Well, I figured I might as well do a C64 one as well :)
I'm not 100% satisfied with this one though.. it's not as good as the Amiga one. The reason is that I made this one just after finishing the Amiga one and I was a little burnt out I guess.. got very sick of making this one almost right away.
It's stilld decent though so I hope some people can enjoy it at least :)
The soundtrack consists of these three songs, all by Instant Remedy -
Flimbo's Quest
Commando

From 1982 till 1990 I was glued to my chair as a kid, witnessing the birth of the gaming industry with my C64! ❤️🖖👍
Oh hey, i haven't seen you for a while
ahh we are from the same generation 83 here . and still gaming today great times back then . loved the c64 back then that my dad owned with a lot of pirated floppy`s and cassettes . and ofc with a lot of original games with there amazing box art
I hear that :)
C64 = pure love.
I never felt that kind of emotion with any other computer I own(ed).
Me too.. There is.. Emotions that tie me to the C64 (my first computer in 1985)
For me too. I played some great games. Paradroid was my favourite 😋
Me too XD
We used to pirate these games en-masse back in high school. Those were the days.
this is one of the first videos i saw
RIP friend!! i loved your gameplays and the shadow of the beast comparission
almost 6 years since you are gone
Oh man, those were the times. Thank you for this nostalgia trip!
Reading some of these comments really puts the whole argument that the overall gameplay of a game was what made these games so memorable and addictive. Being an 80's teen, I so enjoyed my game playing childhood. Even the music from the sid chip was so inspiring. With Martin Galway and others making these games so playable, just so I could hear the music again and again. Wizball. Haha, I didn't mind dying in that game, purely for the guitar riff. Awesome.
I miss the times when everything was so simple like Commodore and its games.
Sweet memories. I used to play Blue Max. #54. Legendary.
when i was a kid we had SNES and it was awesome.. now i'm 18 i'm curious about older games & game industry! it's fascinating how games have come from pac-man to nowadays
I am now software architect, but this was the beginning of all for me ... I was 7 and became this C64 for my Christmas present. This C64 did the same in the world as the intro of the Iphone as breaking point in history ... It was huge ... The SID music ship blows all away ... Tx Commodore for this brilliant ... gr from Holland
yeah. boulder dash, defenser of the crown, hours playing. inter karate and lot more not mentioning ocean games. these ones were loading much slower. and grand prix, olympic games and great creatures. there is lot more. microprose soccer, asterix, renegade..
Back in the times when games were made with passion and heart, there was no DLC bullshit, no online only playing, no bullshit corporate restrictions on selling and trading games .... Fuck modern gaming business.
C64 ruled in its day.
The Last Ninja was one of the best
I remember my grandfather when i was 6 years old buying this machine and me playing all day.. how many memories
Boulder Dash at 3:00, used to always play that in the library at grade school in the late 80's.
Thank you so much for this nostalgic memories in 10 mins!
I've just relived a major part of my childhood thanks to this. Brilliant video
Memories, oh my god so much good memories ! Thx for posting this !
freaking nostalgia...
i feel like if i touch my old commodore i would cry :(
Still playing most of them with my kids ;) on a real c64 , 1541II ;)
mikecios.. Mam na strychu 🙄 kiedyś muszę podłączyć
Nie kiedyś tylko jak najszybciej :D
Dobsze, Salute from cologne .the best is lazy Jones ,archon, and boulder dash .C64 :jest najlepszy
.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I spent most of my free time from 6th grade to through high school on my C64. And I almost never played games on it, except for games I made myself.
Computers were so much better back then. They did what you told them to, and they never did what you DIDN'T tell them to.
Absolutely one of the best machines ever invented.
Home Computers were amazing. I had friends with C64, Atari 800/XL, I had a TI994a. Those are some of the times I miss most in gaming and or having a computer. The game crashed happened and consoles took over. It was such a downgrade.
I put on this video sometimes just to listen to the soundtrack.
I miss the 80´s.
@saintsteve72
Those of us who got C64 machines at a young age back in the 80s were very lucky, I think... so many awesome memories! Nothing beats the feeling of nostalgia one gets from playing C64 games... I'm happy this video seems to trigger that feeling of nostalgia in people, that was the goal of making it :)
Out of the four 100 games in 10 minute videos I made, this one and the Amiga one are the two I definitely enjoyed making the most.
You can still buy C64 and play with. Its so cheap nowadays...
@@syntaxerror3669 Yup been playing it since the early 80's and never stopped. Been playing via emulators for the past 20 years now
@@syntaxerror3669 He's dead....
Yes and No
In 80's everything was harder. A
@@syntaxerror3669 He died like 3 years after he posted this comment.
That was a truly nostalgic experience. Thank you for giving me a chance to see some old favorites one more time.
Amazing. I knew every game except maybe 5 or so. Also, there are many games I hoped to see but weren't in the video. I think if you do a 30 minutes video you would still have plenty of choices for great games.
Thanks a bunch for this video, I LOVE it!
This is a great video to remind me of many classics that I had forgotten about!
I did notice that #53 (at 5:18) isn't Airborne Ranger.
Still greatly appreciate sharing this!
Its Army Moves right?!
I think it's missing Friday 13th. Loved that game!
0:48 i`ve never forget the 2 Player mode, that was great!
Agreed, played it with my little bro' when I was 10, play it with my daughter today! Long live the C64!!
I'm 34 now. I had hundreds of games for the C64. From this list I only remember Impossible Mission; International Karate; Barbarian: The Ultimate Warrior!!! (forgot about that one); Spy Hunter; Ghostbusters (with the weird VW Bug option); BC2: Grog's Revenge. Many of these I didn't play until the NES, and many others almost look like they are 16-bit games!
I had hundreds of games too and not a single one of these look familiar, I'm very confused
Damn I miss that commando music, that was some tense stuff.
Best compilation ever!
Brings me back to my childhood. Great games, but you forgot pitfall and river raid!!
One of the best video on YT. Thanks a lot Larry35 ;) Cool music and cool games on C64!!!
I never knew it had that type of graphics...I just remember Linking Logic and Tooth Invaders and Ernie's Magic Shapes.Wow....That Machine is a legend
The C64 and Amiga (and PCs of the time) had so much artistry in their games, almost pantomime like. Rare to find games with such panache nowadays, they're all so serious and risk free. LucasArts come back!
It's the reason why I perfer the C64 and the Amiga at the time compared to consoles, we saw a lot of games that just didn't happen on consoles, it's also great that you could do other things that are not gaming related on them, hence why I'm a PC gamer today, always like being able to do more then just game on them and having a bigger selection of games to choose from that are so diffrent.
Totally agree. The C64 had so many memorable games and The Secret of Monkey of Island on the Amiga was classic.
That musis is so catching 🎶🎵thank you & for this trip back in time!
amazing!!! so long ago, but seeing this just brings it back as if yesterday. nicely done!
WOW... after a half second i know the most game titels. I loved the c64. Gaming and programming too.
yeah i know half titles too. i remember i played half of them.
How many years could the comodore 64 be considered NOT obslete? Some of this games have graphics that look pretty impresive for the time to me o.0
***** Classics never obslete friend:) it's like best quality old French, İtalian, Greek, Turkish, İranian wine (whatever.. :) ) or Classical concert (whatever again :)) ) I think this type of games gain more and more popilarty in time..
FuckYouGoogle - oh no, that’s so sad. He seemed like a great dude
Thanks for posting this, so many memories
that brought back some memories, Zak McKracken FTW!
best personal computer ever
To me it's a tossup between my C64 and my Amiga 500. . Both of course by Commodore.
The game at 2:43 reminds me of Super Mario Brothers for the Nintendo Entertainment System.
yes.. it's a clone.. "the great gianna sisters"..:)
Nintendo sued and had all copies recalled from stores. Party pooper's if you ask me.
It should, the company that wrote it was sued by Nintendo and forced to withdraw it from the shelves. The game was extremely popular though, and widely pirated. I had a hack version that changed the sprites to look like Super Mario Bros.
I had a C64 for years and a ton of games for it, but I only owned 3 that were on this list. There were just SO MANY DAMN GAMES for the thing.
Ho! Marvelous video with so many games I played.. you even had the very very first game I had on the C128 ! Airborne Ranger !!
Thank you
I loved my c64
load"*",8,1
run
ALT: load"*",8,8
I had a pirated version of Archon.. Instead of run it was sys 24832 - one of the best games ever.
I was hoping for Raid Over Moscow and Beachhead. You can't put 'em all in, I guess. :)
64738
Rival X mach 28?
Rival X do you have Twitter? A lot of the retro guys gave Twitter.
Disks? Fancy
I laughed out loud at 3:54 when I recognised the music as a dance remix of Commando... awesome. Thanks for making this video!
DUDE you rock for this. Also helped me remember more titles for my raspberry pi to run
Hienoja träkkejä :)
On tosi ku ois itelläki commodore Vittu!
20 : combat School
and 53 IS NOT Airborne Ranger
53 is Army Moves.
I thought 20. looked like a bit too gnarly game of M.U.L.E. :D
Wow, thanks for the flash-back!! I learned my first programing language on Commodore64!! Amazing console!!
@ 4:19 I totally remember that game. Donald Duck did odd challenges to earn money to build a playground for his nephews! Oh wow, that was so long ago when floppy disks were actually floppy! Also the game @ 9:08 the last boss always scared me as a kid. You had to wait for the lightning to fire an arrow at him but if you wait too long he gets too close and you're history. Thanks so much for the nostalgia!
I just bought a Commodore 64, its funny to use.
10 PRINT "HELLO"
20 GOTO 10
Welcome my fellow programmer =D
LOAD"Name",8 searching for loading and RUN
Metin Yilmaz Load "name",8,1
Wow this brings back some memories for sure. Plenty of games I've forgotten about over the years! I remember playing a big portion of these back in the day. :)
Ah! Those were the days! Thanks for this upload, man!
Missing Paperboy
+Rik Rok And Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends!
Ghostbusters was the shit! You'd wait an hour for it to load, then it would crash and flash mad random colours on the screen, then you'd have a seizure on the floor. Good days
didn't it ask you for social security number too??
omg...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....its so funny because its true. I miss my commodore though
True true hahahhahha
Now that a gaming experience these kids today with their photo realism graphics will ever understand.
I never had that problem with Ghostbusters! But I would leave it on the splash screen through the entire song and hit spacebar to make it say, "GHOSTBUSTERS!!" over and over again.
Lovely Video laffer!, a great trip back into the 80's there.
So many good games on the c64 and this is maybe just 1 % of em :)
Amazing - just freaking amazing! Thx for this trip down memory lane.
Please make a new video showing the names for the games.
Unfortunately that won't be possible. He committed suicide in April 2015.
...and if you turn on annotations, it shows the game names
that is sad
anybody else think that the C64 is the best gaming platform?
I have a c64 emulator :)
Umm... yeah about 36 years ago
thank you. that was amazing. I remember most of the games. we used to be huge into the 64. miss those days.
Awesome compilation!
Look what developers did with only 64 KB of RAM
More impressive is that I think they could only use about 32KB of memory because the rest was for basic.
@@paul1979uk2000 You could disable basic and access the memory area. on the C64, you had 64 K of RAM, but the ROM was mapped to some address ranges. You could disable the ROM and the address interval was now referring to RAM. It was a single flag in a location on page zero, IIRC.
Better than the NES
on par with snes though
wobedraggled lol
Yeah, I'm gonna have to say no on that.
Well certainly for the music alone it was better.
The NES had five channels while the C64 had 3. However, the NES could only play one single channel at a time, giving it a MONAURAL sound, while the SID chip could play ALL THREE channels at once, and even at times (depending on who made the music, make it sound as if there were MORE than three channels, a true FM Synth sound.
I Identify As A Commodore 64 Since I'm An Old Fart.
Dont challange the console peasants!!!! It will be pitch forks and torches for you!
I am of course JOKING. I've had both consoles and pc since forever. some of my earliest memories are of me playing on old pc's like amigas, comodores and Zx spectrum type of consoles and of course nes and snes and so on. cheers!
Awesome! I had such a visceral reaction to some of these games when they popped up in the video. I could almost SMELL the 80s!! :D
This video takes me back :) Added straight to the fave list.
That "kinda music" you decided to use as bgm ruined the clip, IMHO.
Old memories (and a potential nice videoclip) ruined.
And I wont to mute it to watch it.
It was awesome. You have no soul
disliked in the first 2 seconds, wanted to hear the soundtracks of the games not some rubbish music instead
Rubbish music? Still 3 of the best c64 tunes...
jolie1407
He means the ORIGINAL SIDs, not shitty REMIXES like is on this video
mbtemlett The original sids are unbeatable, no doubt about it. Still, the remixes are very much decent. Just check out remix64 community for example. A lot of talented guys do a great job experimenting with good old classic sids 😊
"wanted to hear the soundtracks of the games not some rubbish music instead" such a snowflake
Great vid. Man, there are some classics in there I haven't seen in ages - Montezuma's Revenge, Barbarian, BC's Quest for Tires... a few others I can't name, but fun to see in any case.
Now that was a great show! Thanks for uploading.
Thank you for sharing this. What a walk down memory lane :)
Lovely vid. Trip down memory lane.
Ah this brings back so many pleasant memories, good job! :)
Great that you put the names of the games. A lot of memories :)
This just brings tears to my eyes, so many good memories in here
I remember about 80% of the games on this post, great vid, takes me back a bit! Must be my age that I can remember stuff like this and not family birthdays, where I put my keys and other important stuff! lol
Ahh, sweet childhood nostalgia!
Nailed a good top 100. Would have loved to see Caveman Games Ugh-Olympics, Slugger and maybe even Save New York make the 100. Just some personal fav's.
Good Vid!!
Thanks for the upload. Great memories lol
awesome video man. And you ended with the best game of all! It;s amazing to see all those games. It always made me laugh though when I look back at some of the commodore games. Some look really pre historic and dead basic, while others looked as if they would of easily rivalled consoles in the early 90's. It's almost as if the developers had a more powerful machine under their fingers than they first realised, and later built games to the full potential. Great machine. Still have mine
Archon, Ultima, International karate, Barbarian, Boulder dash, ... No current game on console can compete with these.
An amazing trip down memory lane!
What a great video. Thanks for putting that together.
Gaming has come a loooooong way, get's me excited for what's still left for the future.
I had fun guessing some of these. I LOVED the C64 as a kid! It was the first computer our family got & my brother & I & cousins & friends used to have the best fun playing it and of course copying 'deskettes' from our buddies & buying 1 sided disks & cutting out another hole to make them double sided. :P I still play the old games now and then :)
Thanks for bringing back those old memories. C64 really revolutionized the whole myth of computers, at that tiem. Now EVERYBODY was able to own a computer and learn Basic ...very cool ...
Awesome to see Tusker get a mention! Loved the music from that game.
Nostalgic, but wow how far we have come with games. In saying that nothing can beat pitstop. The tyre burst was hilarious!!!!!
I recognized 19 of 100.... Not bad. Many of those remembered were long forgotten memories. Thanks for the vid!!
Awesome work !
Nice music! (and selection)
thank you for taking me back
Raid Over Moscow, M.U.L.E., Music Shop and Strip Poker I was expecting to see. But this was a nice walk down memory lane.
Yeah, I was really stunned at how these videos took off!
I have to say this is my first time seeing commodore gameplay lol and this is awesome I can't get over the graphics and all that from a cassette lol now I want one lol
I'm glad these are spread 5 seconds apart, so when a label shows right arrow will fast forward to the next game, left arrow to the previous game.
05:58 Race Destruction Set. I had never even heard of this game, I'm not at the time of the Commodore, but when I saw in these video I was sure that Rock and Roll Racing was inspired by him.
Raid on Bungeling Bay, it took me a few moments to remember that Name. Such a thrilling game, i still love it!
Love it. Thanks for the memories. Forgot about impossible mission!
