My theory as to why Gojira initially zeroed in on Japan in 1954 was that he sensed the residual radiation in from the 1945 bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Could be, but why head to Tokyo instead of either or those locations? Or any atomic test site in the Pacific?

I think it’s territorial. But in the first movie didn’t Godzilla follow the navy back to Tokyo? They send ships to kill him. He followed them back.
Another theory is the city lights attracted him. Tokyo is the biggest city in Japan.

As a HUGE lifelong Godzilla fan, here are the answers to some of these questions:
6:50 So, when working on the original film back in 1954, the filmmakers based his design off of a T-Rex and an Iguanadon with plates like a stegosaurus.
10:10 In the original Japanese film from 1954 Godzilla was said to be 50 meters tall (or about 165 feet tall) this was because, at the time, that was bigger than any building in Japan so to the Japanese in the 1950s that was huge. But in the American version, Godzilla King Of The Monsters! from 1956 with Raymond Burr, they said that he was over 400 feet tall. This is because in America, where there are giant skyscrapers, Godzilla would’ve sounded much smaller to an American audience (comparatively).
11:28 Actually, the real reason why he attacks cities is not because he’s hungry but because he’s angry at mankind for reawakening and scaring him with their reckless use of nuclear weapons.
13:50 Yeah, but he didn’t give birth to Minilla. As we see in Son Of Godzilla (1967) the egg was already on the island and was mutated due to a weather experiment and hatched as a mini Godzilla (or Minilla). Minilla didn’t come out of Godzilla’s body. Also, he is the KING of the monsters.
    21:06 He’s not a lizard he’s a dinosaur.
24:30 Also, Godzilla was originally created to reenact the firebombings and the nuclear attacks on Japan during and after WW2. But within the context of the original film, Godzilla was reawoken and scarred by mankind’s careless use of nuclear weapons and so he lashes out at mankind in anger. And keep in mind that he is just an animal that lived 2 million years ago before continents existed and so he likely wouldn’t have any concept of different races or types or groups of humans. All he would know is that mankind is responsible for reawakening and scaring him so he lashes out at mankind in general which just so happens to be Japan.

About MINUS 1: It’s subtle, but definitely implied, that this version of Gojira is malicious. He ENJOYS the destruction, even if he isn’t fully aware of its implications. Indeed, after their first encounter, he seems to pursue the protagonist outright, at least in a couple of encounters.

One thing I always liked to headcanon is that Godzooky is sort of a Varan like creature in that continuity. What led me to think that, oddly enough, was Destroy All Monsters. There's alot of conjecture about Varan's brief appearance in that movie. Apparently the prop for Varan noticeably smaller than alot of the other monsters. Depending on who you ask that is either just due to the long shots they have of him in the distance or he's actually supposed to be a much smaller creature than the previous Varan.

I'd say he's male depending on what version you look at. Because speaking on the whole "Godzilla having a kid", he never had a kid in the Heisei era the way a female would. Nor in the Showa era. It never explains in the Showa era how Minya came about IIRC. And in the Heisei era, he just adopted a kid.
Godzilla in the 1998 version can however be seen as female. But in most versions I've seen, less likely, especially because you never see him with a kid that he had confirmed to be his biological son. Plus, you should look at the Japanese version of Godzilla's Revenge, and see how Minya refers to him. If he calls Godzilla father, probably male, and adopted Minya. Like, if he uses the Japanese word for father.
    So...
1st Godzilla: Could more than likely be female. Maybe she had Minya/Minnila, then the second Godzilla, who was male, adopted it.
    1998: Likely female
The rest: Probably not when you see the way they treat him.

Why does Godzilla hate Tokyo so much? Well, if going off All Out Attack's interpretation, I'd say he's/it's protesting against Japan's war crimes they committed in WWII, and never admitted to/apologised for. If that version's the souls of all those who died in WWII, I like to believe it's all those Japan wronged coming back to haunt them. He chooses Tokyo, because it's the best place to make a scene.

The finale of the showa era is destroy all monsters. It’s set in 1999 after terror of mechagodzilla.
The godzillasaurus wasn’t alone in 91. There was more than one. That’s why there’s the 54 attack and the heisei Godzilla. Also it was already mutated when the cast decides to send a nuclear submarine to mutate it. That’s why it catches them off guard and absorbs the radiation by destroying the sub.
Godzilla jr. Might eat whales i think in ghidorah the three headed monster he was chasing whales in the Japanese version. But he also feeds on radiation. Godzilla jr. Was not a Godzillasaurus in 95. He started getting irradiated by 94.
You forgot Godzilla filius, the “jr” of the reiwa era.
Shin Godzilla is an animal in pain. Listen to the soundtrack when he fires his beam.
Godzilla uses his feet, tail, swim bladder, and buoyancy to “stand” in the middle of the ocean.

These are some interesting questions and answers. Most of them I knew because I've been watching Godzilla since the 1970s. As far as how Godzilla is able to stand up in water especially if he's in the middle of the ocean I just naturally took it he was floating I mean most humans can float keyword there's mosts. The reason I say most people is there some people who cannot float do to the reason they can't relax. As far as God Suzuki or Manila or whatever you want to call him I quit trying to figure out where he came from or how he was developed a long time ago I just went with the theory okay somewhere somehow this creature was born by an egg that was laid sometime in the past.

Angela is post-op after the 1st movie, but Goji is hermaphroditic from what I can tell because there's never a boy/girl Goji.

    • @TheLokiBiz
      @TheLokiBiz 3 місяці тому

@@greenkoopa Well my comment was mostly just me joking around... Anyhow, Angela being post-op doesnt make her any less trans - If anything I always thought it was kinda cool how they only mention it breifly at the start of part 2 and 3, but the rest of the movie they use her appropriate pronouns etc. -- They're weirdly accepting of her reassignment for a couple 80s slasher movies lol.
As for Godzilla, well did you watch the video? He talks at length about Godzila's gender - and says that he usually gets called he/him pronouns. And for the record, there actually are a fair number of eople who identify as non-binary but are still fine with the more traditional, gendered pronouns. Myself, included for instance - I'm at least a bit gender-fluid, but I really am indifferent what pronouns people use for me (so long as they're not obviously *trying* to be a dick)

I think we even see Rodan eating some fish. That doesn't prove that Godzilla eats anything, but it does fit with the suggestion in the 1954 film that he (like the other kaiju) is carnivorous.

While the continuity is broken, the Millenium era is all one saga. Final Wars seems fully out of place but its staed its more of a future movie with the prologue where Godzilla is trapped in ice takes place right after the movie before Final Wars but then skips ahead as the narrator monologues about the aliens coming and sharing their dna to create the human mutant army and limited tech from the aliens otherwise the mind control might have actually been found out about way earlier and stopped before they had to fight each other.

Just as you pointed out all the various origins of the character, you also can have just as many or no logical origins. It’s a fictional character designed to make money for the movie makers that use this character. That is the one guaranteed origin of Godzilla. Everything else is guesswork, silliness and nonsense.

So like, I CAN'T listen to you talk about Godzilla because when you made your continuity video you said "the first movie doesn't give a date" when the exact time and date of the sinking of the Eiko-Maru is LITERALLY THE FIRST LINE OF SPOKEN DIALOGUE IN THE FILM. I actually sincerely love this channel, when it comes to horror movies I trust you to know what you're talking about, and I've binged so much of your stuff, it's really great, but as the keeper of the scrolls as far as Godzilla is concerned - and please understand that I don't mean this as a putdown because I don't think it in any way is a reflection of your character - you have literally no fucking idea what the hell you're talking about when you bring up Godzilla. Like it's like watching a flat earther trying to explain gravity, it hurts my ears, brain, and heart how absolutely clueless and donkey brained you get when talking about my monster like that. Like seriously, you don't know what you're talking about, please stop.
But I was actually looking for something Godzilla related to make a quick video about I could write and record fairly quickly, and this just landed in my lap exactly when I needed it to, so since I know from my previous experience trying to watch you talk about Godzilla that all of these "unanswered" questions will actually have definitive answers that you just don't know, I'm just going to answer them for you. Not here, not in this comment, I'm trying to take steps to break bad habits and that includes leaving essay length comments correcting things people get wrong about Godzilla movies. Instead I'm going to channel this into something more creative and make one of those old fashioned "video responses" like youtube used to do.
Again, I actually adore this channel and I'm a big fan of your horror continuity and unanswered questions videos, I think you're a cool dude and I've gotten a lot of entertainment value out of this channel. It's that Godzilla is my whole personality, and while I was skimming through this Godzilla video to write down your questions, I kept seeing clips of the original Zilla movie... which Godzilla isn't in... and I just... like I just can't with this shit, man. Like when it comes to Friday or Nightmare I'll defer to you, but when it's Godzilla you just look like a clown, idunno what else to tell you.
Anwyas I'll edit this comment later when I'm done with the video.

i’m not sure what you mean. the literal first line of dialogue is people on the boat reacting to their ship sinking, and then it’s Ogata getting a phone call. there is the scene where they talk about the boat, and they say august 13th, but no year is given, and no day of the week to reflect what year that day would be set, so it doesn’t help with the timeline.
also, you may say that the Zilla film doesn’t feature Godzilla, but it does, or at least an out of continuity version of him. he may not be loved, but he’s an alternate version of the character and is distinct from the version that appears in Final Wars. they are clearly two different characters, as continuity wise, Final Wars takes place in a universe in which monsters have been around and existed for decades, whereas the ‘98 Godzilla film is in a universe where it is the only kaiju.
and these are not “unanswered questions with definitive answers that i just don’t know.” as a lifelong Godzilla fan, i know quite a bit about all of this stuff. the purpose of the UQ videos is to take questions that exist online that fans have from watching the movies, and present the answers that exist outside of the films.
I’m sorry that you think i look like a “clown” when i talk about Godzilla, but i take offense to that as I’ve been watching these films my whole life. i saw Godzilla ‘85 in the theater. these videos are made for the casual fans to answer their questions that they may have. I’m sorry that you didn’t get enjoyment out of this one, but that’s no reason to resort to cheap insults.

It would appear that you are keeping faulty Godzilla scrolls. Might want to look into that.

26:10 to my opinion, it shows that nuke or nuclear bomb drop on Japan in the era of ww2 was devastating and it shows that Godzilla or Nuclear Weapon is treat to us ourself human that is the original and minus one Godzilla is saying like we as human are treat to our self not other animals
