The intro riff of The Arctic Monkey's is reminiscent of the bridge ('please don't be long...') on 'Blue Jay Way' by The Beatles. Really enjoying your channel - recommending it to everyone I know who loves music. Would love to hear you talk more about The Beatles...don't trust anyone who doesn't like them! I am not familiar with that song so it just sounds very classic and very, very introspective to me, a little like the Carpenters, I will have to check it out

This is a great song!! I've been listening to them since 2008. And it feels like i've been evolving and changing with them. So for me their different sound is not something intolerable or shocking everytime a new album comes. I love their different sides, actually i can draw a lot of connections to previous Alex's works so he is still 100% himself ofcourse. That unique energy. It is what i loved about his music the first time and i can hear it is still there.
You were brilliant at the tribute concert, Justin. Well done mate! Special mention for the Coattail Riders songs you sang on. Taylor would have been well chuffed with that
There's a really subtle bass bit that happens only one time at 2:40 in the song (not part of this video, so ignore that time stamp). Almost like a bass fill or something. Gets me every time. And great restraint from the band to only include it once.
I saw you at Taylor's tribute and what an amazing performance and stage presence!! I remembered that I loved the video for "I believe I'm a thing called love" I found your channel and I'm already following, hugs from Brazil ♥️ ps: I loved your sparkiling outfit and you singing Queen, JUST PERFECT!!

How in the holy effing heaven did you manage to cover a song by a band you absolutely adore and then do it in front of a crowd of people who lost one of their heroes as well as dealing with the loss. Thanks, love the videos.
You do trust me you’ve just got to find a band or artist that blow your fucking mind (mine was Nirvana/Kurt Cobain) and from the moment I heard there first album Bleach I just sat on my bed and learned every song on the album one at a time by myself until I was utterly sick of making mistakes and then eventually you break through! But every artist/guitarist is always learning no matter what some might say...
I love your song transcription process because it's basically the way most musicians on earth learn how to play a song: sit there with a guitar or some instrument of choice and a song playing in the background and pick out the notes. If you are a beginner musician: take notes... this is one of the fastest ways to learn music.

Wow..... I can only imagine. Just watching it live was so emotional, and I've been watchi g it over and over every day since. So being there would seem so surreal. So happy you got to experience what felt like the best rock gig since forever.
Arctic Monkeys are my favorite band and have been for over a decade and whilst I can appreciate their new direction from the last two albums - I certainly do miss their older stuff.
I love how early you picked up on the Scott Walker influence, Alex has mentioned a few times the influence his albums have had on his writing with the monkeys and particularly with the last shadow puppets! Nice one. Keep it up
thank you Justin, I like the way you described it , It reminds me the type of music I would listen in college as well , scott walker type thing... a masterpiece.
I saw the arctic monkeys a few weeks ago at Reading. They were amazing, alex nailed every song, he changed outfits throughout the set including changing to a white shirt and denim jacket when playing some old classics. They played numerous old songs and it felt like they put effort in to gives fans what they wanted, a sing along with outfit changes throwing you back in time. They played maybe 5 songs off hotel tranq and also played a new song and every time they played something that wasn’t a ‘classic’ singalong of theirs, a fair amount of the crowd booed and left, it created the worst atmosphere I’ve ever seen at a gig and it was such a shame because they were so amazing, if there wasn’t so many fake fans in the crowd it would have been the best live performance I’ve seen.
@UCoKBYJur43q8nexRdxntnMQ They played two. One Point Perspective and TBHC. The setlist is publicly available on setlist.fm for your reference. I assume you’re getting mixed up with songs from Suck it and See and Humbug that you thought were from TBHC.
I'm convinced the bongo's at the end along with the strings are a bid to Marvin Gaye's "I Want You". I'm sure many more than me picked that up. Loving this track.
I love watching you deconstruct songs on your guitar ☺️ This is a song that I would normally dismiss as not my taste, but you made it sound so interesting that I’m going to have to give it a better chance. As it doesn’t have a chorus, would that eerie repeating melody be considered the hook?
You gave a great performance at the Taylor Hawkins tribute, I was really glad to see you there. As many others I subscribed to you for your reactions to other musicians and now I am a full The Darkness fan. Everything you enjoy in other artists is fully displayed in your own songs so I hope we have your musical opinion and output for many years. Also it’d be great to see your reaction a the new Polyphia song ABC. Cheers mate.
It was no longer like seeing Superstar Rockstar Justin Hawkins from The Darkness. It was like seeing my mate Justin from that UA-cam show. I wept often and pumped my fist in the air :) Much love dude!! RIP TH!!
I struggled a little bit with the evolution of the Arctic Monkeys. I think my tiny lizard brain maybe just wasn’t ready for it. However I really enjoyed this new track, even more so after the technical analysis that I’ve just witnessed. I absolutely should and will return to the last couple of albums and give them another chance. Good day! X
Exactly the same here Ben. The Josh Homme record was the first bump in the road for me, because AM doing desert stoner rock wasn't what I was expecting at all. I've warmed to all of their newer output somewhat after returning to them myself. Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino just won't work for me at all though, no matter how many times I tried to re-listen. Good luck on your rediscovery journey though. ✌
I think this new song sounds like they wanted Tranquility Base to sound. It was always a cool concept and great lyrics, but the songs really should have stayed as demos.
I love arctic monkeys Alex turner can do no wrong in my eyes. I prefer the earlier stuff just because it’s more my thing but I’m not put off by their change in direction I understand that artists do not want to regurgitate the same stuff over and over for their whole life
@@luizarthurbrito you probably already know but if not check out the Reytons I’d say they’re a bit more milburn than the monkeys but it might invoke the early vibe you’re after. John Lennon was once interviewed after the Beatles split and said what do people expect me to do stand around and sing she loves you for the rest of my life in a condescending voice implying he was old and being wheeled out on stage. Alex Turner isn’t just going to write songs about reebok classics and tropical reefs all his life as good as all that was in the moment I think he’s going to move in and out of genres and possibly even create his own some of I’ll like some of it I won’t but I shouldn’t think he’ll lose any sleep over my opinion 😂
I can respect the entire discography. They've grown. He's nearly 40. It's gonna be hard to keep singing about going into clubs and picking up girls in a bar and showing the young adult angst he used to write his early work. That being said the concept album in thbc was interesting and I enjoyed it these 4 years they were gone. These last 2 songs they've released also have grown on me the more I listen to them. I look forward to this direction they're taking
Thanks for playing vibration festival Justin, I know it’s only a little gig for you guys but it was just across the road for us and it was like seeing one of your favourite bands play in your garden, The bit during get your hands off my woman when you asked people to lift their kids up to sing along with you was hilarious, not just the woman who lifted her child up and did that three step forwards and fall flat on your face thing, the kid was laughing so no harm done, so thanks again and Nae Bothir
I just saw you with Queen - man, I know it may sound cheesy, but I was really proud to see you on that stage! Seeing you with the Darkness, changing some words with you, around midnight, at a BP station in Portugal, when I was on my way home from a gig (I m a bassist) and you were coming from Rock in Rio, later finding your UA-cam channel (,to which I tune in regularly) and now the gig in Wembley, it s like seing a friend getting the recognition it deserves! Taylor Hawkins would also be proud! Ps just came from Beato s channel and he has a message for you - "let s do it"! Cheers from Portugal
Mr. Hawkins, when I first heard "I believe in a thing called love" I thought The Darkness was a parody band. I started listening to your work a little more and a little more and discovered I was mesmerized by your voice. I watched some live shows, hoping to go to one some day, and have to say, you define Rock Star. Your page is awesome and I love that you are doing this to share your gifted musical talent and your take on other artists and their music. Keep on rocking 🤘🏼
Sadly, even after all of these years, some rock fans *still* think The Darkness is a parody band. I've seen people making dismissive comments, online, which only prove that they haven't really, seriously, listened to much of the band's catalogue of albums. The Darkness clearly has a fun and witty sense of humor,, but this is a serious rock band, and a great one too! My favorite rock band of the last twenty years!
Justin, I'd like to recommend August is falling. They're one of my favorite bands. I saw them at the stone pony last month and they released some new songs recently.
Justin, love your videos and analysis of all these songs and artists. I was curious what your opinion was of cheap trick. I think a review of anything they’ve done would be a fun video. Thanks for the videos. Always enjoyable. Cheers!
Justin! Absolutely fantastic performance at the tribute concert, your voice was absolutely out of this world especially with Brian and Roger! Strangely I wanted to hear what you would have sounded like with Queen because of the high notes. All I’ll say is that I loved every second of it. Rock on 🤘🏻

Wow..... I can only imagine. Just watching it live was so emotional, and I've been watchi g it over and over every day since. So being there would seem so surreal. So happy you got to experience what felt like the best rock gig since forever.
me too, and much like you it took me a while to go back to reality after it. still not entirely there yet. ♥
You ruled man!!!!!!
Arctic Monkeys are my favorite band and have been for over a decade and whilst I can appreciate their new direction from the last two albums - I certainly do miss their older stuff.
Hey Justin! Rick Beato saw your shout out. He says “let’s do it”.
They played maybe 5 songs off hotel tranq and also played a new song and every time they played something that wasn’t a ‘classic’ singalong of theirs, a fair amount of the crowd booed and left, it created the worst atmosphere I’ve ever seen at a gig and it was such a shame because they were so amazing, if there wasn’t so many fake fans in the crowd it would have been the best live performance I’ve seen.
oh dear, what's up with people?
'They played maybe 5 songs off hotel tranq'
They played two. I was there lol
But yeah the gig was marred by 16 year old chavs.
@@MrNorbo95 must of been new songs then
@UCoKBYJur43q8nexRdxntnMQ They played two. One Point Perspective and TBHC. The setlist is publicly available on setlist.fm for your reference.
I assume you’re getting mixed up with songs from Suck it and See and Humbug that you thought were from TBHC.
@@OscarJamess Yeah they played one new song.
I'm convinced the bongo's at the end along with the strings are a bid to Marvin Gaye's "I Want You". I'm sure many more than me picked that up. Loving this track.
Brilliant analysis as always Justin you legend. I like the song - well done AM.
Thanks for helping us heal, Justin.
I love watching you deconstruct songs on your guitar ☺️ This is a song that I would normally dismiss as not my taste, but you made it sound so interesting that I’m going to have to give it a better chance. As it doesn’t have a chorus, would that eerie repeating melody be considered the hook?
Alex Turner has always mentioned Scott Walker as a major influence but it’s funny how quickly Justin picks up on it so quickly
I get mega James Bond Theme vibes from this song! It's great!
Very similar patterns and orchestral flair
RICK BEATO….He say Yeeeah! 👌🏻😃
Spot on there mate couldn’t agree more!
It was no longer like seeing Superstar Rockstar Justin Hawkins from The Darkness. It was like seeing my mate Justin from that UA-cam show. I wept often and pumped my fist in the air :) Much love dude!! RIP TH!!
Thanks!
Cheers!
It was always a cool concept and great lyrics, but the songs really should have stayed as demos.

great job at the tribute show!!! you rocked
Justin, what is that lovely acoustic you have there? Thank you for your sumptuous contribution at Wembley.
I love arctic monkeys Alex turner can do no wrong in my eyes.
I prefer the earlier stuff just because it’s more my thing but I’m not put off by their change in direction I understand that artists do not want to regurgitate the same stuff over and over for their whole life
My exact same thoughts! Everything u said is exactly how I feel
I do love change and evolution in bands, but the monkeys seem so gutless to me now.
Thanks for playing vibration festival Justin,
I know it’s only a little gig for you guys but it was just across the road for us and it was like seeing one of your favourite bands play in your garden,
The bit during get your hands off my woman when you asked people to lift their kids up to sing along with you was hilarious, not just the woman who lifted her child up and did that three step forwards and fall flat on your face thing, the kid was laughing so no harm done, so thanks again and Nae Bothir
I'm a fan of urs for life now. Ty. 🖤
What a beautiful beautiful tune.
Hot tub!
@@ericbuzzard2041 Beato!
What a noight I had watching them!
They've been my favorite band for like 5 days straight!

Rock on 🤘🏻
