okay so this whole thing is a bit confusing because it’s under like 2 layers of headcanon but! here’s some sort of explanation
first of all, i should note that asriel and ralsei are not the same person. this isn’t really about ralsei anyways. dess and asriel are dating also because i think it’s cute. they’re probably both bi thats the vibes they give off. anyways i think dess is the kind of person who would do all kinds of questionable or dangerous things. monster in the woods? she’d want to see it for herself.
so the main premise of this is that dess finds an old book in the library about dark worlds and is like woah sick! i’m going to find out if this is real! and drags asriel along with her. she goes to the bunker because yknow, spooky, and does the stuff it talks about and boom! fountain! asriel was a little wary of this to begin with so he kinda freaks out and just. books it. of course he beats himself up for doing this cause uh, dess was still in there, but whatever it’s fine he goes to get help.
...but kris had followed them out there, and wanted to see what was going on. they go in and. well. :-)

and before anyone asks, dess not having antlers in the first half was completely intentional. both male and female reindeer have antlers irl, and they both shed them at different times usually. to put it simply dess is trans so terfs gtfo. noelle too but i couldn’t really show it here cause she’s baby
