Dave Weckl will always be my favorite drummer , of all time. But Larnell has moved into a spot where I just consume any video with him on it. He's so fun to watch and he does it effortlessly.

👍👍👍🥁🎸🎷 Wow. yes a true love of the music. He is a Tactician, very much fun for me to see the operation. Many of the studio session cats know this. You have to have the chops and be very good at your craft.
The off-centre drumhead shot is kinda like a rim shot? It’s quite tricky to do, but the intended effect is to create a higher-pitched ringing sound. If I remember correctly, the majority of the stick has to be pulled away from the snare so the tip and about 2-3” of stick are left while the stick hits the rim and the drumhead simultaneously… I was never truly able to pull it off in my own playing, but was in admiration of those who could regardless of their ability level haha (though, obviously, it’s always super fun seeing the pros do it without even having to think about it or look at their stick 😂🤯) 👌🏼
Is this what Bill Bruford does as well? I’ve read he adopted a certain way to hit the snare so it would ring loudly due to the fact he had to play along sound “loud amplification”.
