I remember when I first played this game. Rented it out from the video store with a friend. We were like "we have a little bit of time to kill, how about we check out the beginning. I heard it's quite a opening, should be fun!". 20 minutes later, two grown men on the couch, in the verge of tears. "I wasn't expecting THAT!".
Definitely one of the more shocking and heartbreaking openings. And great job to Hannah and Troy for making us care enough about Joel and Sarah with only 20 minutes of gameplay

This is the most impressive intro to a game i have ever seen or played. In 15 minutes they make you love the Sara character and then they rip her away from us, leaving even a full grown 48 year old man like me get teary eyed. So amazingly done by Naughty Dog even though its f´ed up how the intro ends. Absolutely love these games. Look forward to watching you play them :)
Be sure not to miss out on optional dialogue prompts! They only appear for a short period so if you see them, prioritize them, exploring can always wait!
Just some tips/tricks to help you in your playthrough: - There are a number of hidden conversations in the game (in Boston before the truck blows up, when sneaking past the soldiers with Tess/Marlene, etc.) when it's quiet, pause and give those with you a chance to walk around and look for the triangle prompt. Aside from an achievement for listening to them all, they flesh out the characters and include some of the best moments (Ellie puns FTW!) - If you want to succeed at stealth, use listen mode! - Throwing rocks/bottles can lure an enemy but alerts others that something is going on, be strategic in when/how to use - Keep an eye of for doors that can only be opened with a shiv, tons of loot behind each - Clickers can only be stealth killed with a shiv and they can't be melee killed with your fists (only with pipes/2x4's)
A note about the closing scene of the prologue (in case you didn't know already). When they initially shot the scene, they had spent six hours that day going through take after take. Troy and Jeffrey were exhausted, and poor Hana (who was only 12 years old at the time) was in a constant fountain of tears. But then two weeks later, Neil Druckmann called them back up and said "We need to reshoot the scene.". At that point they could've just simply thrown in the towel, but they didn't. And the end product is perhaps one of the most heart wrenching cutscenes in gaming history.
Naughty Dog might be one of the most versatile studios out there: they went from cartoonish, kid-friendly products like the 'Crash Bandicoot' and 'Jak & Daxter' games, to the slightly more mature, action-adventure romps that are the 'Uncharted' games, to the the straight up depressing 'The Last of Us' games.
Don't apologise about the episode being this long... actually that's even better and I can notice that you got really into the game!. Waiting for the next part impatiently already! 😁

So glad to see you playing this! I loved your RE7 and RE8 playthroughs. I'm not sure if anyone else told you but you were right. The reason you couldn't pick up the candy bars is that your health was already full from when you used the medkit. The candy bars and other food items can't be carried with you because they're basically just little health boosts. You use them when you find them to avoid using a medkit for minor injuries.
@@Hydra360ci its cordyceps and this isn't the same virus as that one because Las plagas hosts are clearly still conscious more then cordyceps hosts but the game was inspired by re4 though
Looking forward to more! I'm so used to the original version's faces that the new faces in this remade version throw me off, haha. R1 to shoot was also a weird choice for default controls in the original... Edit: also, at 23:17, it wasn't just "people power-tripping"; if you had stayed there for just a few more seconds, you would have seen those people who were being led out had snuck outside and gotten infected, and could have gotten everyone in the whole neighborhood killed if they had turned without being scanned. The soldiers scan those people and then shoot the infected person, which is why Joel and Tess immediately talked about more and more people sneaking out/getting infected.
I like the fact that Joel doesn't repair his watch and continues to wear it says that how he's still stuck and dead at the exact time his daughter died
I’m so ready for you to experience these two masterpieces! Especially Part 2 after playing this one and having the emotional connection to the characters and story that you didn’t have before. These are my two favorite games of all time and tonight Hbo Max TLOU premier🔥 This game has the best opening in my opinion, it’s incredible how quickly they make you invested in Joel and Sarah, how fast paced it is, it’s just perfect storytelling. 11:00 The neighbor he just shot “Jimmy I am warning you!” That’s why Sarah mentioned him because Tommy said that the people from the city was getting sick and Sarah said “Jimmy work on the city right?” Insinuating that they could be sick too. 34:30 I know at this point you don’t have a lot of knowledge about the infection but they are not zombies, they are infected, you’ll get more about them if you find notes, voice recorder and all of that. I just wanted to make that clear because people always tend to call them zombies and they are not. These infected have more depth that your typical zombies in most apocalyptic worlds.

I’m not surprised, a lot of people call them zombies even after playing both games but they are not, zombies are undead and these infected are more complex than regular zombies and that’s what makes them fascinating. Like them having different stages of infection, you’ll find more information about them the more you find the notes and all of that. 1:50:55 Not true tho…😂 You can definitely do that part in stealth, it’s hard when it’s your first time but you can. Tips for stealth with the infected: 1- Take the runners first (the ones that looks more human and the earliest stage of infection) that way you can use a brick or bottle and throw it to a clicker, run to them and and kill it by punching them or with a combat weapon. And you don’t always need to kill every enemy, you can sometimes take the runners and leave the clickers. 2-Be patients. Sometimes staying behind cover and learning their path is very helpful.
Really excited to watch your first playthrough of this every step of the way. Had no idea you had not played this. Excited for a Skytea run. I clicked right away when I saw the title! Funnily enough, you mention multiplayer. The Last of Us 1 has pretty good multiplayer and a lot of people love it and still play it.
You asked about the Fireflies. There's some info in the opening credits (after Sarah dies). You've seen what FEDRA are. Authoritarian, oppressive, basically running quarantine zones like prisons. Stealth "kill" means just that and yes, you break their necks. It is better to try and save ammo, as some encounters cannot be beaten with stealth. Use listen mode. Throwing bottles/bricks will usually alert multiple enemies. Slow down. Yeah, I wouldn't go too crazy with brightness, it washes out the colour in well lit areas. As you said, there's a torch for dark places. I feel privileged to have played both these blind, on release (before dissection). We need more "mature" games that are actually for a mature audience. Hope you also enjoy these :)
Remember R1 for your enhanced hearing that allows you to see through solid objects, enemies have the same movement patterns which can help save ammo by stealthing

The TLOU series is my favorite game series of all time so you could say I’m a little excited to watch you play it lol. I love Part 1 but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t looking forward to your reaction to Part 2 the most. Part 2 is the most emotional and mentally draining game I’ve played but that’s what makes it my favorite game of all time. It made me feel a way no game has ever made me feel before. It made me feel every emotion all at once. It made want to stop playing but as soon as I put the controller down, I just had to pick it up again. In my own opinion and experience, it’s a masterpiece. Both games are. They have one of the best stories in all of media, in my opinion ofc.

The first time I played the game the opening scene is sad but I wasn’t crying now anytime I’ve rewatched it I can’t help but cry I’m not sure how I had the strength to get through that first time tearless but I can no longer pull that off

You might've figured this out later in the episode but just in case you haven't, at 39:20 you couldn't pick up the chocolate bar because your health was full. There are two types of healing items in this game. 1. The medkits, which you can hold 3 of and use at any time. 2. The food items (chocolate bars/cans of food) which you cannot hold and can only be consumed if your health isn't full Edit: you did indeed figure it out later in the episode lmao.
One of the absolute best games and video game experiences I have ever played and had. The sequel is just as good. The rollercoaster of emotions with this series is amazing.

43:05 how would the world look 20 years after an apocalypse? Depends on the kind of apocalypse. Disease? Likely yes. Meteor? Not a chance. Nuclear war? Maybe, but also maybe the plants would walk around instead of people.
I'd say part 2 is more intense but part 1 has the better story. I was screaming at you to use your senses more to know where enemies are lol. Also u missed the part where it told u to to use shivs to open some doors that are locked. Bottles and bricks I found to be very useful, not just for distractions but to stun enemies and attack them, and also making the most of your melee weapons to conserve ammo because ya it's pretty scarce. Great playthrough though, looking forward to the next video!
There were a lot of cinematic games released up until The Last of Us first came out, but this game took it to a whole new level in the best way. It's like it was originally made to be a TV drama, but then turned into a video game; not the other way around.
It's amazing to see you play this game. I'm sure you'll get tons of advice on how to play, but I'll give you a little bit more 😊 Try surching as thoroughly as possible things are small and easy to miss in this game. Also, melee attack as much as you can, It saves a lot more ammo, which you will find less of in later stages justdon't melee clickers🤣. Also, the granola bars aren't something you can carry there eaten on the spot for health. Finally, try finding as many supplies and tools to upgrade your weapons as possible it makes the game much easier. And again, it's great to see you play this. Also 🤣 don't waste your shifs
If you stop and watch the people lined up in the street they are tested for infection with a scanner and one is infected and shot. It's a good storytelling thing but its easy to miss because it's not required to stop.
After hearing your intro about not being attached to Part 2 having played it first. I was worried but it makes sense, since you didn't have all the stuff in Part 1 to get attached to. Hopefully you experience Part 2 after you're finished with Part 1 and see it in a different light. Best games ever made imo.
Hell yeah The Last of Us!!! Let’s gooooo. It’s probably a good thing that you never played it cause now with the series coming out folks will be looking for let’s plays to watch. So this is great timing. Jimmy was the dude Joel shot at the beginning of the game the one who crashed through the window. Motion blur def keep off but I would turn film grain back on, It works for this game. So the food items in the world are just consumables I.e you can’t keep ‘em like a med kit.
It is somewhat accurate that nature would reclaim a city if left untouched, whether it would happen to that extend in 20 years is debately I suppose, but there are loads of abandoned places in real life that has been overgrown with no humans to keep nature down.

Losing Sarah is one of the saddest moments in video game history, especially at the very beginning of the game
15 minutes into the story and you can easily understand how much of an impact it had on the gaming world as a whole.
It's amazing the fact that this game is about to be 10 years old. It was really ahead of it's time.
It’s the remake tho, this game released in 2022 as a Brand new full priced game.

I didn’t even realize I was watching this when it was uploaded 4 minutes ago till now seeing how recent the comments where I was looking for a playtrough to watch before the new ep for the last of us airs today glad I found this
The TLOU series is my favorite game series of all time so you could say I’m a little excited to watch you play it lol. I love Part 1 but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t looking forward to your reaction to Part 2 the most. Part 2 is the most emotional and mentally draining game I’ve played but that’s what makes it my favorite game of all time. It made me feel a way no game has ever made me feel before. It made me feel every emotion all at once. It made want to stop playing but as soon as I put the controller down, I just had to pick it up again. In my own opinion and experience, it’s a masterpiece. Both games are. They have one of the best stories in all of media, in my opinion ofc.

I had the same reaction to the time jump. 20 years is a hell of a long time. Would have loved to see it. Things escelating as time passes and so on.

Girl if you really want to be good at stealth you have to use your hearing mode so you know where the enemies are lol! You out here winging it praying they don't see you & in this game, they will always see you girl lol! Imma have fun watching you play this game for sure. :)

The first time I played the game the opening scene is sad but I wasn’t crying now anytime I’ve rewatched it I can’t help but cry I’m not sure how I had the strength to get through that first time tearless but I can no longer pull that off

You might've figured this out later in the episode but just in case you haven't, at 39:20 you couldn't pick up the chocolate bar because your health was full. There are two types of healing items in this game.
1. The medkits, which you can hold 3 of and use at any time.
2. The food items (chocolate bars/cans of food) which you cannot hold and can only be consumed if your health isn't full

I'd say part 2 is more intense but part 1 has the better story. I was screaming at you to use your senses more to know where enemies are lol. Also u missed the part where it told u to to use shivs to open some doors that are locked. Bottles and bricks I found to be very useful, not just for distractions but to stun enemies and attack them, and also making the most of your melee weapons to conserve ammo because ya it's pretty scarce. Great playthrough though, looking forward to the next video!

There were a lot of cinematic games released up until The Last of Us first came out, but this game took it to a whole new level in the best way. It's like it was originally made to be a TV drama, but then turned into a video game; not the other way around.
It's amazing to see you play this game. I'm sure you'll get tons of advice on how to play, but I'll give you a little bit more 😊 Try surching as thoroughly as possible things are small and easy to miss in this game. Also, melee attack as much as you can, It saves a lot more ammo, which you will find less of in later stages justdon't melee clickers🤣. Also, the granola bars aren't something you can carry there eaten on the spot for health. Finally, try finding as many supplies and tools to upgrade your weapons as possible it makes the game much easier. And again, it's great to see you play this.

If you stop and watch the people lined up in the street they are tested for infection with a scanner and one is infected and shot. It's a good storytelling thing but its easy to miss because it's not required to stop.
That opening segment hits differently. Fully invests you in the story and characters.
After hearing your intro about not being attached to Part 2 having played it first. I was worried but it makes sense, since you didn't have all the stuff in Part 1 to get attached to. Hopefully you experience Part 2 after you're finished with Part 1 and see it in a different light.

Hell yeah The Last of Us!!! Let’s gooooo. It’s probably a good thing that you never played it cause now with the series coming out folks will be looking for let’s plays to watch. So this is great timing. Jimmy was the dude Joel shot at the beginning of the game the one who crashed through the window. Motion blur def keep off but I would turn film grain back on, It works for this game. So the food items in the world are just consumables I.e you can’t keep ‘em like a med kit.
It is somewhat accurate that nature would reclaim a city if left untouched, whether it would happen to that extend in 20 years is debately I suppose, but there are loads of abandoned places in real life that has been overgrown with no humans to keep nature down.
God of War and The Last of Us will forever be my favorite games of ALL time
