Yes indeed, I think we are all happy that you are back in the saddle!
Great piece to have in the garage arsenal- just completed stripping a classic down to bare metal
They work great!
Thanks Man, Game Changer & Cheap!!!
Thanks-will try a few for metal prep.
Thanks for the video. Will they deburr tubing cut-offs, etc.?
I use those alot Kyle.. great for cleaning up stainless for me...
I use them alot I stripped most of my Cortina with them, thanks for sharing
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR. The smaller ones. I am using it on cultured marble, (long story). Perfect. Thank you!!!! I just ordered a pack.
I need to use some on a granite hearth to remove cooked-on carbon. Did yours scratch the marble surface?
I'm definitely getting some of those
Been using them for years, best thing I found for removing rust and old paint.
Great tip!
I'm restoring a 60s 3 point brush mower with old fashioned durable paint, and some light rust do these work better than a normal flap disc?
@@GraniteStateBackcountry Yes.The only short coming on these is if you are in a tight spot and there are sharp metal edges it will eat them up.
They will make fast work of light rust and prep the metal surface for paint or primer at the same time.
I use them on my Milwaukee cordless.I like the 2” wheels better than the 3”.
Good luck!
I love it !
You can get these in 7” discs. I put them on my makita sander/polisher and they are unreal. You need to try them they work that good and they clean quicker than the ones you just showed on here. Cheers all the way from Australia
Nice to see the it’s Friday fool is back and enjoy your channel
thanks
Looks like a good piece of kit. I need to strip down a metal hand rail and the smaller discs may be better at reaching the tight spots. What type of grinder do you recommend, angle or die? Semper FI, Ken
Let’s see how they work. I just ordered them.
Trying to get latex paint off a concrete floor. Wondering if it would work?
These are commonly referred to as Rapid Strip discs and come in black (which is silicon carbide grain) and the purple (3M) or orange (Blaze from Norton) are a ceramic grain. They are not all the same and often times the black construction does not hold up any where close to the premium ones shown in the video. The other issue with cheaper versions that you might find at swap meets or HF is the strength of the plastic hub that secures it to the holder. They'll either break at the "screw" or completely detach from the disc, either way, you'll have a 20,000 rpm projectile in your shop. Light pressure is all that's needed and they do a great job of removing mill scale from cold rolled steel. I put Wurth in the business of selling these discs under their private label back in the 1990's.
How are these for aluminum? I'm looking at cleaning up the gasket surface of an intake manifold for an engine, thinking these would be great if they don't damage the aluminum
In a pinch you can find these at HF, HD or Lowe’s. And any welding shop.
I bought a set after watching you use them on that first video. These things work pretty good. I have a 96 F150 with the xl package. Im coating my ugly painted bumpers in raptor bed liner. I got both the small ones for a drill and a couple of the angle grinder larger ones. It stripped the paint and surface rust off in no time. I though it was going to take me hours to get to a primer ready surface. Close to 30 mins a bumper and they are ready to go. Thanks for showcasing these, they saved me a bunch of time and effort.
thats awesome. I love them
Thanks for the link! Ordered a bag. Wurth is ridiculously overpriced! Used them at work for a couple years until management wized up. Good to see ya doing this!
Glad I could help!
How does this compare to a flap disc when removing rust?
Can they be used to remove varnish from wood?
Hey Kyle, great to see you back in the Friday segments and just some feedback, and only because you seem like a guy who is a bit of a perfectionist. Your sound has some echo on the finished videos. I'm sure it's a work in progress so not digging at you man! Other than that I dig this product It is also really good on removing powder coat quickly for area's that need work or cleaning after the fact. Keep up the great work!
yeah the space I shoot in has an echo...need to figure it out
It's Friday 😎
It really makes Friday to hear Friday fool
Tried to strip the paint on an angle iron trailer and the wheels dont last more than a couple mins, especially if you graze the edge, which is enivitable.
can it be used on aluminum for surface prep with water stains or stripping paint?
I would think so
Yes an older video, but those disks are amazing. If you need to remove rust and paint, nothing better in my opinion. And I have tried basically everything I've seen. But these disks are above all others...
👍👍
NEED....more...ran out a while back...
