@@jamesbova3134 That's interesting James, my Mom was a huge fan of Elvis too. btw Elvis was also a big civil rights advocate. I will say that I believe Elvis, Sammy, Frank and Dean were some of the best entertainers that ever graced the stage.
Even Elvis was aware of Sammy's special talents. He once called Sammy the finest entertainer around. For his size and stature he could belt out the tunes with the best of them. Sing, dance, act, perform, and was the fastest quick draw pistol packer in Hollywood. Oh, and all with one eye by the by!
I still remember him on someone’s show laughing and saying he was sure he was the only one eyed Jewish black man in America! He became a Jew for his wife who was Jewish.
Started out in life as a 5 year old in vaudeville. Performed through Racism and Jim Crow Laws. All that America could throw at him and he kept going. This man was way past a class act. He did what all the white acts was doing with twice the talent half the respect and done it with a smile. Do you know what kind of spirit you needed to have in those days?! Unshakable! Rock Solid! This man was truly great! Miss you Mr. Davis!
Matt Fusello Are you not entertained? I know I am. Sammy doesn't have the luxury of an IEM and so can't hear himself. I suspect that because it's being broadcast live on tv, he doesn't even have a stage monitor to hear himself and the band. Sammy is a goddamned legend!
A great humble human being, just such an awesome entertainer, that you he loved his audience and they gave that love back! Never another one like that! Sammy Davis, Jr!
Happy Happy 94th Birthday! You are so missed! What a wonderful entertainer you were! We don't have entertainers anymore. You could do it all and you appreciated your audience!!!! God Bless You Sam!!!!
those were 'days' er 'nights' ! - No phones ringin or buzzin like you would get if he was performing nowadays - or even people watching him through their phones !!! - thanks for sharing
Sammy Davis Jr was a major talent, He could sing, dance, act and run rings around his contemporaries. Unfortunately when he died, he was in debt even though he worked 52 weeks in a year. His business manager stole most of his money. His wife,Altovese had to work tirelessly after his death to pay off his debts. Now that' s love!! And he deserved it, too!!!
Kim Alonzo people got to stop believing crap like this. A lot of musicians insist on being paid in cash which makes it easier to hide from the thieving tax man. A lot of stars cry broke just to keep up the charades. Sammy probably had a million dollars in pinky rings alone, let alone all the other fingers. Don't even ask about necklaces. Chuck Berry was notorious for demanding cash wherever he played. He would roll in, play the gig, collect his cash and roll right on out to the next city.
Okay, so he never had the sly easy swing of Dino and Frank that seemed to appeal to so many, but as pointed out below, his personal and professional story is so much more intriguing. 2oth century civil rights in miniature (literally!). Unconventional in looks, size and faith (his conversion to Judaism) and full to the brim with that other, more profound, kind of swing: SOUL!
Tihvit, I HOPE we haven't set the bar so low that we settle for classless, talentless cretins to entertain us rather than people with REAL talent & presence. Franky, Deano, Sammy & the rest of the pack never forgot it was THEIR fans who made them who they were.

I met Sammy at a grocery store where I worked. He came there to promote his BBQ sauce. He was very nice to us all. It was a thrill I'll never forget!
R.I.P Robert BARETTA Blake..and Sammy Davies JR

Mr Sammy Davis Jr is a true national treasure. There will never be another like him. Pure talent!
Even Elvis was aware of Sammy's special talents. He once called Sammy the finest entertainer around. For his size and stature he could belt out the tunes with the best of them. Sing, dance, act, perform, and was the fastest quick draw pistol packer in Hollywood. Oh, and all with one eye by the by!
elvis wished he could be in the same room as sammy...
I still remember him on someone’s show laughing and saying he was sure he was the only one eyed Jewish black man in America! He became a Jew for his wife who was Jewish.
There was never ever anyone like him and never will be again. He has been my fantasy my whole life.. it will go to the grave with me. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The epitome of class. This man had more talent in his pinky than all of Hollywood today...
I second that.
Started out in life as a 5 year old in vaudeville. Performed through Racism and Jim Crow Laws. All that America could throw at him and he kept going. This man was way past a class act. I couldn't agree with you more.
Yet he was never bitter and most of his close friends were white. He was bigger than any such petty issues... the key to greatness!
baretta song
Quit your whining!!! Sammy was cool, we all bear our own crosses
Lordcron blacks off today need to learn from him
I love how he starts the song by beat boxing! So ahead of his time!
So true. Al Jarre followed
He's making the bird noise actually.
Hands down the greatest entertainer who ever lived.
Well him and the late great Waylon Jennings!
The most complete entertainer who ever graced a stage there will never be his equal.
He ain't no Elvis . As well as quite a few others .
Elvis ain't no Sammy. Elvis wishes he had at least half of Sammy's talent. Cause that white man ain't talent. Fohhhh@@jerrywoods4066
He was just one of kind......dance, comedy, and sing......
I haven't seen anyone do it all..
This is from the time not that long ago, where people actually had to have real talent to perform at this level.
Sammy is wasted here, he's not even in time w the band. this is a disgrace
And he STILL blows away anything on the charts today!
THIS IS A DISGRACE ???, MY GOD YOU ARE A REAL JERK.
Matt Fusello Are you not entertained? I know I am.

Sammy is a goddamned legend!
Matt fusello I cannot even fathom why would you say such? This man is far from wasted. You need to learn about him before saying anything of the sort.
The world was blessed to have Sammy as an entertainer and a tremendous person.
Hands down a top shelf, triple threat, universally talented cat.
One of our best performers.
RIP Mr. Davis
No one could ever be another Sammy. I wish for those days again.
es fabuloso, increíblemente fenomenal.... si buscamos a los mejores cantantes de la historia de la música...Sammy Davis Jr. tiene una dimensión más.
God bless you Sammy Davis Jr...here's to you 🥂 my friend...
One of the last who could do it all.
When entertainers had charisma talent class and a complete sense of who they were total confidence and comfortable in their own skin
Sammy is a one of a kind
I miss GOOD entertainers like this!!!
Do you ever noticed people don't talk that way anymore. They were smooth talkers back then. words just flowed from their mouths.
That's cause people don't talk anymore. They text and play video games.
The man was infested with class...
@@notsocommonsense9100 And every 2nd word uttered now is "literally"; so annoying.
Sammy had a awesome and amazing voice and such a unique stage presence. Sadly there are not too many real singers like him around now days.
Elvis and Sammy were good friend and admired each other very much
Mr. Davis a Vocal Legend and 🎥 film Performer! Brilliant and Articulate!

Sammy had it all. Dance sing you name it. And also one of the funniest ever. Him and Dean Martin together used to have me in tears from laughing...

Do a UA-cam seacrh on Sammy Davis Jr. Acapulco 1979 There is a another piece of this concert online.
Look at the the hip hop chains on this brother
The other way round. It's the hophipsters that copied Sammy Davis' chains.

The WHAM! of SAM!
What a character...Sammy!
Robert Blake should have taken this warning.
Sammy was always a class act! Did you know, he was one of the fastest men with a gun on the planet? Yup, quick draw and a DEADLY shot! look it up.
Liked him in The Rifleman
@@jimhoover7913 That did not really highlight his skill with a gun, but what you saw was no fake, he did it himself.
Such a nice way of speaking - ❤
Sammy Davis Jr tinha maravilhosa voz.Era completo cantava, dançava, ator, tocava batéria.
RIP Mr. Davis🙏🏾
