Some will. They were meant to be the spares for the city circle fleet but yarra trams successfully cut them down. So these probably aren’t needed. People forget that these trams belong to you and I but yarra trams is allowed to cut their use and send them to pasture and museums when they should be retained
Drove past there again today, noticed the tram tracks going in. North Fitzroy is a kind of special place for a guy from Burnley as one of my first girlfriends lived there.
I am proud to be a Bendigo born person Bendigo trams company will be restoring those trams at all times back to their original glory those trams will be
I live 180 metres away and I had no idea that was happening. I assumed the trams went years ago when they lifted the connecting track. In any case the area in front of the tram shed has been used as part of the bus depot for ages.
@@Schony747is the building heritage listed? I assume they will utilise the space to help electrify the depot. Will minimalise the loss of bus parking due to the chargers
@@mrK163 The whole bus depot area is a bit squalid, including the run down tram shed that isn't worth preserving. It's a huge area where land sells for nearly $10,000 per square metre, so *IF* it is possible to relocate bus operations to the outer suburbs, expect a major development to replace the bus depot.
😂😂I was thinking the same! Out there working during the day “emissions-free”… only to be charged overnight from coal/gas energy. This is the stupidity of today.
@@calibre_au6183 Not sure what they're going to do with the old tram depot now as the trams that were stored in there are now transferred to Bendigo and Ballarat.
Beautiful W class, the former lifeblood of Melbourne. I hope they are going to be well cared for and kept safe. ❤
Kept safe in storage at Bendigo and Ballarat

Special for all the right reasons
Watching the comings and goings of this depot from the wonderful Treat of France cafe across the road makes for a great Saturday outing.
It was a favourite of tram drivers when we used to run the City Circle from North Fitzroy

Bendigo has done an ok job. I wouldn’t say a great job
Yes mate. Bendigo does a pretty good job!
Thanks for putting this up. Great clip mate.
Thankyou mate
Good to see well preserved trams with no tags on them.
Obviously the bus company needs the space now.
That's what I'm hearing but you can never be too sure on these things.
Yarra Trams will be glad to have them far away
roses are red, violets are blue

That's correct. They might as well make better use of the space

The most expensive bus depot land-wise in all Melbourne surely.
I miss working out of nth Fitzroy sometimes. But i also don't miss buses.
You probably miss the people mate
Should put one in Bourke st Mall as tourist information centre
If only there was room
@@Schony747 They could replace the one they have now with a tram .
That white kenworth now has a 16 speed gearbox after the drive smashed two gears. Fkn twist tops
Obviously not a good way to drive a truck then!
Good Ol Lou Arthur and his Prajeets.
Loving the emissions-free crane.

Great video. Thanks for sharing
Thanks!
Guess it's the end of an era for the depot.
When they refurbished Preston they kept working Trams there
@Low760 Ah I see.
Hope they don't make even more apartments !

@@calibre_au6183 We badly need more apartments. People who don't want more apartments built are part of the housing problem.
Thought it would be Lou Arthur doing the lifting & carrying. Worked with them often a while back.
Loy Arthur did some of the work
Cool tram video!😊
Thanks!
So will Yarra trams take out the Trams from storage and operate them?
Taken from North Fitzroy as the site is being used for another purpose. I have no idea what the use will be. Trams are going into long term storage
I hope they are going to the preservation groups at Bendigo and Ballarat?
Correct mate. Undrrcover Storage in Bendigo and Ballarat.
Awesome Video
Thanks mate
How much to buy one ;)
I think Victrack were giving them away at one point. Buyer paid for transportation
Do you know where any of these trams went?
Ballarat and Bendigo mate
@@Schony747 thank god they are being preserved
Nice raiway
Yes it is mate. It won't see trams again unfortunately
Is that Ridgie's old tram Andrew?
No, her new one.....
What would one of those old trams weigh?
Around 17 tonnes mate
@@Schony747 Cheers, lighter than i thought.
What will they do with them
They are going into storage at Ballarat and Bendigo for future use
Malcolm - where are you!
Signing autographs? 😆😆
End of an era.
Yes indeed. City Circle could still have run out of there.
This tram is working for a long long time boah
Yes mate and the future is ensured as it goes into storage
