Thank you to the person who made it clear how Fish hatcheries and hatchery fish systems work Usually once the hatchery obtains there are a lot of broodstock they will open the gates for the rest of the fish to continue

I do not understand how this is even legal. It’s so clearrrrrrrrr that it’s causing an issue. You should reach out to the news for a report.

I’ll hit them up for sure. But they seem to never give af what I say to be completely honest. They didn’t even hit me back when I sent them a hour of footage of butte creek after the PG&E dam breached onto endangered spring run chinook

After a ten year fight to remove the dam on the Elwah River on the Olympic Peninsula in WA State is finally running free. The steelhead and salmon are returning to their native spawning grounds. Local wildlife has also returned.
The Lower Elwah Klallam Tribe along with the National Park Service achieved what locals thought was impossible. The dam was removed and life returned to native lands. I highly recommend reading the story about the restoration of the Elwah River. Removing dams can be done!

Thank you for posting this. This is the biggest concern I have with California. It drives me insane to know that they just let them die. I’ve been wanting to do something for years, so I’m happy that you are. If you need any help, please hit me up on here and I will do everything in my power to help you.

I live near this place the fish most of them are tring to return to the hatchery . Most are hatchery fish the rest of the tributary can not produce the fish necessary to sustain the run. Not enough spawning ground for so many fish. Thanks to your flood control and need for power. Hatchery fish is the only way left to keep salmon from going the way of the dodo bird . You want to help the salmon stop building on the natural flood plain . There are dams that kill massive spawning grounds that barely produce power like Dwarshak dam outside Orefino Idaho it's sole purpose is for flood control for portland oregon so the sky scrapers along the river won't flood look it up if you don't believe it's true. Funny part is most of the hatchery are funded by fishing tags for salmon sad but true

10000000000000% agree. And the hardest part is we saw so many people. And only me and my gf were like “ this is depressing “ everyone else was throwing rocks and laughing and making fishing jokes. It made me lose alittle hope ngl

This is not right. Where is the ladder for salmon to reach their spawning grounds. Their instincts and Gods plan was for them to spawn upriver.

  • @user-fy3bz6gk5u

You people that have no idea about what salmon do are almost funny. If they were to spawn they would die. The teason they are going back to the hatchery is that is where they were born. Salmon return to the place they were born about 4 years from when they were born. They go to the Pacific Ocean until time to return to spawn. Sooo people these salmon are not to get all excited about since they came from a hatchery.

Though I agree with your assertion that dam removal, opening up natural spawning habitats etc, is the true remedy…the reality is that it will never happen…if we are to retain any Chinook Salmon, it will be done thru the hatcheries…it’s sad, but an unfortunate fact

Well the salmon are already return to the Klamath system after removal of the dams, so I think you are incorrect. And hatcheries are not the long term solution, with more problems than they are supposed to fix

California politics. The Resnicks are in control of water flow as they are One of Gavin newson's biggest donors. They want all the water to flow to Central California AKA the valley and the salmon are inconsequential to them.
