    Hey Kit, for the 7/0 hook what would you jump up to on the assist cord?

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  11 місяців тому

      depends really because some 7/0 hooks are bigger than others.

      how about the one you had for the video. Also not related but can a SK jig be used for fast jigging? Thanks@@TheFishingKit

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  11 місяців тому

      @@JoshSuman I showed quite a few in the video....you can work almost any jig fast - but some will spin, and that's not what you want them to do. If you can jig it and it wont spin, then you are good to go. Fish don't really like spinning jigs...they dont bite them too often, although it does happen. on the hooks and cord, you can put thicker cord on thinner hooks or thinner cord on thick hooks, there are no guidelines specifically. However, a thick cord on a thin hook will not be beneficial because of the drag it creates - and a thin cord on a thick hook will probably snag the jig more than helping it hook fish., finding the balance is the key.

    What size asist line do you use for these hooks?

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  6 місяців тому

      Depends on the hook Size but usually from 100 to 250lb

    If your jig is 10g jig para standard, what hook size would you use to replace the old hook?

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  11 місяців тому

      Hook sizes depend on manufacturer and model types, an example would be a size 11 owner jf 42

    Boss kit regarding sa slow jigging hooks saan ba nakatapat ang hook? Sa flat part ng jig?

  • @heysogo
    @heysogo Рік тому

    What would your hook choice be (size and number of hooks) for a 4.5”, narrow slow jig at 80gr? I am mostly fishing around 80ft of water with mild current.

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  Рік тому

      What fish are you after and what config assist hook so you use? Whats the width of the jig?

    • @heysogo
      @heysogo Рік тому

      @@TheFishingKit the width of the jig is only half an inch. I’ll be using it mostly for Black Sea bass and flounder in the north east, however I’d like to use it in 80ft of water for bigger species such as snapper and tuna in the gulf by possibly using different hooks

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  Рік тому +1

      @@heysogo half an inch...there are many from owner and vmc that would fit that jig. 80ft is quite shallow for 80g though. 2/0-3/0. but man, I find your jig too heavy for the depth you are fishing in. 24m is 20-40g territory. Unless you are fishing for shallow water AJs and other big fish in the shallows...wouldn't really use that heavy of a jig for that depth.

    • @heysogo
      @heysogo Рік тому

      @@TheFishingKit okay thanks. Yeah I know trust me 80gr sounds really heavy, but I’ve tried a bunch of different sizes and shapes and unfortunately with the current the way it is here sometimes, in order keep vertical contact with the bottom long enough for 1 or 2 pumps it needs to get down quick otherwise your line drifts too far away. And on a head boat it’s also for control, everyone else using bait they require the fisherman to use 8oz lead to avoid tangles… I convinced them to let me fish 80g which as you know is like 2.8-ish oz

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  Рік тому +1

      @@heysogo the problem isn't so much as the jig, it's your line. US spec braid is so thick. For fish like rockfish, even lings, I would probably use PE 1.5 on a ocea calcutta 200 and do really well with 40-60g jigs on PE 0.8. lol

    Good day kabayan! i would like to ask if it's ok to use 1 hook on the head and twin on tail? i'll ne using this for slow jigging. salamat ng madami at more power sa channel mo. napaka-informative!

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  Рік тому

      The purpose of multiple hooks on slow jigging is for the ones that don't grab the mouth to snag the fish. You can opt to put singles on both ends to hook the fish in the mouth. putting less on each end means you diminish the chances of snagging the fish if the other end hooks the fish. If you are ok with this, then by all means do whatever configuration floats your boat.
