I didn’t realize that Kay says the same thing to Jay at the end as the old guy in the beginning
It’s sad they spend their career knowing that one day all their memories of it will be erased.
I guess that’s not much different from how we live our lives knowing one day we’ll die, but it’s still kinda melancholy.
I liked the call back though, K does the same with J, "look at the stars, they're beautiful, you never really look at them anymore"

A third of us get our memories erased through Alzheimer's. Plenty of people know they have a strong pre-disposition to early onset Dementia as well as it runs in the family. Plenty of us right now live life knowing our memories will be erased.

It’s 2024 and it’s amazing that this movie doesn’t look dated at all (except Will’s orange MC Hammer pants). What a classic!

Seriously, the alien dude didn't need to commit suicide. Edgar, the bug was not that unreasonable, as we see later in the movie. He pretty much found Orions' belt all on his own, too.
They never explain why the cops start to chase the alien dude in the first place anyway.
Do people seriously not understand basic subtext? He talks about "he's going to kill me because I failed him" referring to "Edgar" and his search for the galaxy. Why he's being chased by new york cops? Obviously has to do with that failure to secure the galaxy. Maybe, I don't know, attempted robbery of an old man? Say, an old man with a cat?
The alien dude had one job and he failed also for him suicide was better the being eaten alive a slow and painful death.
Dude, Edgar the Alien was actually pretty unreasonable 'cause he killed Rosenberg and that tall guy without hesitation, he would do the same with this guy.
And he probably was being chased because the Orion's belt was in a jewelry store, so maybe he tried to steal it from there but was surprised by the cops, it was probably his last attempt because he knew that Edgar was coming.
Edgar Bug wasn't *that* reasonable. He killed 4 or 5 characters (the tow truck driver probably died from a shotgun blast, but it's not confirmed) and if Orion's Belt wasn't found, Earth was gonna be in deep jeopardy. Edgar would have eaten "M," and he didn't care if she was a queen on her planet or not - he said he was OK with wars starting over her death.
It was New York in 1997, Giuliani was Mayor, stop and frisk was the norm. They didn't need a reason
So now we know where all the wild fires come from 😂
Mikey’s resigned groans are my favorite part about this scene. Always makes me laugh

@@gochem3013 Its NYC, no idea what or why that flag is there. The main character is a NY policeman, and you can recognize many features of NYC in the shots.

Well it was probably the first time this concept came to film.
MIB 2 was more lighthearted and joking, MIB 3 felt more like 1 and not quite as silly as 2, but it still didn't feel as dark as 1.
Or is part of it just that I was just 6 or so years old when I first saw parts of 1?
