gunpowder tea is strong by itself. this tea tends to give a thick liquor and a sharp aroma that taste very green with a touch of earthy bitterness. normally, when you prepare gunpowder tea, you must "wash" your leaves by pouring one cup of hot water and discard it. then pour water again (around 90°c), let it infuse at least 2 min for a lighter taste or 5 minutes, if you're looking for a sharper and robust taste.
Hi, just brewed this tea for the first time. I brewed it at 80 degrees Celsius for 3.5 minutes. It tasted a little too bitter for me. The directions even say to brew it with boiling water, but I have found directions online saying to brew it at a lower temperature. Do you have any recommendations? Nice video by the way.
My instructions say to use boiling water, but use a cup of it at first, which you throw away. But I'm also trying 80' and short brew. Haven't found the right way yet
I would like to know how long this was brewed for, and how hot the water was. Details! :) I used a porcelain cup and metal infuser for mine, and it was delicious.
yes, there was zero information on this video. so, its about 5grams of gunpowder green tea to about 6-8oz of water depending on your likeness. then bring that amount of water to a boil and using a thermometer cut the heat off and wait for the water to fall to about 185 to 175 degrees Fahrenheit. Pour in the 5g of the tea and turn a timer on 1 to 2 minutes. I go 2 minutes. then pour the liquor through a strainer into a serving pot or bowl and then serve. it is not recommended to use a metal ball or similar for this type of tea as it needs room to open the leaves. just do it all in a pot big enough for the amount of water your doing. and always remember traditional Chinese brewing of this tea the first 2 minute brewing cycle is considered the "warming phase" used to warm the cups and serving pot. its not always drank. you then use the same tea from the first round and re brew and then serve to drink, you can re brew this tea almost up to 5 times. I do it 2 or 3 times lets your money go further.
wonderful... what a wonderful profession... how I wished... tea is my passion... I started at age 18 and it's an ongoing and neverending passion... having my cuppa Earl Grey right now... and of course by Twinings, which is the best IMO... I have tasted so many, but keep coming back to Twinings' Earl Grey...
Thanks for your sharing. A nice video, but the original place has a spell mistake on subtitles, the right one is Zhejiang Province in China, which is our gunpowder tea facotry located. Thanks for everyone's interest!
I think you should have a look at how moroccans prepare the gunpowder tea, note moroccans drink tea at least 3 times a day. And the process of preparing it is interesting
As far as I'm aware Green Tea has 3 to 6 times less caffeine in it than coffee. But again this depends on how strong you brew your tea and how many cups you drink. If you compare like for like tea contains more caffeine than coffee but because it takes less tea to make a cup of tea than it does to make a cup of coffee then tea does have less caffeine per cup than coffee. Hope that helps!
Depends on the leaves used for making green tea, l-theanine also smoothens out the impact of caffeine, infusion times are also important, and of course, look at something like gyokuro which actually contains more caffeine then coffee itself, white teas are caffeine rich too but so, soo smooth thanks to their catechin and l-theanine content, so, then again, it all depends on plenty of factors.
Chinese people told steeper ruled. First must to flushed with half boiled water. After that let leavens sit in cup while reboiling pot. When Pot reach boiled grab pot and pour in cup, 2 minutes steeper. If steep too long will bitter. Need to add boiled water to become weak bitter.
must i ask, but where did you get that tea kettle/pot thats clear with the strainer? it looks amazing and im a less observant person. great video and very intriguing on my part
Actually I don't know what to think about this tea. I bought one at the local shop. It surprised me when I opened the tin. I found out there was only half of tin of green tea. Weird. Never happened with other tin teas from Twinings. Besides that I found out it is better to use freshly boiled water than 80C degree water. This tea is quite weak and soft in taste/fragrance. In order to make it more bold you need to use boiled water. Brew for up to 3 minutes. Mine was aromatic yet gentle, no bitter, sour aftertaste. Very refreshing. Good for afternoons to relax. There is common belief that gunpowder teas are rather strong, but this one is rather weak.
Love Twinnings Teas Earl Grey is my favorite. One question: why the huge very loud slurping of the tea? I was brought up that slurping is very rude. Other than that I love yalls tea 😍🥰🥰🥰
I think she was aerating the tea to release more flavour. If you've ever been to a wine tasting, that's how you'd sip wine too. Although in a formal setting nobody slurps wine like that. You take a sip gently without making a noise. But if you're in a vineyard tasting different types of wine of different qualities and tones, you need to slurp it that way to decipher between the different kinds of wine. Otherwise they'd all taste mostly same.
Don't get me wrong. I know this is some kind of lab for tea. But I gotta tell you that as a Chem grad, I find your weighing of a tea serving using a balance scale, and that very awkward tea infuser setup very strange.
the scale is the standardized way of weighing in the industry, and the cup infusion is probably meant for efficiency in testing many teas as fast as possible. after brewing, you are supposed to note the aspect of the leaves too.
@@TTBOn00bKiLleR ISO3103, the cup infusion is also a standard which is called a professional tea tasting set in the UK (standard also tells to infuse the tea for 6 minutes)
You clearly know your stuff, and you work in a lovely office.. But the next time you make a video, brew the tea in glass cup!! (a Bodum double-paned thing) I wanna see those pellets explode.
Are we living in Ancient Greece? I think we have more efficient means of measuring mass these days than a balance scale. A wee bit pretentious, methinks.
All tea contains caffeine, to the best of my knowledge green tea doesn't have a higher content of caffeine than any other tea. The caffeine content of your tea is determined by how much tea you use to make your cup/pot.

@kudlatykid - ok was it because it was boring or too long ? are you into tea?

Pretty good review and display. What is the common mixture amount for water and tea? I just bought some on a whim to see what it tastes like.
How much tea did you use for that cup and for how long did you let it infuse?

This Gunpowder green tea form Twinings is excellent, highly recommend. I like it much more than Twinings English Breakfast tea.

Freshly brewed water? As in boiling hot 100'C ????

gun powder is from steaming process where no fermentation that's why bright in a cup as well as lower in Caffeine
I wish your company sell them in Japan, too.It is not so easy to find decent Chinese green tea, here.
I think I found it. There are probably other brands, but the one I found on amazon is a "LaCafetiere Le Teapot Tea Infuser"

Because it expends.

ISO 3103 required standard in the UK tea testing.
I thought your presentation was quite good!
One of George Washington’s favorite teas!
thank you very much
Tea unites the world :0)
Thanks. Good video. I love tea! :-)
Fresh and green and full of pesticides.

OH GOD THANKS!! thought i got shit as present.. :P its smells like it.
The pouring should be done to camera, it is all a little cack-handed!
Is this tea tested for toxins such as lead ?
My favorite green tea. The taste is too strong. I have the mint flavor.
Georgina, you know tea and you are gorgeous! Will you marry me?
Haha, what a tea expert! She buys huge quantities of tea for that shop but doesn't know how to strain a tea or what equipment to use. What a shame.
I thought the same thing...plus the camera guy has no idea what is he doing. But here is a proper video ua-cam.com/video/smOZrshPRac/v-deo.html
China - how about heavy metals ? It's been shown to be a problem in many areas of China.
Air pollution is more of a concern. Tea absorbs pollutant like a sponge.
The talking in the background makes the video hard to watch, but thx anyway,
Not to mention the annoying sounds of high heels . . .
Let the woman do her job and job writing like a 12 year old girl.
Why on earth would you want to consume gunpowder!!!
That's a poor cup.
