Beautiful song. I remember buying it one Saturday morning from our price records in town. I'd bought it for my first girlfriend when we was in middle school. I was always buying her top 40 songs back then. so many great songs from that era that bring back nice memories. Hard to believe that's now 30 years ago.

Their harmonies are so Everly Brothers, with a bit of Simon and Garfunkel thrown in for good measure. Which figures, since the the Everlys were a major influence on the latter duo’s vocal stylings (who early on called themselves Tom and Jerry).
The 2 singers on this song said when they were writing this song that they missed in music the sound of 2 voices and a guitar like they used to hear by - Drum Roll Please - The Everly Brothers & Simon & Garfunkel. You hit it dead on with who influenced them for this song.

I actually was really excited that, for once, someone didn't do the video version. The non-video version is usually the full album version which has the really beautiful harmony part (starting around 5:00 in this reaction video) that you don't get in the video version. This version has a different ending too, and I find it more appealing.
I recorded this song off the radio six months before it hit big and tried to share it with my friends. They all ignored me and then all tried to tell me about it when MV started pumping it.
My first visit to your splendid site and prompted by the beautiful song played. I'm now an instant fan! If allowing the music to play rather than halting/talking over the tune, you wait until it's played out and THEN tell why it moves you so. This is a joy to watch/listen to and a woman's critique is so essential in songs and life in general. I will admit to 'stumbling' onto your site quite by chance - lucky me eh? VBW x

Saw Extreme live in 1992 as support for Bryan Adams at Wembley Stadium London. Was at Bryan adams concert in Belfast last night 29/52/22 a mere 30 years later.

People that bought the album because they heard this song and Hole Hearted on the radio were likely very surprised, the rest of the album is completely different. Good songs are Decadent Dance, When I’m President, and Get the Funk Out.
If only I had the words to tell you Angela how beautiful you look in this clip, especially your hair looks so nice. I recall this song came out when I was in the 5th or 6th grade and there was a girl I was hard core crushing on an this song to this day makes me think of that time in my life.
Their album "III Sides to Every Story" is their best album and amazing from start to finish.

You need to listen to Linda Ronstadt's "Different Drum". I love all her songs but this one has really catchy lyrics and rhythm.

Procession & The Story in Your Eyes - The Moody Blues. - When the album came out I was advised to listen to the 1st two songs together as "Procession" sounds like an introduction to "The Story In Your Eyes". - As you can see others thought so too and posted them together. "Procession" takes you around the world in different genres and in time. Then you ROCK to The Story In Your Eyes". - "Procession" puts the mood in Moody Blues. - One those greats from the 70's.

Always liked this one too, but getting back to your Carpenters reactions which BTW I love, you should give a listen some of the lesser lesser know tunes like "All You Get from Love is a Love Song".."Love Me for What I Am"..."Beachwood 45789" and "Touch Me When We're Dancing". Just be beware in the last 2 songs I mention Karen looks painfully thin in those videos but still HER VOICE is absolutely phemonal. Those were probably the last videos she filmed. RIP KC. 🙏 😇🌷

They were short lived but left this masterpiece. Gary Cherone left to join Van Halen it that didn’t last long. Haven’t heard anything else from him worth mentioning,. The guitarist however is well known

Extreme were (are?) a great band who copped a lot of sneering, I suspect from guys bothered by the band's, and especially Nuno Bettencourt's good looks. Get the Funk Out and this one are so different!

How could you have never heard this? This song pretty much ruined this band. They were great.
This song was fucking everywhere for a little while. I hated it before I totally understood the message of the song, and then I hated it even more after.
The point of 'More Than Words' is that it’s not enough to say that you love someone. In interviews, the members of the band would claim that “More Than Words” was really about how the word love gets diluted through overuse. But it’s not too hard to read between the lines on that one and for me the song plays out as a kind of horny, passive-aggressive simper, a sweaty attempt to close the deal. It’s also some kind of landmark in the field of fake sensitivity.
Very pleasant and clever but, if you listen carefully you realise this is a very misogynistic song.
