  • We have a look around England's old capital city, Winchester, and meet King Alfred.
Keith has an encounter with a cut throat razor, buys some cameras and we learn about chalk rivers.
Thankyou so much for watching, it really does mean a lot to us.

Keith's hair looks fantastic ! I noticed he doesn't have his ear ring on. Love those old buildings.

His hair is improving. I told him you didn't approve a few videos back. We go away on Friday, I think the ear ring will return then. Hope you are well.

Thanks Donny. Keith knew Winchester slightly but I didn't. A lovely place. We really liked it in the cathedral. So much history in one place. You have a lovely weekend. We meet up with Pip in a couple of weeks.

We haven't been to Winchester and didn't realise what an important place it was in the history of this country. I really enjoy your videos as they are a good mix of walking, history and visits to interesting places. It really shows that you enjoy where you get to and you are both very easy to watch and listen to. Thankyou. I will endeavour to comment more regularly as I know it helps your channel.

Thanks. Definitely one to add to your list of places. The Cathedral is worth going in to too. That video is out next week.

We have a collection of instruments and can't play any of them it is one of those one day we will things. Love Pink Floyd so we are envious of you Gilmour guitar. We would love to have recorded more of the guy but we get copyright issues if the UA-cam bots recognise music unfortunately. 😕

It's 1422? but that young man at 3:30 is perhaps googling what to do if a baby is missing from pram!

In the village I was bought up in Shropshire had a butter cross but was a very plain stone and apparently local villages met to exchange and barter goods during the Black Death I guess social distancing in the early days

Sounds like they had it sussed back then. We need to visit Shropshire. It isn't a county that we know.

I remember seeing a chap shaving with a cut throat on a moving train, I tried using one at home but when I got to the chin I couldnt work out which way to angle the blade so it went in the cupboard and never came out!

Great video gentlemen (As usual)! The street fair/market was amazing. Sadly, over here in Montana, our street fairs are rather generic. It's mostly the same vendors roving from one fair to the next. Winchester looks to be a very interesting city. Even the section of downtown that had the typical gentrified shops still maintained a very historical facade. I used to shave with a cut throat razor back in my cowboy days. I had a big blondish red handlebar mustache that I waxed and I would shave with the cut throat. I identified more with late 19th to early 20th century life in the American West back then. I eventually gave it up as my beard started going grey. If my blade wasn't perfectly, wicked sharp, it felt like I was sawing through the grey section. Ouch! Now a days, I just wear a beard since its all grey. Or in my case white. Love the cliff hanger! Till next Friday, have a great weekend and week! Oh, we've woke up to small amounts of snow twice this week, including this morning. Spring in the Rockies! Cheers my friends!

Sadly Micky many of our street markets are the same old, same old, so it was nice to see different things. The city had ao much history, but wait until we get in to the cathedral, not that was just mind blowing. We aren't deeply religious people but that place WOW!
Heading in to two weekends of bank holidays from next Friday so we a ten day trip ahead of us. Can't wait. Hoping for some sunshine, apparently we are supposed to be getting a mini heatwave.🤞
The cowboy life sounds like an amazing life, neither of us would trust ourselves with a cutthroat though😲

@@CampervanTales I am looking forward to the next installment of Winchester. Hope you holiday is sunny and warm. We’ll go from a sunny and warm 70*F day to 20+*F and snow the next. …Not going to lie, the cowboy life was amazing. I lived a life that has been mostly forgotten. Something about living up in the mountains, working my horses, doctoring cattle and not seeing any signs of “civilization” except for a jet flying high up above every once in awhile, made me feel whole! Which is why I quit using the cut throat. It wanted to make me less whole! Cheers my friends!

      Sounds idyllic

    • @mickylawless1941
      @mickylawless1941 Рік тому +1

@@CampervanTales it was a very idyllic life. For some losing such a lifestyle might be emotionally crippling. But I did a whole lot of internal work after my first divorce. In the process, I was able to do a 180 and shed the cowboy me. A hard persona to shed I might add. A lot of my identity was wrapped up in that cowboy. But I met Nicole and now am just simply me (a dirtbag slacker!). No more cowboy. I still live a very minimalist lifestyle and Nicole and I boondock up in the mountains (for our climbing adventures) as much as possible. So I've switched from one idyllic life into another one. I am extremely lucky.
