  • In this video I make a box to enclose an air compressor as they are very loud. All made from free materials that were otherwise going into landfill. Just some screws needed. It works well, noise is significantly reduced.
    I understand some people might worry about it overheating, me too, but for most of the time the compressor will be used for a few seconds at a time. If I do something that means the compressor will be on a lot like painting or something, I can just take off the lid to give it more airflow for cooling.

    Very good and thoroughly explained video! But I would go for crossflow airvents and a tad bigger with active airvents (12v PC fans).
    Very good results!
    Thanks for this good video, beter than 99% of what's online, this deserves more love! ❤

      Ive got a 230v fan that is the same size as a pc fan. And was thinking of wiring it up to the pressure switch so it comes on when the compressor kicks in. One day. It doesn't get much use, most I use it for is to pump up car tyres currently.

    Do you think one of these could be made out of cardboard box or would that be a fire hazard?

    • @rattech
      @rattech  3 місяці тому +2

      Fire hazard for sure as compressors get quite hot and wouldn't do much for sound deadening

      @@rattech I’m getting ready to make one myself and was wondering is Mdf more sound absorbent than plywood? I notice everyone uses them for subwoofers etc.

      @@Dnasty1 not sure mate but thick plywood is way more expensive, that's why people use mdf. I've made Subwoofer boxes from both and didn't notice a difference.

      Yea I saw some presanded plywood at home depot on sale actually less than mdf so if it looks good i'll probably grab that. With mdf do you predrill holes or did you just drill all the screws straight in?@@rattech

      @@Dnasty1 I always predrill otherwise you risk splitting the board.
