  • How to use a socket wrench you ask! Well, this is just one small part of how to use a ratchet and socket set.
    Normally small, DIY/hobby ratchet sets include a small plastic spin disk and this video show you how to use it effectively.
    Note, DO NOT discard the plastic disk with your ratchet set!

    It’s called a spin disk. It’s to more efficiently remove the nut after the ratchet has done it’s job in loosening it.

    Wanted one of those for my ratchet. Couldn't find one. Found one one day included in a super cheap tool set at Harbor Freight. Bought the kit just for the spinner. Most mechanics tools sets don't include this little spinner disk anymore.

    This comes in handy when the nut or bolt is still too loose to be able to start the ratcheting action as the fastner just turns both ways and doesn't overcome the small amount of torque required to latch the ratchet.

      If you search for thumbwheel or palm ratchet, you can find variations of a spin disc.

    • @RudiOnTheLine
      @RudiOnTheLine  Рік тому +1

      Yes, palm and thumb ratchets are awesome for low-torque quick winding of a nut or bolt.

    • @kuangsheng3891
      @kuangsheng3891 3 роки тому +3

      Just lets you finger tighten the fastener before you bother going to town with the whole ratchet. I know sometimes I've got more thread to go before you really need to start swinging back and forth. Honestly its still pretty useless but that's the idea I suppose.
