Personally taken down a dozen 10ks, several dozen 5ks, and can't count how many $400/500/1000. So you don't need that much money. But the smaller ones will have more people aware of them approaching an EV+ that have the bankroll to go for it. Most people have the money to go for a $50 jackpot. Not many people have $10,000 to go for a $5k or a 10k. Also have to include on the back end with player rewards if you put $10,000 in a machine to hit a $10,000 jackpot you break even on the front end. But on the back end in comps you're likely to get a few grand in free play, drawing entries, rooms, food, concert tickets, etc.

I live in Vegas. I'm a professional poker player and I've spent a lot of time in the casino world and played a lot of games. I can tell you right now, no game is beatable. Even with poker, the automatic shuffler machine is rigged and the casino has certain players working for them. They take your money and the casino gets a piece. Blackjack uses the same shuffler machines. They can rig the entire outcome of every card. Doesn't matter if you can count cards because when you need a certain card, you won't get it. Roulette uses magnetic balls, craps uses weighted dice, and slot machines (including progressive ones) are rigged to never hit. They used to hit, but nowadays they just take all of your money period. Theoretically you can beat certain games if they play by the rules, but the casino post-pandemic has every game rigged so they have virtually 100% control and pretty much always win.

Phil Ivey was banned for deck selection. He was allowed to pick a certain brand of card ( because of how high his stakes were ) that he knew had rank identifying defects on the back.

Look at it this way, though I'm not sure they meant this. If you beat the casinos rake, you're freerolling all of their progressive incentives to play. Bad beat jackpots, four flushes, quads or better, splash pots the casino is adding the money into, etc.

It is mathematically proven that when card counting in Blackjack, you have slightly better odds than the house( depends on how many decks are being used, I think you get something like 50,5 percent odds of winning, which is a lot with high amounts of money). 1 you don't beat the house in poker, the house doesn't play, they just take a small cut of the pot. 2 you don't beat the house in sports betting, the house always prices their odds to make money no matter the outcome. You can with good knowledge or by using multiple bookies that price their odds differently tend on making money, but the house always will. 3 blackjack is the only game where you can gain an actual edge, and thus the only ome that risks getting kicked out for winning too much at 4 progressive jackpots can give you a better return than 100% but the house well makes up for it in the players that loose. You don’t “beat the casino” at progressive slots. You beat all the previous bettors who ran up the jackpot. The casino still makes money. And you don’t beat the casino in poker. You don’t play against the casino. They make money on every hand, no matter who wins.

Don’t think for a second that you can win on progressive slots. I’m a former slot manager for a large casino company, and now I’m an independent contractor within the casino industry. Slots are called, “one armed bandits” for a reason. 80%-85% of all profits made by casinos is from slots. Just because a progressive reaches a certain amount does not mean that it will hit soon, because progressives go up very slowly. It could be one spin, or 10,000, you don’t know. There are certain machines that need to hit by a certain amount, but those ones are usually tied to either other machines on the floor, or machines in other casinos. There is no guarantee that your machine will be the one that hits.
He's talking expected value. So if, on top of all the other returns, there is a 1 in 1 million chance to hit the jackpot on a $1 spin, and the jackpot is $100,000, the expected value increases by $0.10. If the normal RTP of a slot is 70%, then when the jackpot is bigger than $300,000 the expected value of a spin on that slot will be positive. But positive EV for machines like that is kinda silly, as the variance is so big that it doesn't really matter that it's positive EV.
I don’t want to get into details, and I wasn’t as naive as I may think I was, because I knew something was up. But I had a “paid for” 3 day weekend in Vegas, and learned how to gamble slots. So I did know this, from what I’d call a “professional” gambler.

@@jazerasor1455the hard part is finding them at an EV+ number. There are jackpots from as low as $50 to as high as $100,000. Personally taken down a dozen 10ks, several dozen 5ks, and can't count how many $400/500/1000.
So you don't need that much money. But the smaller ones will have more people aware of them approaching an EV+ that have the bankroll to go for it. Most people have the money to go for a $50 jackpot. Not many people have $10,000 to go for a $5k or a 10k.
Also have to include on the back end with player rewards if you put $10,000 in a machine to hit a $10,000 jackpot you break even on the front end. But on the back end in comps you're likely to get a few grand in free play, drawing entries, rooms, food, concert tickets, etc.

I live in Vegas. I'm a professional poker player and I've spent a lot of time in the casino world and played a lot of games. I can tell you right now, no game is beatable. Even with poker, the automatic shuffler machine is rigged and the casino has certain players working for them. They take your money and the casino gets a piece. Blackjack uses the same shuffler machines. They can rig the entire outcome of every card. Doesn't matter if you can count cards because when you need a certain card, you won't get it. Roulette uses magnetic balls, craps uses weighted dice, and slot machines (including progressive ones) are rigged to never hit. They used to hit, but nowadays they just take all of your money period. Theoretically you can beat certain games if they play by the rules, but the casino post-pandemic has every game rigged so they have virtually 100% control and pretty much always win.
The only way to beat the casino is to go one time and go all in on blackjack and win

Ive never seen someone win through side bets, but as a dealer I've seen many people win consistently over months and get banned on the main bet.
Phil Ivey was banned for deck selection. He was allowed to pick a certain brand of card ( because of how high his stakes were ) that he knew had rank identifying defects on the back.
Bakarat is a literal coin flip. You can't be good at it and you can't be bad at it. Ivey crushed Bakarat in two different casinos using edge sorting.

Look at it this way, though I'm not sure they meant this. If you beat the casinos rake, you're freerolling all of their progressive incentives to play. Bad beat jackpots, four flushes, quads or better, splash pots the casino is adding the money into, etc.

If there is a 1% chance of jackpot and the bet size is $1, if the jackpot is more than $100, you’re expected to win money until you hit the jackpot. Obviously it’s not guaranteed since it’s somewhat random, but it’s pretty basic math. If the expected value of a slot pull is greater than the price of a slot pull, you SHOULD make money over time.

I live in Vegas, been here for 10 yrs, worked at a few casinos, first guy is right, poker doesn’t really count, your taking other peoples money, and most of the time if you have a couple Sharks at the table there’s some sort of body language agreement or pre game talk at the bar and they kinda silently agree to take the rich newbies money.
Hardest part about black jack if your counting is to not look like your counting. Other than that, if you load the table with some solid dudes who can do basic math and know when to hit and when to stay, a few of you can make out.
As for the progressive games he mentioned; that’s the most true thing. There’s actually a slew of homeless people who come in with money they begged for and hunt down these machines. Don’t think for a second that you can win on progressive slots. I’m a former slot manager for a large casino company, and now I’m an independent contractor within the casino industry. Slots are called, “one armed bandits” for a reason. 80%-85% of all profits made by casinos is from slots. Just because a progressive reaches a certain amount does not mean that it will hit soon, because progressives go up very slowly. It could be one spin, or 10,000, you don’t know.
There are certain machines that need to hit by a certain amount, but those ones are usually tied to either other machines on the floor, or machines in other casinos. There is no guarantee that your machine will be the one that hits.
He's talking expected value. So if, on top of all the other returns, there is a 1 in 1 million chance to hit the jackpot on a $1 spin, and the jackpot is $100,000, the expected value increases by $0.10. If the normal RTP of a slot is 70%, then when the jackpot is bigger than $300,000 the expected value of a spin on that slot will be positive.
But positive EV for machines like that is kinda silly, as the variance is so big that it doesn't really matter that it's positive EV.
I don’t want to get into details, and I wasn’t as naive as I may think I was, because I knew something was up. But I had a “paid for” 3 day weekend in Vegas, and learned how to gamble slots. So I did know this, from what I’d call a “professional” gambler.
