yuka's swollen body reminded me of the people who died by drowning... when their corpses are retrieved, they have usually swallowed tons of water so the skin is gross and... well
I'm going to go over it a bit when I finish the game but I'm assuming the game will involve a plot similar to "Yao Bikuni" and other various legends about Ningyo. Not long after that dinner scene I started to wonder what he fed them and if that had a effect on the girl.
I had no idea Manly’s channel was this old! I’m so used to his soothing low voice, it never occurred to me it used to be higher! Edit: the sarcasm never changed XD
This is one of the first rpg horror games I ever played and it's been my favorite even after all these years. Mermaid Swamp is a classic and was truly a masterpiece in many ways.
Came over from the Remake video... Key Puzzles in a nutshell: CONGRATULATIONS ON FINDING THE KEY TO THIS THING, have another key to unlock another thing later.
Oh god... Yuuta is like a sane Kizami. Or maybe more like Morishige... Corpse Party and Paranoiac have combined! So much for my prediction that Yuuta would be the first to die, since he wanted to go swim in the FRIGGIN SWAMP!
Just to reestablish that I'm a nerd, I wanted to point out that, due to the documents our protagonist is attempting to read being written in the era that it was, it was probably written completely in obscure kanji (no hiragana back then) that was more Chinese than today's Japanese kanji. The language has changed quite a bit just in the past few centuries. Her friend can probably read it because he's a history buff.
I felt a bit nostalgic for Uri games and came back to this one since at the time it was my favourite... I was like 15 with a very poor grasp on the English language so I only understood like half of it. This is also the first time I heard the phrase "Jerking off" lol the things you learn through horror videogames. Thank you Manly for keeping me company for 10+ years!
I don't think I ever saw you play this, if I did I got amnesia on it. Haha... But I'm excited, I love your rpg horror let's Plays. And I've seen this one before, but I love to see other gamers take on it and reactions
+felitastic Okay, this comes four months later, but if you still like to know, it's 'kaputt' in Germany, which means exactly the same thing as agreeableWitch said. Don't know why this word swapped over to american slang though as it already sounds weird in German imho.. ;)
Oh, come on, Rin! Everyone knows the story of Hamlet and how Ophelia ended up. Aslo, can we be sure this was by the same person who made Crooked Man and Paranoiac? There is a distinct lack of dementia-ridden parental figures and the protagonist of largely without any long term psychological problems. Those seem to be the big motifs Uri goes for.
coming back to these videos that i watched while younger (i was a messed up kid) you can def hear that his voice is a lot more high pitched, and his microphone is a lot worse then the one he has current day (tho its still a good microphone dont get me wrong) pretty neat
I remember my parents and I took a road trip to somewhere (Delaware?) once. My Dad kept insisting that the way home is north, even though we were living in the southern U.S. There was another time where we got lost in the middle of the night during *another* road trip, and my parents refused to stop arguing with each other. I can't read a map no matter how hard I try, so...I have to rely on a GPS just to make sure I know where I'm going.
The snack that smiles back! GOLDFISH! ............................................................................................................................................................................
that is probably going to become extremely important later, and most likely has some connection to the mermaid, and Ophelia. Most likely the characters dream about being underwater may have some connection to this as well.
"Key puzzles..... nooo...." I'm laughing, then suddenly: "AAAH! FUCK YOU!" Now I spilled my drink because I was startled by your scream... even though I watch this for the SECOND time.
This story reminds me of an anime I watched a long time ago, about eatting a mermaids flesh can grant you one of three things. Immortality, the ageless and can only be killed by cutting off the head, kill you out right in rather horrific ways, and lastly it could turn you into a monster that feeds on human flesh
Awesome XD So does that mean that Rin didn't lock the door while she was on the bathroom? XD and.. i laughed when Yuuta did such a thing in a time like this XD wooh. I see what you did there Uri 8D ... anyways i love your vids, manly :D
I think that was the Mermaid Saga by Rumiko Takahashi. Mermaids in that series were monsters who could take the form of beautiful women but only if they gained immortality by eating the mermaid's flesh.
The Chinese characters (not Japanese) at the last bit of the video is "Ren Yi Yong" which is "mermaid" (though the totally direct translation of it is fish person/people, the "ren" is person/people and "yi" is fish) and "swamp". Just wanted to point it out. :)
Monsters in spooky places? Christopher Walken voice in the beginning? Is it absolutely perfect?! No, but it's pretty sweet. XD Looking forward to this playthrough.
The Pre Raphaelite painting of Ophelia, the model for it wasn't allowed of of the bath-tub in which she lay fully clothed. She caught a cold and the artist, Sir John Everett Millais, was sued for £50
Also if you remember what the old man said in the legend, the mermaid started to bloat and become disfigured, now think about yuka...sounds similier yes? As for the swamp being warm...well if it is a low land swamp most likely but this swamp is most likely fed from run off from snow or other cold water, then again they never said how high up the mountian they are so my theory might get debunked.
I caught that. I heard that reference. I don't believe you're Inspector Lunge though. Come to think of it, Monster would actually be a very good premise for a mystery game...

I died when Seitaro ran in and Manly was like "Dude, come on."
Manly sounded so god dang agitated that it was just hilarious.
I was making a obscure nod to the manga "Monster"
Wow, Manly sounds so young here!
He's grown so much since this series was released~
He has deeper calmer voice now
@@zainmudassir2964yep
I enjoyed his dismayed scream at that jumpscare.
ₕₐₕ!
48:23 that jumpscare was the first time I ever head you jump in your let's plays, so far anyway x3 HAH
If anything I notice how almost every room has a fireplace.
Maybe they're secret tunnels.
I'm going to go over it a bit when I finish the game but I'm assuming the game will involve a plot similar to "Yao Bikuni" and other various legends about Ningyo.
Not long after that dinner scene I started to wonder what he fed them and if that had a effect on the girl.
"I've woken up in and it seems I'm in some kind of weird long rectangle thing that looks like a car" i just died lauging
What's up with all these you tubers having hypnotic ass voices man imma end up fallin asleep
maybe it doesn't suit you. I enjoy it actually
Hân Hồ
I mean, I love the voices lmao. I'm kind of jealous actually
+The0ptic Llama (The0pticLlamaInc.) Me too xd
They just appear out of thin air it seems
Cantarella 000 q

His voice is nnnngghhh beautiful. *w*
Oh, just you wait xD
Manly- navigator extraordinare
except for that one time we don't talk about
I ship Rin and Seitaro.
Its been years since your comment but even in 2019 id ship them.
I prefer Rin x Yuka
You sound like Crispin Freeman, an english dub anime voice actor. He does the voice for Alucard from Hellsing.
Dude you deserve to have SO MANY SUBSCRIBERS. That voice tho ;D
48:24
The most Manlyest of screams.......from Manlybadasshero.
Get ready for a loud jumpscare though!

:3 finally a youtuber with the PERFECT voice and gameplay finally...
And humour 😂
Oh god... Yuuta is like a sane Kizami. Or maybe more like Morishige... Corpse Party and Paranoiac have combined! So much for my prediction that Yuuta would be the first to die, since he wanted to go swim in the FRIGGIN SWAMP!
You kinda sound like Solid Snake! But younger.
I like that :3
Dark Masamune lolol now he really sounds like snake
27:00 Just realized that Seitaro said "hurru" instead of "hurry".
HOLY SHI- I thought Yuuta was a girl in the car scene! O_o
IKR! O_O #PLOTTWIST! O_O
my fave line "don'tmind me just a creepy old man" lol
Your voice is so awsome >w
dude your voice is fucking awesome
Rectangle-thing that looks like a car. xD

Oh my God his voice was baby. I love this character arc
I'M SORRY I DID NOT REALIZE THIS WAS FROM 8 YEARS AGO THAT VOICE DIFFERENCE TO PRESENT DAY FUCKING SCARED ME
Sorry about having 3 comments in a row but if you put a wizard hat on Rin she would look like Marisa from Touhou :o
OH MY SWEET BABY BOy
even your voice has changed oh my heart. I'm so glad I'm rewatching this now that you're doing the remake's playthrough
I don't think I ever saw you play this, if I did I got amnesia on it. Haha... But I'm excited, I love your rpg horror let's Plays. And I've seen this one before, but I love to see other gamers take on it and reactions
Your Voice is so relaxing.
Weird, the "jumpscares" happened so fast I wasn't all that startled by them, but the story in the game is pretty interesting.
They both have the most amazing voices in the world - I could fall asleep to both of them speaking.
damn, Rin has a manly badass voice...
k, bye
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ningyo
I'm guessing this is the actual thing this game is about.
Oh that's interesting, thanks!
I'm curious, is "our car went kaputt" something you can really say in English? Sounds so odd.
felitastic Kaput is slang for not working or broken, but not many of the people I know use the word a lot. It sounds weird to everybody, I think :)
agreeableWitch I see. Thanks for your answer :D
+felitastic Okay, this comes four months later, but if you still like to know, it's 'kaputt' in Germany, which means exactly the same thing as agreeableWitch said. Don't know why this word swapped over to american slang though as it already sounds weird in German imho.. ;)
Well there is a type of "mermaid" called selkie, which is indeed a seal, but when they lose their skin, they can become human.
Oh, come on, Rin! Everyone knows the story of Hamlet and how Ophelia ended up.

"BadlyBadassHero"
*thumbs up*
The movie is from the Japanese "Guinea Pig" film series called "Guinea Pig: Mermaid in a Manhole"
26:56 "Hurru"
coming back to these videos that i watched while younger (i was a messed up kid) you can def hear that his voice is a lot more high pitched, and his microphone is a lot worse then the one he has current day (tho its still a good microphone dont get me wrong) pretty neat
Yes, it was.
2013 was a good year.
Great series Manly ! But damn that MC Rin is damn annoying douche character :P
The dream sequences remind me of the first Pokémon Mystery Dungeon's dream sequences
I loved this game and watching you play it is even more enjoyable.
I remember my parents and I took a road trip to somewhere (Delaware?) once. Same here lol but I loved Manly's reaction to it XD
I just go into random gas stations where no one speaks English and ask for directions.
That is the case actually.
I just finished watching the new LP of the remake. I can see why Uri made that choice. I like the new one a lot
Oh! I heard it! Umbasa!
Lol Old Man is secretly Solid Snake(Old Snake Camo).
You mean the screen flash scare towards the end right?
a good sudden recommendation
There's one right there in the description.
Thank you so freaking much for uploading this, Manly! :D
The fish with the bulging eyes reminds me of Yuka's condition.
The gray-haired guy looks like Jack Frost :)
"Shinji, noooooooooo!!!!" LOL!!!!
that is probably going to become extremely important later, and most likely has some connection to the mermaid, and Ophelia. Most likely the characters dream about being underwater may have some connection to this as well.

That car's interior re-defines 'cube car'.
i think yuuta's gonna be possessed by the guy who took the mermaid back to the mountains
I really enjoyed the Crooked Men! Thanks for the upload
Why does the voice he's doing for the old man sounds like Snake from MGS? Lol
I think that was the Mermaid Saga by Rumiko Takahashi. Mermaids in that series were monsters who could take the form of beautiful women but only if they gained immortality by eating the mermaid's flesh.
i love u man...love the series..got another subscriber..im your fan..keep on playing horror game!!!

119 is the Japanese's Medical equivalent to 911 (US) / 999 (UK).
36:17 "This game contains sexual imagery" awww yeah.
Monsters in spooky places? Christopher Walken voice in the beginning? Is it absolutely perfect?!
No, but it's pretty sweet. XD

The Pre Raphaelite painting of Ophelia, the model for it wasn't allowed of of the bath-tub in which she lay fully clothed. She caught a cold and the artist, Sir John Everett Millais, was sued for £50
This is a really cool! You just got a new subscriber Manly! Your commentary is really cool and laid back... Fab video, keep up the cool vids!
I look forward to it, I love a good story based game. Trying to figure it out and pondering events and their meanings is also something I enjoy
I have never seen a comment so old with no replys
@@incognitoman4496 it happens
For some reason this does remind me of paranoiac. Even though the whole set up is different.
48:23
"WH-...*FUCK YOU*"

jajajaja "under the sea, under the sea" I like it
Manlys voice in this episode sounds like Snake from metal gear solid xD
The voice of Solid Snake.
i think the beginning of this at least was the exact plot of an episode of scooby doo...
Manly, your scream scared me more than the random glowing eyes lol
Sometimes you sound like Snake from Metal Gear and I think that that is really rad~
I caught that. I heard that reference. I don't believe you're Inspector Lunge though.
Come to think of it, Monster would actually be a very good premise for a mystery game...
Yukas state reminds me of that weird gas from Gyo. Now I expect fishes and mermaids on mechanical legs to appear xD
The dialogue for this game is so fucking annoying, no one really talks like that
I was commenting on the bathtub, it is the size of a small pool, kinda like something was ment to be kept inside, this is just speculation on my part
I believe they are referring to "Solid Snake" from the game "Metal Gear Solid".
this is the first time i see this game but the house looks familiar its from another horror rpg where the girl goes into that house and the aunt killed herself and haunts her
36:20 - that fish reminds me of a Moore crossed with a Goldfish because those are bred to have bulged eyes
