dont worry about ittt! i lived with a host family in korea for about a year when i was 15-16 (i got there right before my birthday) and i loved it! I mean, the learning experience i gained changed my life, i did have a lot of negative experiences but that happens almost everywhere u may go as a foreigner (especially a black one). Don't let that discourage you, 할수있어!
To be honest I think it depends on your level of attractivness. Not saying that this youtuber is ugly but if you are very pretty and black they will stare
It’s all on personal experience. UA-camrs are not over hyping the staring. I also got it a lot too. If you didn’t experience that it’s good for you but don’t underestimate them eyes and cameras (their cellphones) I’ve literally gotten so annoyed at times I’d turn my face in different directions
Yeah, you've been fortunate. That's all. I've been here for 14 months and counting. Get stared at every time I'm out. My friends went with me one day to Suwon and seen what I go through. They even freaked out when an old lady came up real close behind me to look at the sorcery that is Senegalese twists. And of course there's more stories when I went out! Everland, Seoraksan, Seoul, Pyeongtaek, the DMZ, and so on... So yeah. They do care, and you've just been fortunate.
Please don’t tone deaf other people’s experiences, that’s just your experience . You can’t say other people are making it up when you haven’t been around them thank you. ♥️
when I first got here I used to be so afraid to go into restaurants that are crowded. I'd stand outside contemplating my life haha. how i dont even care I go in and eat my food and leave.
I always see those videos where girls in Seoul or bigger cities like Busan or Daegu are like "I gEt StArEd At AlL tHe TiMe BeCaUsE i'M sO dIfFeReNT." I used to live in this small town called Cheongju and now I live in Seoul. The amount of staring was so much worse in Cheongju compared to Seoul. But weirdly enough I feel like you haven't had an authentic Korean experience until you live in a small town LOL
I’m a Fijian- American and I really want to move to South Korea when I’m older. I honestly had some worries about my dream because of certain things I’ve seen in other people’s videos but after watching yours I feel so much better. I literally just found your channel and I’m binge watching all of your videos! I love your videos so much, thank you for being so real.
Innit when i went to korea, there was not a day where someone didnt randomly take a photo of me on the street, train, airport... or just come and touch my hair without my permision. (Im a black girl btw)
Okay, you talking about the old people staring had me on the ground lmao I'm visiting Korea soon so there are many things that worry me but this put me at ease lol Thanks for making this!
I am not scared of the racism but I am scared of my reactions to that..I have slapmania disease dear so I don't want to end up in jail for beating someone.
Go ahead and travel. Racism exists in all sorts of places but this is your life and your opportunity. You may encounter it but you can find ways to stand up for yourself. I personally will say no to pictures, and started calling people out when I was able to speak the language. For any con there are so many pros to getting to experience living abroad. I wish you the best!
ayeeeeeee you’re haitian??? I loved this video btw so keep us updated bc most koreans think as black as in just african american when i’m actually haitian american
I love this and i just gotta ask like how will koreans react to a black muslim. I'm a black muslim girl and wanna come to S.K. but i know koreans ain't big on muslims in general. And altho it's nice to hear about them coming around with blacks and I've seen sime videos on few accepting muslims- by few i mean very tweenie- but how do they react to the combo. If you do a video to show mean how black muslims find S.K. and gow they are treated it would be very helpful
Hey there Kelsia 🙋🏻♀️ Watching your video in year 2021, hope you are well, i recently found ur videos while i was looking up ‘meeting Haitian men’ videos cuause i am a korean living in Haiti dating a Haitian man :) and this is where it got me! I Enjoying watching ur videos hope to see more more often 💐
Tell'em take a pic .. it lasts longer. Stares are so uncomfortable. But i think it depends on the area so you can't exactly say.... that stares aren't uncomfortable
The staring is real. I'm glad you've been able to avoid it but what other youtubers have talked about IS real. Let's not invalidate the experiences of others. I was better off being aware of these things before I had moved abroad because I had time to prepare myself mentally. Imagine what it would've been like if I had no clue. This being said, different countries and cities and even neighborhoods have different dynamics. I've found that in major cities there's less staring but in smaller towns or villages eyes are definitely on you. Places that have larger foreigner/Black populations have also cared less than those where foreigners are more of a rarity. There's room for both what was described in this video and in other videos to coexist. I hope no one will let fear of racism keep them from living abroad. For me, I experience in my home country so is it really so different to encounter it abroad? I hate it either way and it's always wrong, but we shouldn't have to sacrifice amazing life experiences just because other people are hateful and ignorant. I've dealt with racism, yes, but I've also have met soo many loving, welcoming, and genuinely kind people too.

Ya'll please lmfao do NOT go to this fcked up country. Little fun fact for y'all, in korea, there are clubs and bars that deadass says, "no foreigners allowed", there are a lot of restaurants, clothing stores, etc that wouldn't even let black people in. Korea has SOME good people, but if you really wanna go to a country that doesn't discriminate, go to Thailand. Alot of people their are very nice and you can make friends there easily. I crossed that country off my bucket list long time ago.
번역을 못해서 미안해!~ TT
Yeah the translations are probably trash but I did my best!
When I went to Japan I got a lot of compliments on my hair or my nails but the stares from the old people were COMICAL 😂
Yeah, when the old people were younger, during the 1900's, they weren't used to seeing black people at that time.
Girllll your so pretty 😭 I can tell just by looking at your pfp!!
I wanna learn korean and hopefully go there when I’m older, as a black girl I’ve been worried about what people think of me 😂😔

To be honest I think it depends on your level of attractivness. Not saying that this youtuber is ugly but if you are very pretty and black they will stare
