  • The road to OSA Drake's Bay in Costa Rica holds a lot of trills just like every part of that country. You could either choose the safer boat ride across the river or drive your 4X4 through a dirt road and several water crossings later you arrive at Drake's Bay.
Watch out for the last river crossing and if the forecast does predict heavy rains then you would be better off leaving the car and taking the hanging bridge across.
So here you go and hope you find your aventuraaaa!!!!
BTW, we were in a rented Bego.

I just drove to Drake's Bay a few days ago -- amazing place. They just built a new bridge so you don't have to worry about driving over Rio Drake when the water's high. Also the narrow bridge has been replace with a normal one. Still recommend renting a 4x4 driving around Costa Rica. Pura vida!

Nice video! :) I'm very glad that you enjoyed my country! and to be honest both ways to get there, river or dirt trail, seem very nice experiences but the 4x4 looks so fun. Would love to do the trip with my husband one day too. Thanks for the upload!

Did you drive from Chacarita or from Sierpe to Drake Bay?
What about the scary bridge at 0:52. Will it carry my Toyota 4-Runner (heavy and wide)?

Hey its been a while since we did this trip but if i remember correctly we turned in from Chacarita to Drake Bay. The first bridge back then was stable but was getting close to its useful life. I would think that by now that old bridge may have got an upgrade especially since it was the first one and a lot of traffic was dependent on it. Should it be rickety with a full sized SUV like you have and diff locks you should be able to wade across that river if the water level is low. I was driving a small Suzuki Jimmy for reference. Good luck on your trip, an amazing place.

@@ThomasInasu We were there in Feb. 2022. Coming from Rincon we drove to Drake Bay. It had no more scary bridges or river crossings. The road was boring, partly paved and in the dry season you can drive to Drake bay with any car.

Good to know, but the fact that the roads are mostly paved is such a shame as the crossings and the unknowns added to the adventure

Thanks for this great video! We'll travel in May this year and I'm interested how accessible the rivers will be. In which month have you filmed this? Rain-season / dry-season?

Sorry Felix for some reason I just noticed your question, we travelled over in August. It was not the dry spell but was fortunate to get a few dry days. Hope you had a good trip.

@@ThomasInasu Thanks for your answer. Unfortunately, our flights were canceled due to Covid-19. What a pity. But Costa Rica is still at the top of our Travel destination list.

@@phenomenia that’s such a shame but you got to visit that place once all this is behind us, it was truly stunning.
