@@Bopplenader move it so its before the armature modifier, and if the mirror modifier was applied and it isn't working that is a problem with the bone names on the rig
I can feel your migraine through my screen, but that also means I'm in the presence of true creativity. I mean, you took one of the most tedious processes known to man and made it into the most entertaining vide I've seen all day. I didn't hit my arrow keys or jump around the timeline ONCE, and that's so rare for me unless I'm really enjoying myself. Know you are living up to your content creator idols in a big way.
i've been using blender for about 2 years (for school) however i am unable to create character models and rig/animate as i only have experience creating scenery (since that's what i did for school). none the less i encourage you to learn blender as once you have most of the basics down it should become much easier to work with, also great video about ultrakill :)
As someone also learning blender the model turning inside out is a really relatable problem usually what i do is select all and press ctrl + n (or alt + n i forgot) and press recalculate outside blah blah and its a easy thing to solve
I knew instantly your model had inside faces on the outside instantly because of my pain with the same issue 😂 but EVERYONE needs to watch 100+ tips to boost modeling from cg boost as a beginner that just introduces you to so many useful things you'll use for every model and if you can't remember basically any of them the video is already broken into a bunch of sections and you can find what you're thinking of pretty easily
I love how even the UA-cam algorithm knows that when I start searching up blender tutorials, it should suggest me memes of people struggling in blender and whole videos about people learning blender
The final result turn out so well! Even if i had three months to do something like that i wouldn't be able to. The only thing i can barely do is cenarios.
I'm a beginner in Blender too and I had a very similar path to you, so I totally relate to the video XD Also, your editing, scripting and "memeing" is awesome. I subbed ^^
It’s really funny because I made a really similar video like 2 years ago and also started with the donut and DAMN it was hard. The “one week” was more like “10 days but with 3 days of breaks because too intense” lol. Anyway, that video ended up flopping, so I’m actually internally really happy to see your video doing well because it’s proof that it was a cool video concept after all :’) (I just didn’t have the skill to execute it well back then).
this was an amizing video! i rectnly watched your ultrakill video and i really liked it, and i hope you had fun doing the gabriel blender model, i also have been using blender for about 1 or 2 years! its great to see how muc progress you just made in less than a month! great job!
one thing I've done before to speed up weight painting is cutting everything in half through edit mode, adding a mirror modifier, and applying it. If it's done while everything is parented to the bones, which shouldn't be tampered with during the process, then your weights will be equal on each side of the model.
Holy shit, for your first model it's so good. I struggled so hard( and lazed around) until I actually got good models out. Good luck on your 3d journey!
you doing so great! i have been using blender since 2017 and still go to youtube and try to figure-out how to properly make feet even tho i have two of them
Sheesh, even a month into blender you made waaay better progress than I have 😂 I’m still on the donut and restarted atleast like 20 times (also I tried to do a water cup animation with ice cubes but the simulated water was not being you know, water)
Wasn't planning on commenting until I heard Katana Zero's Come And See song, awesome video, awesome musical tastes, awesome art, inspired me to get back to blender once more and reach for the subscribe button
Me personally i tried the donut tutorial and didn't enjoy it but when i did my own models i figured out when i just messed around trying to make a sword etc. and now im doing quite well making models easily and enjoying it ( when it works out)
Thats really cool that you tried doing all those things in a "week" I'm too much of a coward to get out of my blender comfort zone and challenge myself to do any texturing or 2d stuff even if it will improve my 3D art
You know you can... like use plain materials instead of painting everything right (though you miss the small details)? You can also parent the armature with empty groups and assign the faces on edit mode one by one instead of weight painting, for someone like me that cannot use a brush without destroying everyting is a god sent. Also, also, you can move the blender camera to your view. Select the camera. And on the viewport, on the left toggles click view and tick "camera to view". That makes so when you press numPad 0 (to get the camera view, it follows your view isntantly) The model looks pretty good though. Good job!
I know people want to learn things in a small amount of time, but it really depends on how fast you learn and how much you can remember. For me, I take time. Yes I also hate how slow I tend to go but I remember things more than if I were rushing it. Figure out how you learn things, go at that pace and when you are more confident, speed it up a bit. Do it in a way that you still are getting wins and learn from your mistakes.
“The model got turned inside out” is such a relatable fuck up. Like HOW did that happen? Interestingly, I’m pretty sure donut tutorial guy actually mentioned “if the paint doesn’t show up, it might be inside out” I’m like, 98% sure he said something like that in one of the videos which makes it even funnier because I did the same thing 😭
Try Zbrush next, you'll see what a truly eldrich nightmare of a GUI that one have. Anyway, great job! My first 3D software was Milkshape 3D back in 2010. Then switched to Blender and been happy with it ever since, 13 years strong.

1:35 I saw this and right away I was like, u got inverted normals. I always have flipped normals in my projects, it's a running joke with my friends LOL
Thank you guys so much for watching!
now i will take a break before breaking my back making another vid!
deserved break tbh
You are now part of the 800+ channels I'm now subscribed to. 🔥🔥🔥
Is the next video gonna be self insert gabriel fanfic
What was the second tutorial you recommended?
You have EARNED this break! The second tutorial was the one I think I used when I started using Blender too!

That's dedication bro. Keep it up, it'll pay off
I hate rigging so much
This video has inspired me to not return to blender. Tysm Riin
you’re welcome ✨

you made my favourite ultrakill video, so I'm glad you're still making videos. Also the editing in this is hilarious
From learning blender to learning SFM? You will go insane, may Gabriel watch over your mental🙏

when i use mirror modifier my rigging only works on my right side
