Menswear neutrals are great. My problem in using them is (1) clothing companies often choose "weird" browns, blues, etc., that are clearly not in keeping with the spirit of menswear neutrals--i.e., John F. Kennedy would not have worn that brown, that blue, etc. Also, what exactly is "olive green"? There seems to be a gazillion shades of it. Olives themselves are a pale, yellowish green (or greenish yellow). But the "olive green" in the video is a very dusky green with maybe the slightest hint of yellow. (2) Plaids (which I love) so often contain multiple "off limit" colors, or multiple "weird" menswear neutrals. So if you wear them, you're getting not one "pop" of color, but a number of different pops.

Part of it, which I didn't have time to cover in this #shorts, is that when you look at enough clothes, you develop a taste for the shade of brown, blue, green, etc. that you like. So yeah I agree, some browns have too much yellow, some are too red. Brown, in this case, typically applies to leather shoes. So a standard medium- to dark brown leather is (relatively) the same.
I agree w/ you re: olive. I should've used the term "army green", which i think better illustrates the green I'm suggesting. Just think of army fatigues, a muted, desaturated green / grey almost.
re #2: as long as your entire outfit is menswear neutrals, you can wear a plaid shirt with different colors. it'll work. it's assumed that the plaid designer knew what he was doing when he put those colors together ;)

very bad advice. so, to wit, how would you dress a dark skin tone for summer if you lump all these colours as neutral?

not true. These colors are neutral in that they go with each other without clashing. It's very *good* advice. These work just fine with any skin color, my guy

@@DemetriosLevi untrue. black and olive green wouldn't work on pale skin, like Irish pale. Add redheaded hair there and it's one hot mess
white and tan wouldn't work on a black skin, like Sudanese black.
everything needs effort, no generalization to forego putting in the work to look good

Who says those colors don’t work on those skin types? I’d disagree w that. You don’t have to wear any colors you don’t like, but doesn’t mean they can’t be pulled off.
