Takes a bit sometimes to get the right equipment when doing things on your own. Happy to be at this point now as I've wanted to bump up the level of quality for a while now. See you around Johnny!
This looks great. Currently backed at core level. The campaign is so interactive! The theme.. art pulls it all together! Thanks so much for the preview!

We all say some words incorrectly and are corrected by people who know the language better (I speak English and I bet I still say some English words incorrectly).
For sure Graham! I certainly don't mind being corrected. Comes with the territory of being on UA-cam. I just decided when I hit the name while reading to jump past it. It's a first haha ;p
Hey! They’ll be unpainted, however there will be options for sun drop and maybe fully painted later in the campaign. Don’t quote me in that, but apparently it will be an option in some capacity. :)
Yeah, the FAQ reads that Sundrop will be offered about a week before the end of the campaign, and fully painted will be available during the Pledge Manager.
I guess fully painted miniatures will cost more than the game itself: it’s 13 character miniatures + 20 guardian monsters + 3 menhirs and the fore-dweller. That’s quite a few minis!
Interesting indeed. Thanks for the play through. I just unpacked the Nemesis core box and found the art book for this game inside. Something to follow for sure
one thing im interested in is how they handle character progression through multiple chapters and acts and how that scales against the enemies. i.e how that stays balanced and interesting
Subsequent chapters are spread far away in time; you play those using new characters, not the same ones. Each chapter is basically an adventure per se. The only things that carry over are map locations that may have been changed in previous chapters and some items which are passed on like heirloom or legendary items.
I really like how combat is handled, it's intuitive in the way the cards chain together yet there's plenty to think about, considering you effectively control the counterattack as well. I understand Diplomacy is similar - though, at a guess, it uses Empathy/Caution/Spirituality instead? (If so that's even neater, a character building for combat will be a fish out of water in diplomatic situations and vice versa :) )
I also enjoy it Prinny. It's different an diffferent is good! Allows for a lot of unique enemy and character abilities that can modify or change the mechanics of the sequence. It's very cool indeed! Diplomacy is similar but has a slight difference I really like. It does focus on those other three attributes more so. I'll show this in the next video ;)
You will then be “pleased” to know they recently changed the combat/diplomacy system quite a bunch 😨 You no longer need to chain icons together. You play just one card per turn and add “hits” to a pool until you beat the encounter’s value. You can play more cards only if you can chain “quick attack” icons to the abilities icons on card similar to previous chain mechanics. You get hits, card draws and other effects by chaining those icons. Also the cards get covered while playing additional cards, so you only have very few “active effects” in play during a chain. Enemies attacks may still break your chain and/or deplete your “hits pool”
Hey Doug! How’s it going? :) It does share a couple things with those two for sure. An interesting blend for sure. Should be interesting to see how the game opens up over time. Thanks for checking it out! Keep up your own great work! 👍🏼
Well, to be fair, Gloomhaven has a much deeper card’s upgrade system: you not only can swap out cards in your deck with different/more powerful abilities; you can also permanently upgrade each card with stickers, adding effects and increasing values.
So hyped for this! looks so promising, what do you think of the font and contrast between text and background on the card in general? does it get awkward when reading?
@@RollingSolo good! yeah maybe it is because I am watching this on my phone... lol, I love the double layered player board thou - either way ~ Hey! great video! really enjoy it, I hope your channel keep on growing! happy holidays
Seriously. This looks amazing! And you did a great job with the video. The part with connected abilities made me think of the old Pendragon rpg. I need this!
Firstly wow awesome giveaway With the game I sort of seeing it like a roguelike where you learn things with each play though BT enough random variety and of course the differences for each character I do wonder how they would do extra kick starter characters Any way thanks for entertaining us
stefan tyler Hey Stefan! Good thoughts. I believe there will be more characters. My guess would be some of them would be flushed out later in the game? The draft KS page has information but it’ll be a lot clearer during the campaign I’m sure. Good luck in the giveaway my friend!
Oh interesting... re: combat... The enemy card, numbers with consequences table... in other playthroughs, the left-most numbers were played as how many cards in the sequence rather than total calculated damage value of your sequence. Can you confirm this as current official rules? I ask because while both are still intriguing to me, some of what I’ve heard is that the game in its current form is REALLY hard because of combat.
Hey PostHuman! I’ve confirmed with the designers and it’s the total value of your sequence. So the value numbers on the cards / items etc. So the way my video shows is correct according to them. Here’s a piece from the rulebook as well. The ‘Value’ is what is shown in the center of your combat card. “To win, the total Value of your Combat Sequence has to match (or be higher than) the enemy Value, listed on the enemy Encounter card.” - Rulebook
I found deep madness thanks to you, and boy after your playthrough I'm really excited to get my copy! I'm a real sucker for hellish games, those that are tough but fair. I'd actually like to see you try (unless I missed it and you already tried) Machina Arcana. That's a tough game with amazing theming as well!
I always thought the "Feint" combat card should be read as: "if the enemy tries to counter this card, mark THE ENEMY - THE ENEMY's value is 2 for the rest of the encounter." Being a feint move, you trick the enemy into an opening, thus lowering the challenge for the rest of the encounter. If it's the attack card value to become 2, it doesn't make much sense to me: a feint can't do damage, it's just a move to make the emend drop its guard. My interpretation may sound a bit too powerful (it is indeed), but you need to think that card has magic and practicality only keys, which are less frequent than aggression and courage.
Ugh, right before Christmas, I find myself supporting a project for myself. The artwork is phenominal, and I'm enjoying the use of various mechanics in this one. Sold.
I was wondering about replayability when I watched your setup video, but the explore possibilities solved that. Interesting combat mechanic. Thanks Adam, it looks a very interesting game.
I wondered about that as well. I find the combat very interesting. It’ll be interesting to see how the game opens up and the combat and diplomacy come into play. Diplomacy is the one thing I haven’t covered yet. Looking forward to it!
Really liked the demo play. What are your thoughts on replay-ability from what you have seen so far, game looks more complex than I thought it would, but I like that. can't wait to see what the unlocks are when the Kickstarter goes live.
Hey Alan! Thanks so much. Glad to help. So far I haven’t played another character to see how that would change thing and also picking different actions and decisions. But I would imagine choosing different ways to handle things would have a completely different narrative feel to the game. Also seems cool for co-op as you hero at times may be get a special narrative encounter just for them. I have a link to the draft Kickstarter page in my description and pinned comment. It’ll give you a peak at what’s in store in advance. Thanks for watching!
Hi! I just found your channel yesterday and have been enjoying a bunch of your videos. Great job on them! I love the unboxing videos especially haha. I find them super neat. I've been wanting to get into board games for a while now, but I don't have anybody to play them with- so I've been looking for a soloable board game. Preferably one that I can play one-handed, rather than having to control two characters at once. I've searched around and narrowed it down to a couple. (Couple being a loose term because there are hundreds upon hundreds of board games). Arkham Horror 3rd edition Arkham Horror TCG Fallout Spirit Island Eldritch Horror Friday (Friday is so cheap that I will most likely pick it up anyways along with my final decision) There are of course a lot more such as Gloomhaven, Terraforming Mars, etc. But I'm really new to this so I can't really figure out which would be the best for me. I don't mind the game length. It can range from an hour to 2 or 3 hours. I'll be playing these when I'm free anyways. I mostly want a game with replay value and one that can be playing purely solo while remaining fair. Any ideas what I can narrow it down to? I don't mind if the game is difficult, as long as I actually have an exciting chance to win. And thanks!!! Your videos have been very helpful!
Hey Irrapture! Welcome to the solo community here! Glad you found us. That’s a great list you already put together. I think Arkham Horror LCG and Lord of the Rings LCG are high on the list. If you want narrative and less downtime, Arkham is the way to go. If you want deck building to beat a scenario (like a puzzle), go Lord of the Rings. Check out my top tens for a handful of others as well. Honestly it comes down to a couple more things. What type of game mechanics you like and theme. Might be able to narrow it down for you with that info.
@@RollingSolo Thanks for the quick reply! Yeah narrative is definitely high in my interest so it looks like Arkham Horror LCG should be my one to go to. As long as I can play it as one character without being severely punished for it, I think I'll give that one a go! I love anything Lovecraftian so I think that one should be my first board game. I'm very new to this all so I'm pretty clueless about the different mechanics these games offer. I was watching your Fallout Board Game introductorys as well and that game seems very interesting too!
Solo is totally doable in AH:LCG. I recommend using Roland Banks. He's great at fighting and can grab a clue for free once per round when he kills something. He also has access to Seeker cards for more clue grabbing. If you like the game (it's amazing btw) then you will want to buy a second core set to get 2 of every player card (you really want 2 Machete and 2 .45 autos in Roland's deck from the core box).
Tough comparison. I’d say it compares to 7th Continent more but has a much different combat system. I think Gloom of Kilforth is all on its own so you could own both and not have the feeling of crossover.
It’s very solid. There are paths that only certain characters will be able to follow in the narrative. So you get different outcomes and perspectives on the story. Also the event deck is made of a handful of fixed story plot cards but then it filled out with random events so that a replay of the same Chapter will not pan out in the same way even if you tried to follow the same path. Plus the different encounter decks. All four of them.
Hey Sean, good catch. I'll let the designers of the game know. I'm not the designer myself, just playing through their prototype. Great feedback! Cheers
The game looks like a very good game, but I am a little worried about replayability consdering that cards are referring to the same things from the lore book, aren't they?
Hey Gatherey, in terms of replayability you shouldn't worry. Each character will go through different story arcs within the main story based on who you're playing with. So you need to play with each of them to see how the story relates to them specifically. There are four encounter decks for randomization. The event deck while having a structure in terms of when the major plot points of the story occur, is also spiced up with random events throughout. So if you tried playing again with the same character and following the same actions and path, the events alone would disrupt that and change things on you. The ability to upgrade and focus on different attributes and ability cards is another avenue that opens or closes doors in the story. Explore actions branch into usually two-four options. Then the next major factor is you. Playing again and checking out different story arcs and accepting or declining tasks etc. can change the outcome. There is more than enough replayability here imo! Just my thoughts with what I've seen :)
excited for this game Good vid. Question, in the battle phase, why wasnt the enemies life decreasing? is it defeated only if your attack number is equal to or greater than enemies life? Are battles 1v1 or can other players join in?
Hey SR. The life of the enemy doesn’t go down. You only defeat it when your ‘value’ across your sequence and items abilities etc add up equal to the enemies number or above. Hope this helps!
hey man by any chance can you help me out? i missed the project tainted grail can you add me to your pledge and i will pay you? please? i live in israel i will pay for shipping too and everything.
Awesome to know I could help you out Jose! I love the narrative connection. So far I’m liking what I see. I think this is going to be a great one. Difficulty wise we’ll see as we go but I can see how the game will push you into exhaustion in combat if you happen to encounter things late in the day. Some of that will be out of your control but I like that. Keeps things interesting. More gameplay videos to come soon!

@@RollingSolo the problem is I love everything about the game besides the combat. Do you think substituting a dice game like x-wing or a descent type model could make it better? Is there any other combat system to make it better? Hypothetical question of course
Not sure! It would speed things up. Possible lose some of the story telling the cards give you while you play them. It sure could work but my guess is they wanted to try something different than the norm.

Great points here about Roland Kenny. Agree!
Hi Adam,
Great video, as always. How does this compare to Gloom of Kilforth?
Tough comparison. I’d say it compares to 7th Continent more but has a much different combat system. I think Gloom of Kilforth is all on its own so you could own both and not have the feeling of crossover.
@@RollingSolo Thanks, that's what I was hoping to hear!
You're welcome! Have a good one Karen.
Great video! It really seems to be a great game : even if there isn't a french version, i'll definitely go for it 😍!
We’ll have to see about different languages. I know that’ll be a hot topic!
Thanks for the kind words too Stephane!
@@RollingSolo by the way, my name is not stephanie but stephane (stephen in french😉)...and you deserve these compliments !
haha ops! Officially corrected. I blame auto correct. ;p
@@RollingSolo no problem👍
Looks really interesting and different. How does the replayability look?
It’s very solid. There are paths that only certain characters will be able to follow in the narrative. So you get different outcomes and perspectives on the story. Also the event deck is made of a handful of fixed story plot cards but then it filled out with random events so that a replay of the same Chapter will not pan out in the same way even if you tried to follow the same path. Plus the different encounter decks. All four of them.
Awesome quality
Thanks Leon! Hope you enjoy the journey :)
See you around!
I have backed for now but decision is not final.
Hey Ken! Hope my videos can help you decide either way. Cheers!
Would be great to receive this game! ;-)
Good luck in the draw Ton!
drats missed the give away
thanks for the video
The giveaway is still going! 6 days left. :)
You guys typo'd Cuanacht on one of the entries.
Spelling mistake?
Go back to the beginning of the video. You spell it two different ways on the same card.
Hey Sean, good catch. I'll let the designers of the game know. I'm not the designer myself, just playing through their prototype. Great feedback! Cheers
Thanks you so much for this one character playthrough. Man, I wish they had waited until Jan to start this up! Christmas, oy!
No problem! More to come very soon! :)
Also check out the 'The Last Knight Exploration Journal' SG they just announced! More options!
excited for this game
Good vid.
If you’re playing co-op and at the same location I believe other players can aid. I would need to confirm this though.
I'm so lad I backed that project !
It’s an exciting one for sure!
hey man by any chance can you help me out? i missed the project tainted grail can you add me to your pledge and i will pay you? please? i live in israel i will pay for shipping too and everything.
Great Video, great game!
It’s been a fun one for sure! Hope to see you around :)
Holy Moly, that's awesome, thank you!
You’re welcome Ryan. Good luck! :D
That combat system looks pretty awesome. I'd love it if they (or someone else) made a simple dungeon crawler with that system.
I really like it. It’s very unique and interesting. Lots of options!
Great video. This for sure 100% the 1st KS that I will back. How do you feel the difficulty and the quality of the story so far ?
Awesome to know I could help you out Jose! I love the narrative connection. So far I’m liking what I see. I think this is going to be a great one. Difficulty wise we’ll see as we go but I can see how the game will push you into exhaustion in combat if you happen to encounter things late in the day. Some of that will be out of your control but I like that. Keeps things interesting. More gameplay videos to come soon!
Going to be a long wait for this one, but damn it will be worth it!
Sure will be! Thanks for checking out the playthrough Eric.

I can't wait... Oh yes I can. OMG! PAX Unplug showed me I need to get at least 3 more jobs to pay for these games. :)
I would have loved to get out to PAXU! Not in the cards this year but maybe in the future. :)
@@RollingSolo I wish I could have gone. Looking at vids and facebook post... Blah...
There’s a big benefit to being able to play games in peace outside a convention though haha
im surly tempted for this game, as the nemesis was a big hit for me 😉
I can’t wait for Nemesis to arrive. Hope to be able to show you even more coming soon!
Fantastic Stuff Adam. Thanks again :)
Thanks Cesar! Glad to hear you’re enjoying it :)
Looks like the cards would be a bit difficult to read... Get old is a bummer!!! lol
They better include a magnifying glass or monocle as a stretch goal then! 🧐 haha
Great video and nice contest!
Thomas! Thanks so much. Best of luck 👍🏼
I really want it!
Hey Nina! Thanks for taking the time to check it out. Glad it's something you enjoy :)
Just wanted to say thank you in advance! 😉
Hey Maurice! No problem. Thanks for taking the time to check out the video. See you in the next one and good luck :)
Dam this game looks impressive.
Hey Grim! Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy the next part!
I wanna win
Fingers crossed Joe!
Combat is probably the worst part of this game.
Interesting take! I’ve heard it’s enjoyed but mechanics don’t always work for everyone. See you around!
It sure could work but my guess is they wanted to try something different than the norm.
good game for solo, bad game for co-op
I think one-two players it would be great. But agree that this one is likely best solo. Works for this community very well ;D
