So, you hop onto this platform, and the first thing that catches your eye is this big plus sign. Click on that, and you're in the world of woodworking. There's a variety of wood pieces to choose from, and even some connectors that work with wood are thrown into the mix.
You start with something simple, like a 2x2 inch piece of lumber. Here's where it gets interesting: you can extend the wood in different directions and rotate it right when you place it. Plus signs appear, letting you add more pieces at the ends or sides. And guess what? You can toggle between centimeters and inches - super handy for precision.
Adding another piece is a breeze. You get these configuration options popping up, allowing you to tweak the placement just right. Need to adjust the length or move it around? No sweat. The platform's got a feature for that. Just remember to drag from the bottom for perfect alignment.
They're even adding a feature soon to show the exact distance from each side, making your design more precise.
Now, let's say you want to add something at the end, and it doesn't align. Don't worry, they've got a fix for that too. You can adjust the length until it aligns perfectly. The platform is intuitive enough to help you add more pieces, move them around, and see everything come together.
And the parts list? It's like your personal shopping list, telling you what you need to cut and use.
But here's the cool part: you're not just limited to wood. The tutorial shows how you can switch to materials like PVC, mix and match, and even play with aluminum 8020 in future updates.
Once you're happy with your design, save it, share it with friends, or load it on your phone. They've got undo and redo actions too, in case you want to tweak things.
In a nutshell, if you're into DIY wood projects, this platform is like having a workshop at your fingertips. It's all about making woodworking fun, easy, and super creative. And the best part? You can experiment with different materials and bring your unique ideas to life!

this site is amazing. Couple things that would make it better would be if you could rotate view without having to grab the tedious cube in the bottom corner. And when you go to move parts it doesn't change your whole view
This program is amazing, SOOOO much more intuitive than SketchUp! If you're interested in suggestions, can you add a 1x5 inch wood option? Also, I second the need for a ruler/measuring tool and a copy paste function. Finally, could you add a feature that allows you to extend the length of a group of pieces. For example, if I want to extend the height of a box, currently I need to delete the top pieces in order to extend the side piecees. But it would be nice to be able to select all the side pieces and extend them as a group without needing to delete the top pieces. But again, this is awesome for those of us who struggle with numbers.
This program is really great. Using it to draft my bar counter. Thank you so much.
This site is kick-ass! Thank you so much
Amazing! I have been looking for this software for years. I am not a woodworker by any stretch of the imagination, and I love the simple interface. It mimics my build style. Grab a piece of wood cut it to length and put it in. I dont want to spend days modeling parametric lumber, I just want to click and place. You have made that a reality. I am sure you have quite a few features you are working on and will definitely be watching the progression of this software, and finally building the pieces that i want to. You are doing amazing work.
In the future, I hope to see some features to distribute, align, and preselect lengths to connect parallel items.
Thank you so much for these kind words! This gives our team an extra boost to keep working on this software and we will definitely take your suggestions into consideration. WIP :)
thank you, i was trying to figure out how to add parts. Day 1 for me designing a custom bunkbed
Hello, can i copy and paste material instead of choose a new one and resize it again?
We have one other feature we are working on and then we will be focusing on copy and paste! Thanks for letting us know!
A ruler tool to select 2 points and see dimensions would be quite helpful.
We will definitely consider this one in our backlog
Great tool-smooth, quick, and with just the right features. As a Dutch user, I noticed that the basic materials are in inches and have different base size than available for me. For example, a 2x2 inch (50.8x50.8 mm) piece is not available in our local hardware stores; the closest is 44x44 mm. While there is an option to change the length (also in centimeters), is there an option to manually adjust the width and height of the material as well?
So happy you like crafty. We will have those up by end of next week!
@@navids5275 Great! Looking forward... In that same theme; if I resize something in cm, it looks if its not possible to make an exact measurement. e.g. it corrects 100cm to 99,7cm, or 50cm tot 50.17cm. Is there a setting to adjust to get a correct measurement?
@@mailrvdl Yes we are fixing that as well
@@mailrvdl Hi we've now fixed this and also added some common sizes of wood in metric system. We're adding more next week. Feel free to write us to let us know of any specific sizes.
I have looked for so long for a good program to do woodshop projects.
I'm old and can't seem to grasp Sketchup.
I really like what you have here, but want to know how to do framing layout for a sauna I'm designing/building.
The basic wall dimensions are 6'd x 6'h x 8'l with 16" centers. I've not figured out how to use this to show dimensions between wall studs...
Thanks
Hi - we made this for you! make.craftyamigo.com/design/Jt5DsheTtAQt3o7bno8di1d0pv33/HN4gVp5hXSYEbxB3gak3
@@craftyamigo That's great...
I really appreciate this.
@@craftyamigo
I really appreciate you giving me a "head start" on my sauna project. I'm slowly leaning a little at a time using this...
Another question: Am I able to convert these 2x2's to 2x4's?
How come the MOVE option isn't available on my third piece? I am trying to make a simple work bench table frame from 2x4s.
This is now fixed. Thanks for your patience
I'm trying to rotate a piece on different axis. I saw the option to rotate XYZ only one time. The option is longer there. How do I get the XYZ option to come back for rotation?
The first item is only able to rotate on all axis because it's not attached to anything.
We are soon adding the ability to add items in "free form" space and then you will be able to rotate those with whatever access before you attach them
Also, it keeps adding .13 to the length of pieces. I need a piece to be exactly 12" but no matter what number I enter it keeps adding .13". How do I stop that from happening?
Do you think you could send me a screenshot of what's happening? navid at craftyamigo.com
Hi, how could I adjust the width instead of length?
@@JoeyQuach currently you have to find a part that has the right width but we are working on a custom size feature next. It’ll be up by mid October
So, there's no way to put anything at angles other than 90°?
Yes there is! Can you email me with what you’re trying to do? And I’ll make you a quick video. Hi at craftyamigo.com
Seems like a great tool (although missing some basic features like copy/paste). However, there's no information about or indication of nominal wood size vs actual wood size, nor can I add custom wood sizes/pieces to account for these differences. I feel like this should be a fundamental feature for a program that is meant for designing woodworking projects and generating a parts list.
Hi! We use nominal sizes. We will add that to the app this week so it’s clear
I agree with you regarding the basics. We are working next on custom dimension generation and then copy and paste.
@@craftyamigo I agree with @Aaronite, it would be nice to be able to use acutal wood sizes or account for the difference
@@Shaxprlover Hi! we do use actual (nominal) sizes for all our parts.
We need free control of the camera =)
We are working on this now. Should be all done in April.
This is now done @xolrecx !
As a former teacher, this was a mess. I love the website but this should have been completed in steps with a finished product to demonstrate the process - just my opinion.
thanks for your suggestion. we'll work on one of those videos asap!
