Hey Zwiggo thanks! So much of this playthrough was blind besides some major boss fights so plenty of small time grunts and commanders really had potential to catch me off guard! Glad you enjoyed, Im a fan of your stuff!
Something to note about the Bonsly and Munchlax in the original games, these were "leaks" for what were to come in Gen 4. It felt so special playing a gen 3 game and seeing gen 4 Pokemon before any game releases.
I was always curious about the + symbol on the Shadow Pokémon's level. It sucks to have to find that out after losing a good Pokémon though... Great playthrough overall.
Great video. These are my fav Pokémon games. Would love to see this challenge again, no “flukes”, armed with all the knowledge you have now, AND, you get to flip the coin every time you encounter the Pokémon, instead of only the first time. I think it would make it more exciting to re-encounter the same Pokémon. Although I don’t blame you if you’re not ready to go back to this game for awhile hahaha.
0:34 the less than stellar pokemon selection is one of my favorite things about it. You have to play with pokemon you usually wouldn't making certain pokemon such as Misdreavus be really good.

This vid is a real treat. A whole movie of my favorite hack Edit: you should try to mention any relevant changes to stats/abilities as you introduce pokemon for hacks that make these changes. Just a suggestion!
Long comment. I did a nuzlocke of this over a year ago. I didnt do the flip coin method, I didn't use heal items in battle, I never obsessively played bingo battle to get the benefits of the Poke coupon items, I allowed myself to capture all the pokemon to use, and I didn't use the level cap for bosses, which I still fairly didn't over train my pokemon. My biggest hiccup was using a timer to beat the game before it runs out. That made me feel pressured to do alot of things within that time limit. I don't remember what the time was, but it was enough to get on my nerves alot. I didnt even make it passed the first room of the cipher key lair, and that was when I gave up. After watching this really entertaining yet stressful video, it does inspire me to do this nuzlocke again someday. Also my favorite part was the ending where you've figured out that Greevil does THREE battles within one go. That made me scream because if I have somehow managed to scraped my way to get to Greevil, I would have lost it.
Wow great video Heff! Congrats on finishing this Nuzlocke on the first run, and making a great video out of all those VODs. Your streams have been real fun to watch and I’m especially looking forward to future edited content like this.
tbh I genuinely feel like the endgame of this hack is TERRIBLY balanced. In hacks like emerald kaizo, its unfair, but in a balanced way. This is just unfair
I would like to take a moment to point out that you had a Wish Chansey, two Intimidate mons, Eviolite, and Reflect and were complaining that you couldn't handle special attackers. That Chansey should have been undying in the same vein as a Gen 1 Chansey. And that's assuming you can't get Curse on it somehow.
This and the Colliseum run have been my first time seeing your content and let me say I absolutely loved it. Gonna download the rom for XG this week and get to playing (with no coin of course). Great stuff. Subbed.
That was an amazing journey i saw throught the end. I'm kinda actually sorry for not telling you about the 13v6, i guess the idea of the surprise for content went to my head. But yeah, i myself still need to Nuzlocked it until the end, my 3rd real run hasn't start, but im confident that with some mercy from the coin, i can fully beat Greevil. Thanks for the fun Heff! Hope to see more PokeNuz Runs in the future!
Okay, that Manectric thing was super upsetting, but the Gengar having a Focus Sash was pure bull. That was in no way "just harder", but to stuff as much salt into the wound as possible.
I thank you for giving me background noise as I hunted a shiny Rufflet. I had 2 minutes left on the day before the mass outbreak dispersed and got it with only 1 remaining.
I believe xg or vanilla battle ai is based on ruby trainer battle ai where if you do an action first, the cpu will make their action based on the end result of your action (aka the golduck knew you were swapping to mence and thus went for ice beam as well as the enemy mence using flamethrower on the swapped in magneton)
I’d like to offer a suggestion about Pokémon captures in the GameCube games (specifically XD, but I found it worked in colo as well); capture groups. Since the games really want you to catch shadow Pokémon (especially XD with the purification chamber), I allowed myself in my recent nuzlocke of Colosseum to catch every Pokémon, but I’m only allowed to use one Pokémon per ‘capture group’ (the rules are the same as level caps, with each group being in a gauntlet leading up to the boss). I’d spin a wheel and depending on what the wheel landed on, that was the Pokémon I used. It was actually really fun, since I wound up landing on a Hitmontop with some insane IVs that allowed it to just mow through a lot of battles with Earthquake and brick break (and having intimidate to switch in and out on some fights was a godsend). It was a really enjoyable way to both play the games in a way that flipping a coin to determine if you catch the encounter doesn’t seem to be.
Just watched the collosuem and this one back to back and holy shit man this makes blaze black 2 redux look tame and fucking struggle in that game normally
Just gonna say it now, at not even a minute into the video, the take of "Colosseum was a worse game than XD" (I know that's not exactly what you said, but it boils down to that) is the hottest take I've ever heard. I've played both, multiple times, and Colosseum's rougher tone, more Adult campaign, and frankly more serious and well put together story, felt like a Pokémon Game I'd love to see more of, and XD just... didn't. The level curve felt appropriate to me. We're starting as a Trainer who'd already been doing work out in the world, so his Pokémon are of course, already evolved and decently leveled. And if you go to hunt for Shadow Pokemon, and stick to a consistent Team, the curve evens out the whole way. And heck, some great TM's are locked behind the Colosseums anyway, which are a great place to get XP and Money. Heck, the climactic battle of Mt. Battle is so much fun, I'd repeatedly run through the whole thing start-to-finish in the campaign. In summary, while only a brief part of a video (that I do intend to watch to completion), I feel like I did need to comment on this. I never had a problem with anything about this game. I will agree I wish the story was longer, but more *because* of the differences and contrasts between this game and the rest of Pokémon.
I just found this coincidence funny, as soon as you accidentally clicked "yes" on Willy's challenge, I immediately cut to a commercial starting with an ESRB rating with just the words "blood and violence", followed by a survival horror game commercial. It almost felt like something another UA-camr would edit in on purpose.
This whole run started so good and I was thinking "You burnt your luck early". Oh GOD! Look up "Tenacious" in a dictionary and there's no definition, just a picture of you! Like damn, there were some truly demoralizing parts in this run, like 1:28:29! This was a completely insane run!😰
Writing this to make a guess about Cacturne dilema before watching your post research bit. Trainer Mons have static/set IVs, but once caught the stats randomize as if was a caught Pokemon. That's my guess
I literally ALWAYS chose Vaporeon as my eeveelution as a kid. I always thought it had the coolest design. And I never wanted to choose Espeon and Umbreon since they were in the previous game.
The reason why Colosseum doesn't have the best Pokemon is because it was designed to provide Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire with those you can't catch within those games which is also why FireRed and LeafGreen were made.
I watched this video a while back and I finally decided to do a nuzlocke myself and if I remember correctly you mentioned Documents I was wondering where you got those? I didnt find any on the Website for the Patch. But then again I could be as blind as a bat..
This is such a difficult run. I’m using a system where I roll a random number for each area to decide which mon I catch. I’m on my 5th run currently and this is seeming like my best one
