❤
I love this place! Thanks for the look art the new stuff, I am totally bringing Baby Ball this year!
Jacob, I'm so glad you are doing this. I haven't been there since I was young. A few years ago (last time was Christmas. The is so beautiful with the lights.) My grandfather's brother helped to do a lot of the men laid rock pathways.
Rock City is right up there with House on the Rock for places that I hope to visit someday 🌟🤩 It looks like an amazing place 🤩🙌 Thank You Jacob and Rod for giving us a wonderful tour 🙏💝😻
LOVE when you go to Rock City ❤️ it's on my bucket list. ✌️❤️🙂
I enjoyed seeing Rock City & meeting Ron! This was awesome!
Thank you for filming this video, it’s nice know that people in wheelchairs like me can experience this inaccessible attraction now. 😀
This is a very interesting place. Since I don't get around well, this is the only way I get to enjoy beautiful places like this. Thanks for taking us on your journey, Jacob ❤️
42:22 What I have gathered over the years from multiple stories, the one that sounds most realistic; A Cannon placed on a bridge guarding the mouth of the River Thymes in England perhaps 1800 range. It fell off into the river perhaps to erosion and wear and the military (Horses and Men) could not put it back together, it was gone. English poem totally, time and place work out. Some reality and truth behind most stories or lore.
During the English Civil War of the 1640s.
Wow so many of the places you want to go make me want to see them, but this has invoked a real longing, absolutely stunning! Rod was incredible too, knowledgeable, funny.... He reminded me of you!
Thank you for the tour of Rock City! I have been wanting to go back there for ages! I absolutely love the place 💜
Every year, on our annual road trip from Illinois to Florida, my family would pass what seemed like hundreds of See Rock City barns. My brother and I always wanted to go, but Dad would grump about making time, and how we were going to Disneyworld so we didn't need to go there. Still haven't been there, but it is on the bucket list.
the jack horner story is that he was the steward to the abbot of Glastonbury. He sent Horner with a pie containing the deeds to twelve manor houses meant to ingratiate himself with the king. It's said that Jack put his thumb in the pie and pulled out the "plum" deed to Mells Manor. Where he and his descendants lived. Though his descendants dispute the myth.
Walt Disney also visited the Pleasure Beach amusement park in Blackpool, England early 1950's. He took ideas from the Alice in Wonderland ride there and you can clearly see the similarities between the rides. The ride is still operating in Blackpool.
Thanks both, very informative 👍🇬🇧
I loved getting the fudge when I visited.
Love the TLD and DLC they put into this classic ride, have fun atop and at the base of the Mountain!
Such a lovely tour and excellent assistant guide!
My great uncle was dangled over the lover's leap area with a rope tied around his waist to laaay some of the rock wall there.
Now that you met Jen you know what the real ROC IS!!! 😂🎉🎊😜
We have a yearly pass. Such a nice place to see and sit in the rockers and look over the cliff.
Thank you for this Mr. Bagger it’s one of my favorite places😍😍😍
Where is Ripley's Believe It Or Not, and make this the very first black ride, or walk-through, that inspired Disney's dark rides in the later future after Walt Disney himself, went there, and took a tour of the place?
And Guinness Book of Records too?
We need documentation here!
A momentous occasion!
Those bejeweled doors are very reminiscent of Lord of the Rings, as well as some of the references to hobbits n gnomes lore, Mr. Underhill n Goblin Underpass, etc. Very cool dance on the precipice in your stunning yellow Crocs!!
man, earthquakes would be on my mind too much in caves like these.
Yes, that was a Cupie! 😂
This Place is Beautiful ! even for a creep like me. but I See they made me an Underpass ! 9:40 💯
This was a great video! I’ve been there but this offers so much more info. Thanks!!
We have a barn here near Kouts Indiana that has the "Atop Lookout Mountain" painted on the side!
Love the vids keep ‘em coming
In Jacksonville Florida there's a neighborhood with roads called Cinderella Lane Peter Pan Lane ECT ECT ECT. A hair salon called Cinderella. A laundry place called Snow White.
You missed the crush penny machine.
Who owns Rock City? Is it family members or corporate owned. Beautiful place. Nice to see it still in operation….
Family owned by the Chapin family--hand-picked successors of the Carters. 🙂
A few months back I saw one of your videos at Rock City, it has been on my bucket list ever since.
There’s a barn a town over from me in north Alabama that’s still has see rock city on it I went when I was a kid would love to go back!!
I think there is an attraction called rock city in the north as well. But this one is super cute.
Just checked. It's a state park in cataraugus ny.
Looks like you did most of the Chattanooga stuff while in town for lake Winnipesaukee. You should see it at Christmas when it's lit up really nice.
Dang buddy I wish I had known you were in town. Hope you had a blast
Nice video Jacob! I gotta take the family there!!
Jacob, your UA-cam Channel rocks! 😊😊👍👍👍 I couldn't resist the pun! LOL
6:54 "it's my hole! It was made for me!"
I loved rewatching the earlier video and contrasting it with this one. I always loved Rock City. Rod's details were great. Did there seem to be less gnomes?
What a beautiful place and let me tell you that I live in Lake Tahoe.
In the Peter the Pumpkin Eater tale. He actually kills his cheating wife and bakes her body in a pumpkin shell and there she kept very well! Fairytales were a lot darker.
Very nice place to visit thanks Jacob for showing me the video 😊
