An underestimated edge to Letnev is that their huge starting resources means they can take the double technology action turn one of round one. Want to start the game with Gravity Drive and Neural Motivator? Done. You can now take a double sized slice of the pie immediately and get extra action cards to hold it round two. Or any other combo you care for. If you use this to take tech spec planets you can tech race better than anyone but Jol Nar, and with a combat advantage instead of their massive weakness.
can they re roll dice in round 2 of combat. so lets say they spent 2 trade goods at the start of first combat and re rolled ultiple dice in the round but players have ships surving, can they then spend another 2 trade goods at the start of the second round to re roll again?
@@RulebreakerBoardgames ahhh ok, we had some discrepencise our last game, it seems slightly over powered tbh since you can get trade goods everytime you sustain damage with the expansion add on and then use those trade goods to re roll during that same combat in the next round
when you say, "Can buy 8 units." you mean can buy 8 dreadnoughts" or "you have 8 resource points to spend on a combo of DN, Carriers, IN, etc..." you say the same thing in several of the other videos & wanted to clarify.
I am so confused on the combat die rolls. I watched you roll 4 die, get 2 0's, 1 3 and 1 8.. for a destroyer with a combat of 9.. but only the 0's hit and the 3 & 8 didn't? Why is that? All the die were under 9 and especially the 3. In combat do only 0's hit and the combat # is the number of die you roll? But it can't be since destroyer combat is 9 and you rolled 4 die. I just don't understand.
When you roll to hit, you must reach the number for the ship firing or higher. In the case of the Destroyer, you must get a 9 or a 0 on the die to hit. Likewise, a Cruiser needs to to roll a 7 or higher to hit. Basically, the higher the number on your ship's combat stat, the harder it is for it to hit enemy ships.
honestly i find the Barony very mediocre. Armada basically gives you +2 Command tokens into the Fleet Pool. Nekro using the passive of a Techology loses 1 CT to gain 3. done broke even Sol gets a CT after every Round so at Round3 they break even and profit after that. Arborec and Saar save tokens for production every round. etc. beeing able to reroll dice with a big attack is however a very nice ability. getting maybe 1/3 more hits then average in round1 before a retreat can happen.
They've got great military prowess, but they also tend to get ganged up on by multiple players who see them as a threat. They feel nicely balanced when playing.
Their pay to reroll thing is really nice but most people don't want to trade with the barony because they will be a menace. Usually you have to bully people into trading with you.
Finally, a breakdown of my go-to faction, the Barony of Letnev.
Giving a whole new meaning to the term 'gunboat diplomacy'.
Playing TI4 for the first time tomorrow with my brothers' family. I decided Barony of Letnev would be my first go around. thanks for the video. :)
@4:00 when discussing barony reroll, I think they can reroll any number of dice from multiple ship types. "Combat round" includes all ships firing.
Correct. You also have to make this decision before rolling

If you sustain on your flagship you need to make sure all direct hits have been accounted for or you have a sabotage in hand.
Barony of latenev review (for people who don’t understand well)
Looks (4/10)
Military (9/10)
Trade (5/10)
Expansion (8/10)
Very helpful bro!
Dreadnought has capacity? Thought that was an upgrade
That 1 capacity can go a long way in a pinch.
@@jonathanlane444 I was thinking of TI3

@@RulebreakerBoardgames so the 0 represents 10, not actually 0? I can understand it from that perspective
@@glorfac Yup, the 0 on a 10-sided die rarely represents 0.

Yeah I want to like them more, but they have let me down a few times.
Sounds overpowered!
They've got great military prowess, but they also tend to get ganged up on by multiple players who see them as a threat. They feel nicely balanced when playing.
Also remember that the enemy can always score a direct hit on you, so using your capital ship as a massive shield is not a surefire plan
Nah this race is not OP they are a late game race tbh
