Natalie appears to have issues with attachment and abandonment as well as trauma. Her ideas of love involves a static image she has in her mind and any sign of deviation from that image, causes her immense anxiety. Her self image is firmly tied to her ideas of how her “love story” will unfold and due to the fact that a man she just met wouldn’t have had a chance to learn about her fixed delusion of what love looks like, the man invariably get’s wrong sending Natalie to the depths of despair. She is getting older and that realization keeps creeping in her consciousness causing her even more distress. She needs a competent trauma based therapist that will help Natalie find her strength and genuine love for herself instead of the love she shows to the image she created. I hope TLC gives her the support she desperately needs. I am loving your content BTW, very insightful!
TLC isn’t responsible for giving Natalie mental help! If anything, they should cut her from the show all together until she gets the help she needs, and then maybe invite her to come back on when she gets her head screwed on right. Natalie is a grown adult, she doesn’t actively do anything for herself to better her situations, which is why her ex is still supporting her ass financially. Look, mental help isn’t her fault, but getting the help and treatment IS her responsibility!

It's like she builds this fantasy in her head about the person she's seeing and then he isn't the person she made up in her mind, she freaks out and loses it. She needs to learn to observe and see what kind of person she's dating first instead of jumping to all these conclusions and expectations and then making her heart feel like it's ripping apart because she didn't look at who they were as a person and only saw the magical fantasy she built up in her mind. It's actually scary. And I could be entirely wrong, I don't reside inside her mind. But I have known people who do this and the cycle never stops and they never take accountability so it's back to the same old vicious cycle as soon as someone new is in their life.

I am so sorry Angie. My parents were both in a motorcycle accident last year and I was caring for them both. My dad's injuries weren't as bad but my mom was wheelchair bound and it was a rough few months. But we got through it. It's definitely depressing if you need someone to talk to I can listen for you.

I think for Natalie, the man has to basically act like shes his goddess and orbit around her, do whatever she wants and shower her in love and affection without having time or thoughts to himself. To a certain extend Id understand wanting to be showered in affection but shes so deep into it that she doesnt realize that she overreacts a lot and cant get out of her head in those situations... I hate how many people call Natalie crazy. She's obviously got some serious psychological issues, attachment wounds, trauma and as someone who has Borderline, I see a lot of my behaviour in her. When I feel abandoned (which is my worst fear) I push people away even more to protect myself, but secretly still hope they come back so I can cling onto them. I test the people closest to me to find out about their true intentions because my trust issues are so severe, which only causes more disappointment and conflict.

It's like she builds this fantasy in her head about the person she's seeing and then he isn't the person she made up in her mind, she freaks out and loses it. She needs to learn to observe and see what kind of person she's dating first instead of jumping to all these conclusions and expectations and then making her heart feel like it's ripping apart because she didn't look at who they were as a person and only saw the magical fantasy she built up in her mind.
It's actually scary. And I could be entirely wrong, I don't reside inside her mind. But I have known people who do this and the cycle never stops and they never take accountability so it's back to the same old vicious cycle as soon as someone new is in their life.

I am so sorry Angie. My parents were both in a motorcycle accident last year and I was caring for them both. My dad's injuries weren't as bad but my mom was wheelchair bound and it was a rough few months. But we got through it.

I think for Natalie, the man has to basically act like shes his goddess and orbit around her, do whatever she wants and shower her in love and affection without having time or thoughts to himself. To a certain extend Id understand wanting to be showered in affection but shes so deep into it that she doesnt realize that she overreacts a lot and cant get out of her head in those situations... I think she really needs some self reflection but I only wish her the best and that she can find happiness

I hate how many people call Natalie crazy. She's obviously got some serious psychological issues, attachment wounds, trauma and as someone who has Borderline, I see a lot of my behaviour in her. When I feel abandoned (which is my worst fear) I push people away even more to protect myself, but secretly still hope they come back so I can cling onto them. I test the people closest to me to find out about their true intentions because my trust issues are so severe, which only causes more disappointment and conflict.
Aww, I can relate to the abandonment issues and self sabotage. I definitely call Natalie "crazy" as a joke but I'm realizing more and more I probably shouldn't throw that word around even if it's in a joking manner. Thanks for sharing your story

I rewatched natalie and Michaels segment and she was so sweet and caring when they would talk over the phone. But this scene of her crying on the bed is the SAME as the like third episode of theirs where she did the same to Mike bc he wouldn’t give her a baby before she even gets to the US. She’s literally shape shifting but with emotions I don’t get how she does this.
