I got my Atari in 79, and it was the best time of my life. I only was able to afford maybe 10 cartridges, but we depended on our friends getting different games, then we would all go to each others' houses and play new games! Great memories!!!

Those raster colours. I'm so impressed with how the programmers managed to directly manipulate the display signal to show so many vibrant shaded colours on screen. Puts the later 8 bit systems to shame.. and the graphics were so smooth too. I mean how?
No one talks about the graphics and display programming on these machines.

Amazing video. So many games on here I used to play. Solaris was my favorite, I used to go deep on that. Its weird, I can't explain how hearing the noises, seeing the games actually make me feel, it's so long ago since I played it, I was so young but its kinda almost tapped back into that child mind. Its eery! Its a mix of nostalgia and something else I can't put my finger on or explain. Weird but thank you for uploading this

it seems some idiots are trying to compare a 40 year old system with a current one. what kind of shitty IQ you guys have?. it was made in the 70s. we should be thankful for it because it is simply the grand daddy of home consoles and the system that defined them. it is remarkable that there are countless people still playing them. this only tells how awesome the atari 2600 is. also. you got to give them credit for their creativity. they made so much of what they had.

This brings back memories. Space Invaders was my favourite. Of course back in the day I could clock it but now my reactions aren't as good. It is like I learned when they were going to bomb back then. I also had laser blast (almost played itself), Stampede (terrible game) and a few others I can't remember (about 10 games all up - I bought the Atari 2600 and games (except 1 game) all by myself.
I didn't know they had jungle hunt available.
I forgot how bad the sound / graphics are although looking at the specs the maximum is 160 x 192 which surprisingly is about the same as the original gameboy.
I still play Space invaders (every few months) on an emulator and still have the Atari 2600 Space invaders cartridge (for copyright reasons)

Somewhere around 1984/85 (maybe even later) I think they had an arcade game in a coffeshop that we as kids would go watch after school (bigger boys would play, we smaller ones would just watch).
It was a game where you would advance through a pyramid, through rooms. In a room things would attack you, room was like a labyrinth, it had walls and treasure boxes that would open, doors that would roll open and you would have to collect (some things) and move forward through exit door. By memory graphics was incredibly nice and the screen would slide - was not fixed. (and it was not Lost Tomb game).
To this day I'm trying to find which game (and system) it was, so I could find an emulator ... but I could not find this game so far.
    Anyone has any idea?

Word Zapper starts at 8:14, and Warlords was the game right before it.

Wow! Such good memories. Well. Good & bad memories actually. The wise truth is that we all should focus on the good. Always.

Guys, who knows the side scrolling game from Atari 2600, with some private detective (?) as a main character? He is walking, jumping with the car)). I don't know the name of this game, and I still can't find it. Maybe you know? Thanks.

What's wrong with E.T.? I loved E.T. when I was 12 (I'm 13 and still love it). E.T. was one of the best games on the Atari, despite sales. People just didn't read the instructions. Seriously, all those people who say the game is virtually unplayable? Look up a picture of the instructions, and it won't be near as unplayable as you thought.

The game at 2:00 is Demon Attack. The full list is in the video description. Or if you view on a computer, you can turn on annotations and see the titles in the lower-left corner as you watch.

Wow that's so funny :-) Thnx a lot. I saw a comment here asking for the names so I thought they were missing.
I hate the annotations so I always keep it off.

Ah! 30 seconds into the video and I’m already remembering all these sounds. I feel my body stressing - some of these games were not easy!
