I got my Atari in 79, and it was the best time of my life. I only was able to afford maybe 10 cartridges, but we depended on our friends getting different games, then we would all go to each others' houses and play new games! Great memories!!!
An older video game set was called "fairchild channel F" -for fun. It had some of the same games just less graphics, storage , sound and color. But hey, atari actually competed with them, sadly fairchild lost and is slowly being forgotten.

If I ever getting around to creating a robot, I'm going to program it where the only way it can communicate is through old Atari sounds to display it's emotions.
Those raster colours. I'm so impressed with how the programmers managed to directly manipulate the display signal to show so many vibrant shaded colours on screen. Puts the later 8 bit systems to shame.. and the graphics were so smooth too. I mean how? No one talks about the graphics and display programming on these machines.

I'm 46yrs old, I still remember when my mom brought me this for christmas...my greatest christmas ever, mine came with a free game of COMBAT. This brings back serious memories, trading games with my friends and cousins...my favorite game was PITFALL.

He's actually yellow, but some of the colors got messed up when I uploaded the video to UA-cam. But the guy (Evil Otto) is only in some game variations, so check the manual (or find one online) to see which game variations he's in.

It's great hearing the sounds again from those games from back then. Burned a lot of hours on those games and enjoyed every minute of it. Night Driver use to drive me crazy in trying to avoid crashing into those barriers.

I didn't know they had jungle hunt available. I forgot how bad the sound / graphics are although looking at the specs the maximum is 160 x 192 which surprisingly is about the same as the original gameboy. I still play Space invaders (every few months) on an emulator and still have the Atari 2600 Space invaders cartridge (for copyright reasons)

It was a game where you would advance through a pyramid, through rooms. In a room things would attack you, room was like a labyrinth, it had walls and treasure boxes that would open, doors that would roll open and you would have to collect (some things) and move forward through exit door. By memory graphics was incredibly nice and the screen would slide - was not fixed. (and it was not Lost Tomb game). To this day I'm trying to find which game (and system) it was, so I could find an emulator ... but I could not find this game so far. Anyone has any idea?
I owned an Atari 2600 when I was a kid. I still enjoy playing some of the games on the Stella emulator, so much so, that I am thinking about purchasing another Atari 2600. It's nice to have the modern consoles, but nothing beats going back to the good old days. Bring back the 80's when life was easy and good lol.

No. This was recorded from a 2600 modified to use composite output instead of RF, so you're likely not going to find better quality from actual Atari 2600 hardware. Any videos that look better are most likely recorded from an emulator.

Barnstormer and some of those kinds of games would send you a patch if you sent them a photograph of the screen showing a sufficiently high score.
