I am very impressed on the technical details you offer and the simplicity of your teachings. These videos are helping many skaters to get a great visual on the "science" of skating and how to remain secured on the ice. Thank you both for devoting your time to helping other skaters enjoy this passionate sport!
This is a great video. I love all of your videos. I like the fact that the move is repeated continuously in this video, while the verbal instruction and on-screen visual aids move from one aspect of the move to the next. I think a lot of tutorial videos are not produced with the mindset of novice skaters in mind. But your videos are exceptions. Thank you.
I did not understand deep edges when I first saw this video, but now I think it's time to work on them. Thank you for uploading awesome tutorials on skating basics!
Hi guys, I just discovered these videos and I love them. Thank you for filming so many repetitions so that we can really see and understand the action. It’s priceless and I’m grateful for your time and effort with these. I also really appreciate your detailed explanations and the weight distribution images you show. I’m very excited to be able to learn from you both!
Your videos are just the best! It's years I come back to your videos when I feel that I want to understand something better and improve. So much appreciation to you guys, thanks so much for putting this channel together :)
Honestly, thank you so much. I was completely panicking yesterday as I had a horrible skate, and I have a competition next week. Due to my college timetable, I cannot get to the rink during the week, so this is extremely helpful, since my mind works very well on physics naturally. I'm so glad I found this channel, you have a new subscriber, all the way from South Africa.
What a lovely video!!! You guys are so clear with your explanations and capture excellent images!!! Can’t wait to practice my outside edges!!! Thank you!!
You two makes the best videos and I watch them all the time and very helpful to my skating I would like to see the deep inside edges forward and backward as well
+Yvonne DePre Thank you Yvonne! We are working on getting all for directions (deep inside, outside, forward, and backward) look for them in the coming weeks!
I've played hockey for 25+ years & I pride myself on my skating ability, due almost entirely to a personal study of skating technique for years. There is a ton of "magical" thinking from hockey coaches, esp. skating coaches, about how someone becomes an elite skater. So these videos, with clear technique demonstrations & even foot pressure mapping, are a god-send. P.S. It's also unbelievably frustrating to see videos like this, as I can't help but think: "What was the REAL ceiling of my ability as a hockey player, if someone had shown me how to correct the small (but MASSIVELY impactful) deficiencies in my skating technique?" It really angers me how many people gave me BS advice & direction, only to have me spend years failing to solve my problem & drifting further from my end goal.
Thank you. I just stumbled on your channel by accident and subscribed. I'm a lifelong adult skater that's just wishing to challenge/push myself to learn a little more each time. This gives me great ideas of what and HOW to work on something. This segment on deep edges is very useful and I will definitely make my way through the rest of your channel. Thanks.
Wow great explanations! I'm a hockey player and I need to work on those. Even if my power skating coach is a figure skater, I never had the idea of searching on a figure skating channel duh!! Thanks for the great video.
Hi everyone! We love hearing from you, so leave a comment about what you though and what you want to see. We'll try to get to your requests and give you a shout out in the new videos. If you enjoyed the video we, hope you share it with your friends!!
This is really helpful. I’m currently struggling with my scratch spin because I can’t get a deep enough edge for the entry. This causes me to force the turn and the spin fails 😏
I really started to work on my edges, I wouldn't call them deep yet, today. My right leg is still so wobbly (is that correct?) and unsafe. I'm left handed, my left side is everytime my better. But I won't give up, keep going, keep trying and, being back on the ice after 20 yrs, I will manage this 👍 It's amazing to skate again! Your tutorials are so helpful for me, thank you for your work!
+GUSADOLFO251 Thank you! Skating through your hips means you thrust forward through your hips instead of leaning forward and thrusting through your shoulders. You can lean, just don't let your shoulders go far ahead of your hips.
Thank you for the valuable advice, very helpful! I can't wait to try deep edges on ice! Ice rinks in Warsaw are currently out of season, that's why I'm skating in Snow Whites inline skates, unfortunately deep edges are impossible on wheels.
Hello! I'm an aspiring figure skater and wish to progress into advances spins and hopefully jumps at some point. I was wondering, what skates do you own? And are there any specific brands or types that you would recommend for a person on my level? I'd love to hear a response form you soon. Thank you for posting such great and helpful content!
just started hockey, and when they talk about edge turns they don't really say explain what your feet should be doing, so i go on hear to look at the foot pressure graphics to better visualize what my feet should be trying to do, thank you !
This has been my problem. I noticed I am on the flat, so I am struggling with some of my basic 3 elements. Finding the body placement over the edge is going to take some time.
Yep, though if our skates feel dull, we can still skate comfortably on them by pressing into the edges. One time, I (Oleg) had to teach on the weekend and I forgot to bring by skates, so I had to skate the dances with my student in rental skates. Even though they we're very dull, I was able to press into the edge and do it just fine. Though I wouldn't recommend it LOL.

Thanks Fred!! Actually, a lot of this came about from input from our audience :-D you guys!
I can’t thank you enough for your generosity in teaching this precision sport.
I did not understand deep edges when I first saw this video, but now I think it's time to work on them. Thank you for uploading awesome tutorials on skating basics!
I really improved significantly in the past half year after watching your videos. Really thankful to you. You guys are like angels
I’m so happy to show ice dancers🔖. Thank you so much and send you my Heart 🎈❤ From France

Really the most underrated skating skill. Thank so much for this video ❤

Thank you so much for this video, especially the pressure diagram

This is a great video. Going to try this tomorrow! I've been doing shallow lobes on one foot for ages and ages, I need to get those edges deeper :)

Your videos have made me a much better skater. When you say "skate through your hips," what do you mean?

+Marta Pietkiewicz Thanks Marta! You could practice the leans and foot placement off ice, just make sure you have something sturdy to hold onto.
@@kseniyaOleg How to practice that off ice? Any tips?

Getting these nailed has got to be the key to spin entries..

What are off ice exercises for spins? Or pre requisite to achieve spins
Amazing
thanks! also what skates does she use?
don't forget to get you states sharpened regularly

One skate pro told me, "if you want to learn how to really skate well, find a dance coach!" 😊
I am taking skating lesson but the trainer never explain inside and outside edges and when or how to use them.

Oleg you fell! I dont believe it.
LOL I fall probably once a day or so. I had a coach that once told me "if you're not falling, you're not trying hard enough."
