@@sirwalkboy Thats one game compared to multiple developers coming out saying the Xbox series s is holding them back, doesn't matter what they release in the end, the initial building the game up then optimisation is slowed down but a less powerful console. Starfield being 30 is due to game design choices. The game can optimize for 60 but come at sacrifices past just resolution+graphics. The complex systems like item permanence, procedural generation, ect. is why it optimizes 30, but in terms of just graphical fidelity alone it could hit 60

But when comparing the series S with either the series X or Ps5 versions of a game the performance and graphics can usually be worse, not terrible by any means but definitely a downgrade as the system has less power. With this in mind I can see where devs have a harder time developing for this console.

I do wonder how it will be in 2-5 years? I personally think Microsoft should of just did what Sony did and make their consoles the same power. Xbox pretty much has two different consoles out for new gen and the S has delayed Baldur's Gate for us Xbox players. I love xbox and I have the series X and ive been gaming since the nes launched and this new gen doesn't have many true new gen games on Xbox. Most of my games are also on Xbox one also. Sucks we are way behind Sony when it comes to true new gen games and we have to wait for games like Stray and Baldurs Gaye and we don't even get Final Fantasy 16 or FF7 remake😢😢. I have faith in Microsoft though and I do think they will solve that problem especially with all the game companies they've been purchasing. I hope Starfield is a great game cause if it fails then that will be a huge blow to Xbox. Also if your trying to decide between the series S or the X then you should definitely get the series X no doubt about it. Alot more memory and future proof for the next 5-7 years.
Xbox 360 competed very successfully with PS3 even though PS2 was the most popular console ever. It was 100 dollars cheaper. Then PS4 came out 100 dollars cheaper and wiped the floor with Xbox one. I think Microsoft took away the idea that the key to success in the console market is being the lowest price. As far as games go, I think Sony's long established foothold in Hollywood translated into expertise in managing studios and IP and with the vagaries of handling exclusivity deals with independent publishers.
That is not developers fault In some interview even phil spencer said he already sent microsoft own enginer to help baldur's developer but still failed get split screen Even microsoft first party like halo infinite's split screen has been cancelled and newer forza games never get split screen features. A few years ago I wanted to buy a PS5 but couldn't get my hands on one, so I bought the Series s and really enjoyed playing on it. But I have to say that since I got the PS5 I haven't played the series S at all
I think no. Texture and geometry easy to scale down for weak GPUs and small amounts of RAM, but CPU and SSD not. Because of that, the Series S has the same CPU and SSD speeds.
Baldur's Gate 3 would like to have a word. Larian Studios had to delay the game's release on Xbox because they couldn't get split screen to work well. But now, after negotiating with Microsoft, they're finally releasing the game, but without split screen on Series S. Don't get me wrong, the Xbox Series S is a very nice console. Where is the logic in that? Also red dead 2 graphics are better than anything available so far and works perfectly on previous generation like 🤨 Where is the logic?
No offense but I don't think you understand how these games work. Series S is indeed a decent console, it's just that the CPU is too weak to handle too many assets on the screen. And Atlas Fallen is mostly an empty game, whereas starfield is (looking by the gameplay trailer) filled with assets and many other cpu intensive stuff which is probably why it's locked at 30fps.. But ofc they should make it run at 60fps for series X though
You are right but for the wrong reason, the cpu is the same (only clocked 200 mhz lower but thats no problem). Its the memory, thats the problem, not only the amount but also the speed of the memory.
What’s one have to do with the other. You said all of that to say what? You don’t know how it works because if you did you wouldn’t have made this comment. The S/S isn’t weak to the point that the system cannot perform 30 frames. It takes time to develop for the system, that goes for every system. Look at BG3 for ps5, it’s at 60 frames but it keeps dropping. Poorly optimized.
what point is this video even making? that the series s doesn't hold back game development because of one cherrypicked game that runs at 60fps? baldurs gate 3 (and likely others in the future) demonstrate otherwise
The thought process is instead of utilizing the series x power, they have to accommodate the series s which is scaling down everything, cpu, ram etc. thats why most of the developers says the same thing over and over. Same issue as why Horizon Forbidden West DLC dropped ps4 and focused solely on ps5. As to why cyberpunk phantom liberty only focused PS5, its the same thought process. Its like creating another game just for that console.
Yes it is the problem, developers are saying when they wanna make a next gen game, Xbox says it has to be able to run on series S. Holds back next gen, making it harder for developers to acc make next gen experiences. This in turn makes development longer to optimise it for a less powerful console.
I love my series S. I be smacking shit on Warzone. All you need is a good WiFi connection, and a TV/monitor that doesn’t make your actions feel sluggish & it’s on! For $300, this thing is a beast! I’ve never had a problem with my S. The only thing I would change about it is the storage
The fact that you could leave things on certain planets and then come back and find the things exactly where you left it is most likely the reason why SF could not run at sixty firms
Anyone who says it isn’t holding back the generation should look at baldurs gate 3, a game that literaly released on ps5 before Xbox because of development technical issues with making it on the series s according TO the devs
@@madhavic1778 Maybe, maybe not. Don't think it's been confirmed yet. Still doesn't change that fact that either both consoles are bottle necks, or neither are and its really up to devs to design things better.
@madhavic1778 Well, some PCs have it. Not steam deck for example, and it runs like ass on most platforms. They've still said they're likely to bring Split Screen to S just later. The point is, Xbox games (and multiplats) target PC day one as well, so they're generally catering to PCs that will be slower than a Series S anyway. Hence its not going to really be a bottle neck in nearly all cases. Just because it runs one game at 900p doesn't make it a bottleneck...
With optimization, Series s can last to the release of the next generation. Also xbox series consoles' API is Directx 12, which will probably enable us to use FSR3 in many upcoming titles.
Thing is Atlas fallen doesn't have a lot of interactive objects such as things you can pick up physics on all those objects so this is why the developers chose for better optimization for 30 FPS
Youre laptop have 10 gb ram ddr6??with rdna 2 technoligy?? I have a old pc with 8 gb ram, but even the xbox one and ps4 are way more powerfull, i mean what you think?
In fact it is the problem .Starfeild is 30fps due to its engine being from 2015 and outdated. The problem is that there's two different systems that need two different versions to run smoothly and optimized to the best specs for their game and the console its on. Devs at times can be lazy, but when you have to tune and flush out two versions of the same game, one with lesser performance which becomes more noticeable with games that require more from said consoles. Games have been delayed because of this, and its been stated by quite a few studios all the way back on the launch of the two different consoles to even now. To shorten it down. It is a fact that it has and is causing delays for games, more so for those outside of The Microsoft Umbrella or equivalent companies for said games. Get a Series X. Hope the SX has the same specs as the X or its already outdated.
As someone who knows how to actually optimize my own games, to even run on 60 FPS, the Xbox isn’t the problem, it’s modern development teams not wanting to optimize their games, just look at Warzone 2.0…
We shouldnt be blaming the series s, we should be blaming the xbox controller for holding back the entire gaming industry, both ps and nintendo are trying to improve upon their controllers to make them feel more immersive while the xbox controller just vibrates, the ps2 controller had better vibrations than that bruh
Atleast it has quad vibration motors and hal-effect triggers Meanwhile Nintendos vibration is piss poor, the Lite doesn't even have vibration and the OEM Joycons and Lite console use digital input triggers that have absolutely 0 range they work no different than face buttons
Developers should spend the time to optimize their games. There are great games playing well on Series S, Steam deck and Switch... But when Devs are crunched games will run poorly even on PS5s
own both of them and Wolfenstein youngblood runs a solid 60fps on the series s the difference between s and x is rendering distance and just the overall rendering smoothness
@@orcuser ever made a bit of a long shot but the worse one in the series i would say ..you say worse but go look at gfx of youngblood to starfield aint much different lol 😆
It’s strange there’s a lot of games that have not been optimized with higher frames. I feel like games have an issue running at higher frames causing them to break. I’m really a frame freak. And I’d prefer frames over graphics. Since I play competitive we usually drop all our graphics to be able to receive the best latency and the best response when it comes to quick scoping the kid before he even sees me , I feel like developers. Save themselves from people complaining about bugs and issues when the characters run or they jump over obstacles , I feel like some engines bug out when more frames are added and that’s why some games that are beautiful are capped at 30 fps sometimes , even doe 60fpa should be the standard. Since it looks really nice to the eye

There are situations in which Series S is affecting developers. Baldur's Gate 3 developer had to receive authorization to not include 2 player co-op in the Series S since per Microsoft mandate, you can't release two different games between S and X
Project managers of devs are the one to make the decision, ultimately it saves cost just to Lower other things from pc perspective than optimize on lower console.
Microsoft & Nintendo make secret collaboration since Covid 2020. Microsoft created the Xbox Series S specifically to support a coming Nintendo Switch 2 next year. They already planned years in advance ❤❤❤
when people forget about games have their own settings and usually the devs set it to mid-high on next gen consoles (sadly with dynamic resolution so there is no native 4k). On series s they might just lower res or a bit lower graphics settings to save some performance but that doesn't mean the Series S holding back the next gen consoles. Devs literally giving us not finished game, lack of optiminazion (even on console)
Please can we all start asking for 40fps minimums from our games? It's only in the 90s that games started giving anything less than 60 (or some cases 50 depending on region). I'm happy to stick to lower resolutions if a system can't handle them. Inconsistent framerates are so jarring and it kills immersion.

X and S sound extremely similar in English. Might as well call it Xbox B and Xbox V, or Xbox C and Xbox Z, or Xbox D and Xbox T.
The language is full of similar sounding letters, why would they choose them for their consoles?
Not to mention most people are confused about the difference between Xbox One X and Xbox Series X. And why was it ever called Xbox One when it was actually Xbox 3?

@@sirwalkboy Thats one game compared to multiple developers coming out saying the Xbox series s is holding them back, doesn't matter what they release in the end, the initial building the game up then optimisation is slowed down but a less powerful console. This leads to longer dev time to figure out problems, features can be cut. To make a game run a nice 60fps on series X compared to series S is difficult, that can make the series S limited to only 30 FPS. But internally, that ramps alot of coding needed for that 30fps to be clean as possible. Playstation knew what they was doing sticking to one model.
@@oblivious0093 you can argue it slows down dev time but holding back next gen as a whole? also name these developers that are saying xbox series s is holding back next gen because i guarantee you they arent putting out games that push boundaries with this hardware, just games that probably look too pretty to run on ps4 or whatever, coz last i checked the studios capable of next gen experiences werent bitching about series s. i aint no developer myself but if this isnt enough to tell you the devs bitching about the series s are lazy or have a skill issue idk what is. larian is the closest you can come to that with BG3's complexity or whatever and again they only ended up cutting an outdated, underutilized feature out of BG3. boo fuckin hoo.

I have faith in Microsoft though and I do think they will solve that problem especially with all the game companies they've been purchasing. I hope Starfield is a great game cause if it fails then that will be a huge blow to Xbox.

Where is the logic in that? Also red dead 2 graphics are better than anything available so far and works perfectly on previous generation like 🤨 Where is the logic?
Which game?
No offense but I don't think you understand how these games work. Series S is indeed a decent console, it's just that the CPU is too weak to handle too many assets on the screen. And Atlas Fallen is mostly an empty game, whereas starfield is (looking by the gameplay trailer) filled with assets and many other cpu intensive stuff which is probably why it's locked at 30fps.. But ofc they should make it run at 60fps for series X though
They both have almost the same cpu. The difference is ram and gpu
You are 100 % right.
Series S is a best, this console is very good, the devs is lazy
You're wrong.
i studied game dev in college and I would rather give the player a consistent experience rather than jittery mess

Because Atlas Fallen looks 2018 game. This is why console can handle the 60 fps

So you paid money to run at 30fps you might as well have just gotten the switch out this point
Lies of P at 30 fps looks amazing... I have the series X but for some reason i love that game at 30 fps ..
This game any good? It looks like its up my alley.

Planning on getting a series s when starfield has been out for a few months
There are situations in which Series S is affecting developers. Baldur's Gate 3 developer had to receive authorization to not include 2 player co-op in the Series S since per Microsoft mandate, you can't release two different games between S and X
Which is the worst mandate ever as that mandate is like shooting yourself in the foot
Project managers of devs are the one to make the decision, ultimately it saves cost just to Lower other things from pc perspective than optimize on lower console.

Bro believes a conspiracy theory
How is your channel isn't having million subscribers?
when people forget about games have their own settings and usually the devs set it to mid-high on next gen consoles (sadly with dynamic resolution so there is no native 4k).
