i can understand this pain, every time i go for cycling, i go crazy and angry because roads and people are so bad, no one follows traffic rules, everyone is on a hurry, this makes me really angry, and most of the vehicles and truck cut you or pass you so close that if you do not react then you will die, or get seriously injured, its very painful to ride on indian streets.
Do more of these cycling commute videos please, they’re very nice to watch!
Hi Vishrut.

Nice to watch, but for the doer it is playing with limb and life bro.
(Well done....Bro)
I am curious to know...what type of outfit you wear while commuting.
Because when I wear a typical cycling outfit...everybody is seeing me like some extraterresstrial species escaped from AREA 51.
RESPONDS MOI
I wear a cycling jersey and cycling shorts. but I wear normal shorts on top of it.
This is so true lol
Exactly, if anyone on the road has a flashy bicycle people will just forget their riding for a moment and will try to mock the cyclist so that he gets hugely embarrassed and his confidence level goes crashing down and starts to feel a sense of insecurity.
@@pushkar3922 sooo truee..
As a teenage girl i feel so insecure while cycling 😕
@@roudridas5446 Yep I understand, who knows when the society would change.
Traffic signals thought more as suggestions rather than rules ... This is deep😓
Thank you Jordan. yes sad but true and we all are part of the problem and to be blamed
Someone who goes to school by cycling for about 4Km, the part about good brakes is just so true. Good Luck and Good Brakes are the only thing I can say about cycling here.
You're riding on the wrong side of the road a couple of times and then complaining..
Technically yes, but legally no.... cycles are not prohibited by rules
There are no rules lol
it's not the rules but basic riding and road ethics which ppl follow even while walking
Yup. A salmon. No good cyclist would do that.
@@prathaps848Rules apply to everyone who uses the road. This includes cyclists and pedestrians. We just choose to ignore yhem in India. Having traveled the world I have observed Indians following each and every rule of the country they reside in.
Donny Iama you are bad ass! That's like some strange video game where everything, road, cars, pedestrians, other cyclists, is out to obstruct you, and if you're not attentive, you're going down. Thanks for sharing that slice of life as a cyclist in Mumbai. That was hair raising. I love the commentary too, e.g. this wonderful line: "Traffic signals are thought more as suggestions rather than rules, and everybody is more than willing to break them." Stay safe.

Watching this during Lockdown just to keep myself sane.

Sir I have been doing 40kms on every alternate days on my MTB since quite a while now. But now I want to shift to a Road Bike. But I don't know how they will perform on Indian roads. Mostly I will be riding on Highways. So should I go for Road or Gravel Bike? Will Gravel bike give me the same speed on good roads?
When he said "since most people believe in reincarnation we don't really worry about dying while crossing the road" I couldn't stop myself lmao 😂😂😂😂
Glad to know you enjoyed the video Srija and you found the sarcasm funny.

Do you suggest a drop handle bar to navigate busy Mumbai traffic? Help me so I take the right decision for my new bike
I personally like drop bars since they are a bit narrow than the wide mtb bars and I can enter small corners. Also I have been riding on drop bars for a long time so I am used to it. If it's your first time then it will take some time getting used to since the steering is very nippy compared to a mtb bike. but you will get used to it. if you are not comfortable with drop bars then I would suggest you to put mtb bars that are not so wide. but a little smaller in width. Hope this helps. and good luck on your purchase
Bro im confused between roadbikes and mountain bikes. Since we have bad roads in india, will i my bike face problems if I ride a roadbike daily on such roads or can a roadbike handle potholes, cracks, patchwork, gravel etc.
Hi Somesh.
i personally use a road bike for daily commutes to office with a 25 or 28 mm tyre and use an mtb for touring. With the mentioned tyre size you will have no problems with bad roads.
In the end it comes down to which style of riding you prefer. but both the styles of cycling will be great for city commutes.
Also road bikes are much faster than mtb.
So keep that in mind. in the end go with which ever cycle you are comfortable with.
if you like mtb then you can use road tyres on the mtb and make a faster commute.
Hope this helps.
Take care and safe riding.

I was wondering what cycling would actually entail in India, and this video didn't disappoint with the stereotypes lol
Is it possible to ride bicycle during the monsoon also I'm new to bicycling I want to ride a bicycle on the road but I'm scared if I slip can you please guide me on some steps on it like how can I gain confidence thank you
Hello Priyanka.
infact monsoons are the best time to ride a cycle enjoying the rain as you pedal along.
Just remember to apply both the front and the rear brake together.
Also a cycle is much slower than a bike so even if you do happen to slip you will easily control it by putting your foot on the ground.
The best way to practice riding during the monsoons is to ride slow till you are comfortable . And then you can slowly increase your speed as you get comfortable. the only way to be good at riding a cycle during the rains is to keep riding and the more experience you have the better you become. But you will slip and maybe fall once or twice thats for sure. so keep that in mind. That is why you should always wear a helmet and a visible neon jacket if you are out on the main road.
Hope this helps. Take care and ride safe.

Super video! How is it to ride a road bike on our broken roads? Would you suggest it over an MTB?
Thank you Ankit.
I personally love riding a road bike since it is very enjoyable. The travel is fast and fun. A mountain bike on the other hand is a bit slow. The ideal setup would be a mountain bike with road tyres.
Take care and safe riding.
Is road cycle on indian roads a good idea...how long will the cycle(any specific part of cycle) last if you're daily for commute ....like there are a lot of potholes, not so smooth roads,etc...Is MTB a better option....
A road cycle is as reliable as a mountain bike. I have been personally riding a road bike for a long time so I am used to it. But honestly a mountain bike with road tyres would be the best option for Indian roads.
Buy what you want to ride.
Which Cycle U r using bro? (Model name and cost?)
It’s a Schwinn fast back 2 . It’s an old cycle. 2011
I've been cycling for 7 to 8 years since school days and college days. Now I'm 28 and I've not had a bicycle for 4,5 years. I'm planning to get either a hero sprint pro ceralo or similar options under 14k. Usage would be like early morning rides and some day long rides. Can you please suggest me gear bicycles to ride on our highways. Mumbai eastern express highway. Since lock down period I also hesitate whether I'm taking a wrong decision or should I be waiting for everything to get normal and then buy. Sorry too much to explain here ✌
Hi Sumin.
Glad to know you want to take up cycling again. I would suggest you to buy a btwin cycle from decathlon. it will be 4k more than your budget but it is worth it. Hero sprint maybe good as well but the gear system in the btwin is tried and tested and it is good. Also it has good sales and after service.
Hope that helps. Take care and safe riding.
@@donnylama I finally bought a bicycle yesterday. Decathlon are closed hence that want an option near Vikhroli to me. However I was able to manage to get myself to Hero store at Ghatkopar Ryder cycles. They had many options in MTB. I finally took the Hercules Roadeo Havoc 27.5 2019. 😇😇😇
@@suminnair4576 congrats Sumin. The Hero Roadeo is a great cycle and the 27.5 tyres are perfect for commuting and long rides. Hope you have many happy journeys with it.

Hi Donny, could you tell me what would be the best Hybrid Cycle for Mumbai roads, for 20 k
Hi Kaiwan. the best hybrid you can get for that price is decathlon triban, hybrid cycles. it comes in a flat bar and a drop bar. best value for money
Wow that's an awesome ride. I love to watch bicycle riding in India n roads. If possible plz post more video in cut or full commute video. Thanks
Love your video. This condition reminds me of cycling in China as a teenager and puts a smile on my face. Stay safe on the road brother!
thank you so much steve. Yes i guess the situation is very similar hahaha.
glad to know you enjoyed it. Thank you once again and safe riding
It’s like that here in NYC too. Cycling on the road feels soooo unsafe. People are jogging on the road like thier bikes on the road. Trucks and other bigger vehicles pass way to closely. Using arm turn signals gets dangerous sometimes because some cars speed up. Almost taking off your arm. Also some motorist and mopeds try to skip traffic. By passing all the cars passing bikes on the bike lanes. Then vehicles park on the bikes lanes or in other sides of the road bikes suppose to be.
What helmet are you using??
Hi Pabal. I use a skateboarding helmet from Decathlon.
Awesome video man here before it goes viral
Thank you Deb. You are too kind. take care
Hey is it difficult to ride a road bike in city traffic?
no. actually it is much easier and comfortable than an mtb
Which Indian cities are best for road biking and which for trail biking? Anyone?
Chandigarh bhai or hindi mai bolo mai chandigarh mai rehta hu 😊
Please upload a fully uncut version of the riding video.
Is montra helicon x is a good bike?
Yes it is a good bike. Value for money. if you have the budget then go for it. Just get a proper bike fitting done from a professional for optimum comfort
The amount of sarcasm in this monologue is probably more than I'd encounter in a month. xD
It is risky to ride during day as people don’t care for cyclist and traffic is to much and roads are not good enough for cycling a road bike. Should I get a mtb or road bike to ride in Mumbai and for little long rides?
Hi Andrew. It feels risky for the first week or so but once you understand the rhythm of the traffic and as you get more confident then it gets better. start by cycling during the weekends and then the weekdays. For Bombay traffic and long rides a road bike is best with 25c tyres as they don't give you pinch flats. it is also faster.
I have a road bike and an mtb and I prefer a road bike. and I ride mtb for cycle backpacking and touring for the extra luggage and weight. try both of them and then see which one you are more comfortable.

Which road bike is it
Hi Raj, its a Schwinn Fastback 2013 model, with shimano claris groupset.
does your 70k bike has tourney group set?
nope. it has sora group set.
Personally it doesn't matter much as long as the gearing is right. the only difference is that sora is much lighter and less maintenance. where as a tourney is very basic and the components not so great. But if you learn how to fix it then even a tourney will do.
At the end of the day it is not the cycle but the person riding it. if you want you can even ride on a normal cycle under 15k and it will still do the job.
Love it, thankyou

One question bike with out suspension is difficult to drive I think.
Not really. you don't need suspension unless you are going off road down hill. In fact a suspension bike is slower if you are riding in normal road conditions or commuting.Take care and ride safe
I'm glad to find your video. I've been struggling to be motivated to ride my bike in Jakarta where the traffic is similar to yours.
What are the top 5 Indian Brand Bicycles in 2020( High End $$$)? Thanks
You are asking the wrong person.
What is your cycle brand.
Hi Aditya, my road bike is the Schwinn fastback 1 2012 model.
I had to show this to one of my online friend, just to prove I cycle in "professional" conditions
How do you manage it without a bell?
Hi Raghav,
The cycle bell is anyways pretty useless in a city like bombay. After riding in the city for sometime, you will understand how the traffic functions and will start going with the flow.
@@donnylama Cool 👍.

Hello sir,
Great video.
Can you tell us the name of your road bike and how Is it performing in such roads, just curious cause they are Light weight and not meant to be driven on such roads, i own an hybrid and planning to switch to a roadbike but i am scared because of road conditions in my city.
Hello Deepak.
My roadbike is a Schwinn Fast back 2. i honestly prefer a road bike over other cycles since they are light and very fast. Ofcourse it may not be as comfortable as a hybrid or a mountain bike , since i have been using a roadbike for many years, i am used to it so no problem
but if comfort is your priority then stick to a hybrid or a mountain bike with road tyres.
If you like a road bike then just go for it. You will feel unfomfortable for some time but once you get used to it then no problem. Just remember to have tyres atlest 25c or bigger to avoid pinch flats in broken roads.
hope this helps. take care and ride safe
@@donnylama Surely that helps sir and thanks a ton for answering, i will definitely go for road bike & will get used to it. The only tip i can give you is to ride a little bit on the road everyday. Its a matter of confidence. Keep increasing your time on the road as you get confident. This could take days or weeks.

Nice video. I would like to say something about the part at 1:51. It can be dangerous because you are on the fast track and can get stuck there if the vehicles are moving fast. I would say, its safer to wait and cross the road to the slow part of the lane. Saying this because I have got trapped and its dangerous.
