For anyone who hasn't played the original games I just want to say: this is Kratos being nice and calm - more than he's ever been 😆 I was SHOCKED when he gave the Stranger another warning after being hit in the face.
When he scolds Atreus for impulsively firing at the deer, I tell people, "You think he's being harsh?! In the previous games, he wiped out entire settlements over less."
People going into GOW 2018 without playing the originals "Kratos is so intense" people going into GOW 2018 who played the originals "Kratos is such a big cuddly bear in this one" 😂
@odious5317 I still think its a good starting point for new players though. If they really like it then they can always play go back and play them kinda like a prequel
Great video! Look forward to watching more! In case you haven't learned already 51:00 trying to 'find' Baldur as he moves around. Pushing R3 will lock onto an enemy so you're always facing them.
Coming from someone who has played the entire GOW franchise (all 8 games) multiple times, I enjoyed this gameplay so much and you've earned yourself a new sub! Keep these vids coming!. I love it! ❤
Tip. When an enemy swings, just block. Dodging is cool, but block is just block quickly. Also break everything. Breaking buckets "vases and anything just break it. If you see letters to open a chest just swing and break it. Just finished watching. You're so damn fun and awesome. I can wait for episode 2. 😃👍
39:27 Heh Og god of war players would be stunned at the level of restraint Kratos had here. Man its so cool to see new players are still getting into this series regardless of the order you play.
I see this playthrough will be a gem among all those GoW playthroughs out there. I'm excited for this journey :D And IF interested a tiny but important hint to ease combat a bit: ------------------------------------- You can lock on to enemies, so you won't lose sight to them while dodging around. Just press the right joystick to turn it on and off. It's easy to miss the hint for that, the game mentions it once for a few seconds and thats it.
I picked this up during the last Steam sale but have yet to install it....I'm really tempted to, but I already have too many games installed/am concurrently playing too many of them.
This game saved Kratos as a character for me. I was done with the franchise after GoW3 for reasons I won't disclose but GoW (2018) and Ragnarok made me love him.
1:34:58 . I felt so sorry for "Atreus. His first human kill as a child. No child should have to murder someone. I can't even begin to imagine how was feeling 😢
Hey I discovered your channel a few days ago because of the ending of Rebirth (I just wanted to see it over and over again) Glad to see you stream this incredible game ! You’ll love it ! Quick tip : use R3 to lock on ennemies, that will make your combats so much easier 😊
My pleasure! I just couldn't stand seeing you struggle with the camera😂 Thank YOU for all the emotions you gave me during your let's play on Rebirth! I’m still processing all that 😅 Enjoy GoW now 💪🏼
Looking forward to this and Ragnarok, If you're going to continue with stepping out of your comfort zone, you'd probably love the Yakuza series (starting with Yakuza 0.) I played Yakuza 7 a little bit after beating Rebirth and it completely threw me off finishing my backlog. I planned on playing FFVI for the first time but instead I'm going through each game in the Yakuza series chronologically for the first time.
I've played them all. Part 3 and 2 are my favorites. I love this game I'm o.g. badass player when I play these and the "Uncharted Franchise. All I can say is explore and be aggressive and most of all just enjoy yourself and have fun. Can't wait to experience this with you. 💐👏
It's better to block than to dodge/roll. Almost all of the enemy attacks can be blocked especially those projectiles. Even the revenant's poison can be blocked.
I'm just about to finish GOW ragnarok and you drop this? get out of my computer! 🤣 anyway, I was wondering what to watch after finishing rebirth videos. Guess the problem is solved!
In case you want to know about the older God of War games, you can read below. ↓↓ Long story short: After the old god of war Ares trick Kratos into killing his own family cause the gods fear him, Kratos gains power to kill each of them in return, including his backstabbing father Zeus, and Athena an ally who resented him later. Long story: Kratos, a well-known Spartan general from the Greek pantheon, became feared by the gods as he carried a legacy so powerful he could end their reign. So they ended up using Kratos to their advantage. To spare his life in a near death battle, Ares the old god of war made Kratos' Blades of Chaos to forge a deal, Kratos' life for his servitude. But to have nothing stand in his way, Ares tricked Kratos into killing his family during a bloodthirsty rampage Ares had put on Kratos, so Kratos vows revenge against Ares and sought to kill him using Pandora's box power. (God of War 1) And since the gods still disregard him and toss him aside, Kratos regains himself with the help of the gods enemies the Titans to kill Zeus. But he accidentally killed ally turned protective goddess Athena, and after being backstabbed by his father Zeus the king of the gods using the Blade of Olympus, he turns the tide and wages war against the Olympian gods. (God of War 2) Kratos destroys the entire Greek pantheon in the process and kills all the gods and titans there that stood in his way, including Zeus as his finale. Athena in spirit-risen form then resented him for sacrificing himself his god-killing powers 'Hope' to humanity. (God of War 3)
I think you are gonna love it. It's not as different as a FF16 I would say. One of my favorite games (after Remake and Bloodborne) of PS4, and I just played GoW1 and half of GoW3 I think.
I don't think I've come across anyone else who didn't instinctually try to break/destroy the glowing runes at the first sealed chest before even activating the chest itself.
You made a good choice keeping it on balanced. I think playing any game on normal is all that is needed. There's no reason for anyone to play on any other level above normal unless they just want too. 👍
I would suggest looking into the backstory of his Greek saga so you have some kind of clue when he refers to his past. He was a maniac lol. It will help you better appreciate his character development
Remember SEARCH look around and destroy everything nornir chests give you upgrades for health and rage when you destroy the seals remember be adventurous there’s a lot of stuff that’ll help you on your journey!
I hate watching first episode of playthrough for gow just because so many people skip the locked nornir chests. So yeah maybe you know by now but just hit the matching runes nearby to unlock them.
It's honestly not all that different from what you've been playing. The combat is pretty easy to get into, the story and characters are interesting, there's a crafting and upgrade system etc. Only thing you'll have to get really used to is all of the specials being on a cool down as opposed to using magic.
Technically it began in God of War Ascension, it's the first game chronologically in the story. Just saying 😂. There's actually a comic that goes back even further. Whether it's the new games or the old games, I always love seeing new people play my favorite franchise.
1 Gauge I use to know if I playthrough will be good is skipping to the first troll fight... 90% of "lets players" stand back and turn that fight into an axe throwing massacre. Which is SOO painful to watch. You did not, and did the fight properly. Well done 👏
hmm imo its better to let her experience/learn the greek sage game lore by herself either by playing or watching or reading the lore herself. Unless she asked us for it, then imo its not good to spoil her about it. I think its best to comment like this after she finish the GOW 2018 story 🤔
For anyone who hasn't played the original games I just want to say: this is Kratos being nice and calm - more than he's ever been 😆

@juako3191 the collateral damage would stretch for leagues in any direction...
gow ragnarok is pure scum
He seems like a calm and reasonable person
Boat Captain said hi....
People going into GOW 2018 without playing the originals "Kratos is so intense" people going into GOW 2018 who played the originals "Kratos is such a big cuddly bear in this one" 😂
Facts in the og as soon as you hit start, you already murdered like 20 people 😂
Agreed!!!
Yeah. I get why people want to jump in to this game before playing the others, but it’s a shame new players not knowing the backstory to 2018.
@odious5317 I still think its a good starting point for new players though. If they really like it then they can always play go back and play them kinda like a prequel
Who cares not everyone needs to experience the old ones before playing this game.
I never get tired of seeing new people playing this game
IKR? I’ve lost count of how many tubers I’ve watched play through it!
@@davythedragon When a game is so good you always want to watch it, especially to see people's reactions.
@@juan2016pablo exactly! Especially at the main plot points, and the start of ragnarok....you know what I'm talking about! Lol
After hearing all about the series I didn't expect to be in tears after the first ten minutes on first playthrough
1:38:45 same! We all want to give Atreus a big hug, and a big part of the game's story is Kratos learning to be a good dad
Great video! Look forward to watching more! In case you haven't learned already 51:00 trying to 'find' Baldur as he moves around. Pushing R3 will lock onto an enemy so you're always facing them.
Mandy, I've been following you for a while now. Always great content you put out. But I'm so glad you're doing this. Thank you.
Coming from someone who has played the entire GOW franchise (all 8 games) multiple times, I enjoyed this gameplay so much and you've earned yourself a new sub!
Keep these vids coming!.
I love it! ❤
wooooooooooooooo dad of boy! let's get into all that norse mythology and stuff
Thanks!
Thank you Rop!!!
The Nornir chests with the blue runes on them, you just smash the corresponding seal with your axe or fists, as these have upgrades in them
Just finished the video! So good! The start of another great series Mandy!🎉
Oh boy you're in for a journey . Keep tissues ready cause this will be one heck of a journey . Trust me !!!
Wait till Ragnarock
wow! love the game. Can't wait for the following episodes

Amazing game, am going to love watching you play it!!

thank you for doing the research before playing, love this game so so much, played it 4 times and watched about 15 people play it through.
1:19:20 almost confused me. I played using the o.g. controls on PS5. I always mash square to punch 😂.
What a pleasant surprise! And the boy's name is, "Boy!" Lol.
LOL fair

Just got done watching you play Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, can't wait to watch you play through this!
I just binged all of tour final fantasy 13 and 13-2. Looked at your recent vids and i see this! Yes plz
One of the best games I've played. Great video, and I hope you enjoy the journey!

This is very exciting! I’ve heard many things about this Game, your going to love it! 🤗

It's kind of strange that he can apparently lift an entire tree effortlessly but struggles a bit with the coffin lids.
I'd definitely enjoy seeing you play more of this!
Also, the FF16 DLCs, but God of War is awesome!
1:43:10, "Ax-cellent!"
Very excited to watch you play this. I think you’re going to love it.have fun 💪🏻
GOW series has some of the best and most satisfying boss fights

Been waiting on you to play this game ..really liked The video
28:03. Good fighting "Mandy you're doing great 👍
This is a very different Kratos from the earlier games....that Kratos was pretty much just pure anger and bloodlust.
It's better to block than to dodge/roll. Almost all of the enemy attacks can be blocked especially those projectiles. Even the revenant's poison can be blocked.
The original god of war games are awesome as well but this new era is probably more your style! Im sure u are going to enjoy it!

You made a good choice keeping it on balanced. I think playing any game on normal is all that is needed. There's no reason for anyone to play on any other level above normal unless they just want too. 👍
Playing or watching the recap of younger Kratos' journey in Athena (GOW 1, 2, 3, Chain of Olympics and Ghost of Sparta) for more feeling to Kratos
5:01 . Kratos: Boy 😂 . Classic 👏 . On 'PS5 you can boost it to 60fps. Unless you already know,just saying 🤗👍
I suggest that before continuing with the game you see Kratos' story as a character to understand how deep his behavior can be.
I would suggest looking into the backstory of his Greek saga so you have some kind of clue when he refers to his past. He was a maniac lol. It will help you better appreciate his character development
I truly believe this is the best game of all time.

Perry Enemies
I see that you are a final fantasy gal mind giving persona a shot when ur done with God of war
