Hello!! Since the gift code is going within a minute of me posting, would you rather for the rest of my 2024 videos I randomly selected someone from the comments versus putting the code in the video? Let me know! 👇
this is a great idea I got here literally when you posted the video and it was gone I've been watching your videos for over 7 years they are very calming and have inspired me to do more art!!
Yup. I think that would actually be more fair, however you would need to have a timelimit too as for between what times you'd ve choosing. Like will it be within 1 hr from posting? 6 hours? 24?
My family and I have painted a lot of wood nutcrackers over the last few years, and we found it easier to carefully take them apart first. With a little bit of wiggling and pulling the arms and drum will come off. A heat gun also helps if the glue is being stubborn. And we just glue them back together when we are done.
Know what is really cool? You can buy one that is already painted.... and paint over it. It completely works the same way as just painting an unpainted one. The plastic blowmold needs to be sanded down a bit anyway to get the paint to stick to it. The wooden one you did turned out beautifully!
An old friend of mine is dating a guy that goes into shops and buys stuff so that he can turn around and post it on Amazon. She couldn’t understand why I absolutely hate that he goes through Goodwill 😤 and independent geek shops and buys huge hauls of stuff just to sell it for like twice the price. His response when I called him out on being a scalper was “if they don’t know what they have, that’s not my fault” 😡 I hate scalpers.
It's not a question of the store not realising what they have. It's a question of not leaving that stuff for the people it's meant for. I despise those people, and I see them all the time at the 2 thrift stores near me. Two or three women go in together, with lists on tablets, and target different areas of the store. They know which days new clothes go out, and just wait for the new racks of clothes to come out. They'll dump most of the rack into a cart, giving them time to go through everything before it even gets hung in the store, and before anyone else has a chance to look through it. Last summer, they emptied a bin of brand new tee-shirts and shorts for kids, to sell online. It infuriates me that the families/people who have little money never have a chance at the nice/new/high-end brand name clothes. There's a similar backlash against people who buy larger sizes in order to remake them into small sized clothing, because the people who need larger sizes say that it's hard enough to find nice things in their size, and now people 6-8 sizes smaller are buying the nice clothes to cut down.
They do but I saw photos of some people using regular modpodge 🥴 and I still wouldn’t trust outdoor modpodge for something that big to be honest, I’d go for something more industrial strength in a spray can 🤣
Been very stressed about some important exams this month, and normally I just lurk to watch your videos but wanted to leave a comment just to say thank you for them, the videos and art you make are very appreciated and chill my panicking brain out! Thank you for great vibes each video ❤
Chloe there is a UA-camr named ChicOnTheCheap that made her own nut cracker last year and I think hers was 4-5ft tall and it really wasn’t that expensive and she made it where he could easily be taken apart and stored away when not in use. You should try it and she made reindeer that were so cute.
The fact that these nut crackers were $40 a couple of years ago 😅 (And I’m not talking about pre-panarama prices, I’m talking literally a couple of years ago. 🤦🏾♀️) They were $40 2 years ago, $80 last year, and this year they added the lights. I guess that warrants such a markup. 😂 And yes Chloe, this assumption is correct 0:49. They started selling the blank ones because the horribly painted ones went viral 3 years ago for being so horrible that people were buying them to repaint them. The fully painted ones were $40 3 years ago. 😂😂😂 FULLY PAINTED $40, blanks also $40 the next year.
I never thought about doing this, but this would be a cool activity for a Christmas gathering. And I think the green pants look great with the red jacket. 👍
I mean, since deviantart went to hell in a handbag, literally noone has been seeing my art (not that /thousands/ were before xD) but I absolutely get the insecurities of doing something and being worried about The Judgement. I think it's part of our perfectionist natures as artists that we want it to be exactly so. I love your videos and artwork, your passion for what you do comes through, and for me, it isn't about being perfect, it's about being authentically you 💜✨🌈 Also, what the heck are those pens? They are absolutely amazing, look at that pigment and opacity!! 😍😲
I absolutely love nutcrackers and painting them is so fun! We actually did that one year my friend host the cookie party and that was what we did as the activity was painting the small six or 8 inch wooden nutcrackers!
aaa, those metallic pens you are using are gorgeous :O I will get them myself too now, I have not done traditional art in years (digital artist here) ♥
Several years ago I was gifted a paint your own nutcracker, and while I love nutcrackers and have a small collection of them, I never got around to painting it so eventually gave it away. If/when I have the time and energy to paint a nutcracker, I could always get a new one.
Hello there! I love this nutcracker, I think he really looks less threatening than "other" ones. Thanks for sharing, you have actually scared away a tiny bit of Christmas anxiety for me this evening! I appreciate that! Thank you! Hugs from Katla Dragon, in Norway
I think Norbert is very cute! And as for doubting yourself as artist we all do it, just don’t let it effect your art. I personally think you are a very fine artist! Love your content/channel.
I always enjoy the videos, learning about something I had no idea existed with it’s own subculture is fascinating. Every single video just has the most perfect music for it and I love it, expertly done
Love the nutcracker Chloe! If I could suggest something, I think it would help your nutcracker look more nutcracker like if you decide to do this again next year! Faux Fur is amazing for adding hair and beards to this guys! I paint them pretty often and even have done commissions for others. The hair REALLY brings the nutcracker together. And for extra things, flat backs gems or charms are great little things to add as well! Tacky glue or hot glue is the best way to glue it!
I have no clue why, but the way you say nutcracker is so satisfying to my American brain 😂. I don't usually comment, but thanks for always being so funny and teaching stuff about art!
...like the company is making more money for not painting it. Great marketing. lmao Also, when I was little, these nutcrackers used to freak me out. All dolls did at that point...I want to blame 'Chucky'. I do like the 'traditional' colors on the nutcracker. Feels more Christmas-y. 🎄
My friend waited and searched A YEAR for these nutcrackers and this year she succeeded and found/got 2 of them she's working on. They got really big last and she was asking all of us if we saw one to get it.
I am not a nutcracker fan, personally. I've always found them on the creepy side and not good creepy but the dedication and work of the fans is amazing.
I've been slowly raising a nutcracker army. I love to paint them, but I don't have any of the really big ones. Just your standard tabletop size and mini ornaments.
stunning ! A few year ago I created nutcracker fabric postcards for family and friends. They were a hit but I was tired of them and accidently started calling them nutcr*pers.
ppl like things that are trendy and also collecting. there are also groups of ppl who are fans of stores like walmart and always look for new or seasonal items. the micheals one looks good
He came out really good. Love the added glitter. ✨ ~ Those people in that group might not be artists but man, crafters are just as good at painting. My brother is a crafter and he's so good at painting. You need to be with the projects they tackle. 😂
I was so hoping you would pull out some paper clay and modify his facial features and adding your dogs at the base ( wedding dogs) ! Maybe next year ? Also , have you ever seen the ones made from clay pots of varied sizes ? That was really a trend about 20ish years ago and were called Toy Soldiers .
I loved the classic design you did. The glitter was a great touch. I’d love to see your interpretation of something more unique done with the Target one (since you have to modify it already). ❤
I enjoyed this video Chloe! Well done this is a grand Nutcracker! I look forward to seeing you create a huge version! Oh! They do make an outside Modpodge now just be sure before you apply, to read the directions! I think a good varnish or Varathene is best for wood products. Cheaper in the long run as well.
I was nervous this guy was gonna be nightmare fuel (because he just looks so skinny/wonky compared to “traditional” style) but WOW he’s SO ADORABLE!! I love himbs 💖👻🖤 you did an excellent job, Chloe!! 🎉🎉🎉
This was such a good video, but then you mixed the glitter together at the end and gloss coated it on a bed of glitter! It made me physically recoil and shudder hahahaha
Pro tip: If you don’t like the creepy teeth style of nutcracker, instead of making the top of the hinged piece his bottom teeth, you can make that his chin beard with some faux fur and give him a proper sized mouth. You can also give him matching fur hair and even put fur on their hats. All of our collectible nutcrackers have looked like this.
I painted a small nutcracker last year for my brother's Christmas as he loves and collects them. I painted it to look like willy Wonka.all the tiny small details were difficult. Unfortunately it got sent back in the mail broken so I'll have to fix it for him this year.
I may be in the minority but I like the base form of the Michaels nutcracker more than the Walmart or Target one. As someone who loves and collects nutcrackers to me part of it being a nutcracker is the lever on the back

If they can paint those nutcrackers like that, then they are artists 🎨
Yes this❤❤

@@Terri_MacKay That is such a hateful way to live... Wow, some people :(
Hm... Now I'm feeling inspired! I may make a vampire nutcracker.
Love that idea. 🧛♂️
I Vant your....plums
YESSS 🧛🏻♀️
Walmart has the mini version that's a table top one for $8
I like it!
IT LOOKS SO GOOD!!!! Oh my goodness, I love it! Your commentary was also cracking me upppppppp 💀💀💀
You should do one too
Chloe they make Outdoor Mod Podge, that is what most of these people were using for their nutcrackers!
They do but I saw photos of some people using regular modpodge 🥴 and I still wouldn’t trust outdoor modpodge for something that big to be honest, I’d go for something more industrial strength in a spray can 🤣
@ChloeRoseArt yeah, I guess it would depend on how much faith you have in Mod Podge.
@@ChloeRoseArtagreed, I’d use an outdoor varnish spray. 😂
@@ChloeRoseArthi CloeRose I really really like you
@@ChloeRoseArtyou’re very pretty
I need to get one of these for my older sister. She's been obsessed with Nutcrackers since we were kids. And now she has a kid of her own :)
Aww this comment made me smile this is so cute💕

officially a painting student now! love watching your videos while getting my own work done for class

If you Google diy large nutcracker there's lots of videos showing how to build them from different materials.
That sounds much more fun

So adorable!! Love the colours you picked !! Thanks for sharing from Canada 🇨🇦

I absolutely agree scalpers are so freaking annoying, i hate that on certain cites you cant call them that bit like thats what they are!! 😂
So cute! I had no idea that there’s a Walmart nutcracker craze currently going on! Love your version! Thanks for sharing! ❤️❤️❤️
There are so many videos of people making their own out of cheap household things and then painting them. One of these days I would like to do so.
Turned out so cute!! Now I want to go paint a nutcracker
