another brilliant piece of art...love the journey from a blah chunk of wood to the beautiful finished product, I so appreciate your talent Andy, thanks for sharing!!!
That is beautiful. The painted inside is a great contrast with the pale wood and I don't think I've seen any other turning project use paint, people seem so 'invested' in epoxy that it's a really nice to see. Bit scary turning the inside but it went really well. Thanks 🙂
Andy, Really nice no super cool. My wife and I were questioning the blue interior but you never cease to surprise us. We loved what did and gave me some ideas for a few multiple crouch’s that I have. Nice job my friend.
You mentioned the smell of this wood; Have you had the pleasure of working Plum or Pear before? Amazing smells! While I've never worked Pear personally, I have a Tenor Recorder cut from an 80-year old Pear tree. Even after being worked with and played for years; the wood smells amazing and I can't imagine that would be worse when working with it's raw, tree-shaped form. You have such a talent for this, honestly just the best videos to watch and relax~.
Hi Andy. I enjoy watching the turn of your odd pieces. (i.e. turning the air/the negative spaces with this Elder) It's beautiful, with its fine detail work. It's really nice.
The texture and coloring is cool. I was waiting to see if you were going to give interior a light sanding to make it look like blue honeycomb. Looks good the way it is.
Just to let you know, I didn't get my notification for this! Naughty UA-cam! Loved the title. It's perfect! Of course, so is the outcome of your awesome talent!
Yh was going to say, Elder. The folklore for Elder is that it protects the home it grows by & it's bad luck to cut it down. It's also supposed to release bad spirits if it's burnt so people didn't burn it. I have 3 in my garden I love it.
@AndyPhillipWoodturning its a bit of trypophobia for me, but it's still miles ahead of what I can do. I can't make a cup without it flying across my garage at least twice. Good work, man.
You went against the grain, so to speak, with this one. I have never seen anyone even attempt to do the texturing on the inside only. Fantastic effect!
Interesting piece. Form some clear or light color resin and you could have a bulb lamp. Or you could cut off part of skinny part to have some type of lounge chair key/change holder. Overall good work keep it up.
I don’t think I’ve seen you paint wood before. I know you’ve used coloured fillers and of course varnish but it was so effective having the light wood and the blue on the inside
The overall shape, at least approximately, was clearly the only way it could go, but the finish was a surprise. I like the texture - that was a surprise - but I'm less sure about that bright blue. I think I'd have preferred a metallic finish which would really highlight the texture, perhaps gold or bronze.
Ever thought about using a strobe light to “stop the piece” as you turn it? That would be an awesome visual! Although it might make some folks have seizures!😳
Nice piece Andy, the engraving and color makes it really pop. That looks like a heavy very stable carbide adjustable tip tool. Can you tell me the manufacturer? Kind of have some of my Easy Tool carbides maxed out. Stay safe.
Would you ever consider making a video about your tools and whatthey specifically do? I know you dont talk in your vids but maybe some editing magic could do the trick? Have a great day!!
At first I was like "Why are you turning it that way with the cut base as the base? Why not sideways?" But I like the hollow form shape of the finished piece. As a thought for another crotch piece, but maybe one with a tighter V. What if you partially turned it like this one so that you have kind of rounded on the sides, and then flip it so you're carving out the front bark side into the bowl?
Lovely piece of Elder 👍🏻
Good man 👍 I thought it might be elder after doing a bit of research
Sure is , nice turn I like the effect inside it looks refreshing.👍🏻
@@AndyPhillipWoodturning Elder has a hole that goes through the pith (used to be used for bellows) did you see anything like that?
Yes, the centre pith was just mush and left a hole 👍
@@AndyPhillipWoodturning 100% then, it's elder
Unknown Crotch Log! that was the name of my punk band in high school! Another crazy beautiful creation. looks like some kind of alien tool
🤣Thanks

Really nice, Andy. You were right - the color and texture on the inside made all the difference in the world.
Bill
Stunning piece, Andy! Really amazing! It's a work of art! 😃

That inside texturing was such a cool choice!

Thankyou .. I've worked with Plum .. This was definitely the worst thing I've turned
Very modern art work. This would look so nice in a picture window. So cool. 🇺🇸👍🏼
Hi Andy. I enjoy watching the turn of your odd pieces. (i.e. turning the air/the negative spaces with this Elder) It's beautiful, with its fine detail work. It's really nice.
Many thanks!
I love the under-the-sea look you created with this piece!!
Fabulous! Has a very fluid like feel to it and the textured interior finished it off
Thankyou 👍

Beautiful work. I’m not a paint person but that actually made it look awesome. Great choice.
Thank you very much!

Thank you!
That is so different but beautiful none the less.
Very nice, A truly fine piece of art.
Thank you
Awesome piece sir love that color.
Thank you
Pretty cool piece
Amazing skill.
It's beautiful Andy!!!
I could not figure out what this was going to be. A very unusual piece of artwork.
Very nice!! With a light bulb in the centre it would be a nice lamp too.
It’s a very pale coloured wood and I was wondering if it was perhaps Willow as that has a bad smell when split. I like the finished piece though.
Thank you.. After a bit of research I think it is Elder
Very beautiful ❤️
Very nice piece Andy. Something different. 👏
Thanks 👍
Just beautiful
I love the outside of it very nice
Very nice Piece!
Thanks

Very Richard West! Beautiful!
Thanks ... Richard does some awesome pieces, I'll take that as a compliment
Very impressive.
To be honest, I had my doubts until the end, but it turned out great.
I liked it right up to the golf ball texture.
I thought it might not be for everyone but it seemed a bit bland to me
@AndyPhillipWoodturning its a bit of trypophobia for me, but it's still miles ahead of what I can do. I can't make a cup without it flying across my garage at least twice. Good work, man.
Brilliant!
Every time you go from the sped up footage to normal speed i think you do it because something is about to come flying off .😮
😂
Nice, something different! Haven't forgotten about you, had a very busy Easter with fam and friends. Chat soon.
Beautiful ❤❤❤

Looks amazing! Just wondering what RPM you start with?
Thanks.. I just go as fast as I can without my lathe jumping about , don't usually check the speed but think it was around 500
Спасибо!!! 👍👍👍
Cool way to turn a crotch piece... I thought it would make a good diorama...😊

Does that amount of vibration give you trouble maintaining the lathe?
No, never had a problem with it

Are you sure you didn't mean to use that Title for your Only Fans??? 😉
Nice work... an interesting use of color and texture.
😅Thanks
tripping the trypophobia again 🔵🔵🔵🔵🔵
Andy what is that your screwing your chuck onto ? Is it some kinda attachment for the bango ?
I love the finished, turned out beautifully
Thanks. . Yes it's called a carving jig, I got it from Simon Hope Woodturning
What device did you use to record the video?
A gopro
Like it.
Amazing

On this I used hollowing tools by Simon Hope Woodturning

A lovely shape, I even got used to the dimples but I don’t get the paint job, sorry.
Sorry! I'll try to save it. it is too big and noisy early!😅
I'll try watch again😅😮😅
👍👍👍!
To make this POP i would put a black stain inside and then gold leaf on the edges!
Reminds me of your logo
