This week Schony747 features the high tech Yarra Trams Survey Tram here in Melbourne. Every 6 months the tram runs around at night collecting valuable track, overhead and platform data which is then used to prioritise repairs and upgrades across the worlds biggest operational tram network. B2 2096 tram is always used. The tram is transformed from a regular tram carrying passengers to a high tech office with a few million dollars worth of equipment on board. It's really cool stuff and I hope you enjoy it.
Have a great week - Brenden S.

Yarra Trams should give 2096 a cool yellow and black colour scheme so it looks like a real maintenance vehicle. And it will also look cool on a B Class too.
I'm sure PTV would have something to say about that. Matching uniforms would be cool.as well
1:42 *WHAT?* B2 not wearing pyjamas and "coming down the stairs" with B1? LOL😁
Caught with it's pants down 😃😃
@@Schony747 Not an a-peel-ing sight! LOL 😁
@@neilforbes416 But if it was 2B or not 2B whould that be the question.
@@Mediawatcher2023 But what was the answer? LOL🤔
@@neilforbes416 Shakespeare must have forgotten.
This seems pretty cool and something that would be very useful. And it's great to see a tram video again. It feels like it's been ages. Would love more tram content again please.
Yes I know. People want more tram content. I need to get out and film more.
@@Schony747 Well I look forward to seeing what you have in store. I always love your videos.
A Survey "Spy" tram? Seeing the driver at the controls (1:00) immediately blows away my mind's view of the driver wearing a black coat and a black Trilby hat and acting furtively at the controls! LOL😁
Sorry! I should have dressed properly.
@@Schony747 LOL😄
@@neilforbes416 You really need to Get Smart(er) next time with that one liner
Why not just make it permanent and run it once week to detect the defects before there's another whoopsie-daisy during rush hour?
The franchise agreement asks for every 6 months. In it's current form, it's impractical to have a permanent setup but that may change in the next franchise
Great video and I hope they don’t use 2 trams and if so where is B1🤣
B1 is in pyjamas sleeping 😆😆
That would be a pretty cool run, I imagine.
Cool run but alot goes on behind the scenes to make sure the whole network is completed.
@@Schony747 No doubt.
awesome video
Thanks 😀 😊
So, it basically has a similar function to IEV100
Pretty much I would suspect
Is 2096 permanently set up like this or is it just temporary?
Just Temporary
Oh okay, thanks
It's a temporary setup. It takes around 4 days to set up and a couple of days to dismantle the setup. It's all done at Preston Workshops
First
Thanks 😀
