I dunno if anyone here would find it useful, but there's an AMAZING water soluble adhesive called It Stays! Body Adhesive (I get it through Sockdreams, as they intend it for holding up thigh highs). It washes off easily and has never managed to irritate my relatively sensitive skin. I definitely intend to use it for cosplay when I transition from watching cosplay vids to actually making cosplay.

This is really cool! I have been getting into sewing recently (mostly for mending things), and I really like to wear thigh-highs just out and about but it bothers me a lot that over the day they slump down my legs. I wonder if I could do something like this to turn my thigh-highs into leggings, with the top part being like short-shorts made out of illusion or powernet fabric...
That's awesome! I started in a similar way, mending is a great gateway to sewing your own stuff. And you can absolutely do that, especially if you want a little shaping too, power net is great for that kind of stuff.
I swear to god, the algorithm is creepy. Today I was thinking to myself "I should learn how to sew costumes" and this video gets recommended. I've never spoken to anyone about it. I've never watched anything cosplay-related in my life. I am genuinely scared. Great video tough!

Lol it's regional based pronunciation, you're not saying it wrong... It just depends on where you grew up and go to school. There are 3 different ways to pronounce the word. It's a French rooted word so there are differences in English dialect that put emphasis on different parts. I'm Canadian, and I've only ever heard it pronounced the way I do. Americans, or Canadians who learned from an American, will pronounce it with a "dee", the "day" is closer to the original French. Don't worry to much about it, I certainly don't lol.
The origin of the word decal is from décalcomanie, which is a combo of décalquer, which means to copy or trace, and manie which means craze or mania. The "e" in the word is actually what is called l'accent aigu in French, or an acute accent, and it is usually pronounced close to the ay sound in "day". The English adaption of the word has dropped the accent emphasis on the "e" and as a result there are multiple accepted ways of pronouncing the word based on what dialect of English you speak.
Will I ever do a cosplay that requires this? No, am I still absolutely fascinated and thinking I could try it? Yes
I just enjoy knowing how it's accomplished.
