If I understand correctly, he has the pink jewel, love, which is why he is in love at all. I could be wrong tho! Still creepy. Manly has played even creepier games than this in his time, too..
Honestly, I was expecting a game more in the vein of Crooked Man or Mermaid Swamp, but I really liked the style Uri went on this one. It had one of the most interesting antagonists I've seen in a game as well... as the other fairies said "Sandman is a stubborn old coot, but he's no villain"

The ending, “sleep with one eye open” is saddest for Sophie to me - I would rather the boogeyman or something get me than live alone like that! But again, because I liked the Sandman’s character the best, the “see you in a bad dream” ending was *worst* one to me, crying eternally for someone you know is in pain but can never help. “Invisible sweetheart” was interesting because dealt with the grief of the one left behind... sad devoted Lullaby just 'pretending'. I didn't like the "Queen of the Night" ending because didn't want to see Sophie become hate-filled in an eternal sleepless night. I guess best ending is supposed to be where Sophie resolves everything “don’t stay up late at night” & I guess technically it is. But I can’t help liking “welcome back insomnia” the *best* because the Sandman would be forever in love in that one ~w~
its supposed both parts of the endings are the same one (the good endings) but showing a diferent point of view(i liked them). About the "Invisible sweetheart" ending, i think isnt just the fact that sophie passed away, but the fact that Lullaby's function was to fulfill her wishes so she could sleep, the fact that she "Probably" passed away, never resolving what was really bothering her, and just trying to make things up with something else, like when she just wants to pretend lullaby is David. i think that lullaby will be staying forever because his cause was to make her sleep nicely, but if the loss of Sophie didnt made him banish from the world, maybe means that there was a secondary point to fulfill his role (just assuming if Passing away doesnt counts as "eternal sleep") overall that was the Saddest in my opinion. and i liked how it linked both Good endings.

I think Lullaby's function then kind of is like a robot in one of those post-apocalyptic sci-fi worlds... left to do tasks for no real purpose until an owner/master/mistress comes home. The pink jewel is her "love" and by giving it up she loses her crush on David and can grow as a person. She'll need it back eventually though if she ever wants to love someone in that way again.
god sophie is a great example of a very human character. she's told to put up with her hardships bc they'll make her stronger and its for the better of everyoen around her but then she's the one bearin the load of everything. her line "i don't want to be a saint, i just want to be human" is so good!

Sophie clings to David's kindness out of desperation and mistakes it for romantic attraction, and it stunts her emotional growth. Without it, she can keep a clear head, stop lying to herself, and understand the Sandman's own personal suffering.
I thought when Sophie turned into Nightmare Moon she'd force Lullaby to turn into David and make him her sex slave or something then again I've watched one too many hentais
