Khathia Buniathisvili is head greatest interpreter of the last generation of pianists. few hands amalgamate today a technical virtuosity and such an amazing expression. Khatia has printed on her natural trait with an excellent technical balance, in the case of Kathia Buniathsvili, we are looking at a soloist who has arrived to stay, with an innovative style that marks the difference of the predecessors
A very different interpretation. Dreamlike and hazy, like Gretchen recalling the events of the song through a lifetime of other experiences. Lacks the immediacy of the text, though, especially given the lack of accelerandos. And the way the "kuss" in this reading is perhaps too tender and lacking in the lusty hysteria of what Schubert wrote. Makes for an interesting comparison with Kissin's and Yuja Wang's versions.
Liszt was fastidious about making his song transcriptions follow the lyrics precisely and this piece is actually singable - though who would be able to compete with the complex piano realization... The lyrics are loaded with a repressed sensuality that is charged with sexual overtones and one can imagine Liszt "composing" several climaxes for this short piece...
The genius of Schubert + the magic of Khatia Buniatishvili = sheer perfection.
phew that was so fucking good. she's wonderful - and it continues to be astonishing that SCHUBERT WAS 17 WHEN HE WROTE THIS SONG
Müssen uns die Menschen ohne Kinderstube immer ihr unflätiges 'f***-ing' zumuten?

When and where was this performance taking place? Thanks!
Verbier Festival - 2013, 25th July.
her biggest challenge is her beauty distracts the listener from her playing.

This comment is almost as beautiful as the performance it discusses, and I completely agree with it.
Have you heard Brigitte Engerer's interpretation of the same piece? I'd be delighted to read your critique: ua-cam.com/video/77H5p2wFAAU/v-deo.html

houmous, I just listened to it. I feel like Engerer’s is a bit heavy, but without any fretful payoff. I think my favorite remains young Kissin.
Why compare?? This blows my mind!! 🧵🪡💌 Don't forget the text!! Khatia thank you so much!❤❤❤
눈물난다.
Another benchmark performance by Khatia.

Das sind Lieder....und sonst nix....
Too fast, and the left hand is too loud....should be more like Earle Wild's interpretation of chopin nocturnes
