Jon, I just finished watching the entire video. Wow!! Very methodical and precise. You're amazing and I appreciate the hanging brackets. I didn't notice them until I got home and was wondering what I was going to put it. Once I noticed them, I immediately found the perfect spot to hang it on the wall. So, again, I appreciate the amazing work of art you've created for me that will last a lifetime.JT
Hi Jon! I know this is an older video but it’s still great content, thanks for sharing! I also see that we are/were neighbors. I’m in the Great Bridge area. 👊🏽
@@GyWO10 "Hit that subscribe button!" I have actually gotten a lot better since this video. Check out some of my other creations. And I seem to be famous for leaving my mistakes in the video. LOL
Joshua, I just get mine at Home Depot .093 works fine and is super easy to cut. I only use this for custom shaped boxes. All square boxes I use glass. the .093 usually fits most shapes I cut and its just under 40 dollars. Thanks Jon
Jon, Love the Texas shaped shadow box. I am Disabled Veteran of OIF I and III. I was wondering if this shadow box is something that you would make again and if so how much would you charge? I have looked at many Ideas and this is amazing. Way too complicated for me to do due to shaky hands. Let me know and message me with prices. @ juan perez
Jon, I know you are inedited with this question but..any suggestions on a shadow box in the shape of NC. I retired from the Navy at Camp Lejeune NC and then got into law enforcement. I want to make a NC shadow box for my Major who is retiring from the force. I have a little experience but any suggestions or tips would be appreciated. Thanks
Jeff, I would make NC just like the Texas shadow box but I would not stack the wood. I would simply join pieces while they are on their sides. A lot of straight-aways with NC so I think it would be easy.
Jon, I have a question about a custom box I will be making (since everyone I've asked for a price is out of my range). It will have an arch at the top. Any best suggestions to do that and get the plexiglass in there? I've already picked your brain about a few things. let me know if you want to take this off line to discuss
A. Do me a favor and make a quick sketch of what you are referring to. I will tell you how I probably would do it. Shoot to me @ jonsdiy@gmail.com Thanks Jon
You are amazing being able to make this,, I had my Shadow box made for me by a friend of mine that was a seabee but it wasn't anything near as nice as this is
Barry, thanks a million for the nice comment. Seabees make big things, if you want a bridge call a Seabee. If you want a shadowbox call an anal retentive cryptologist... lol. Hit that subscribe button.
Danny, yes I did this 4 years ago. Don't think your the first to lecture me on wearing gloves... lol... take the time to watch other videos, I no longer wear gloves when I cut. I have been chastised. Thanks for your comment. Jon
Andy, yes you are so correct. I have been lectured a 100 times by my viewers. If you subscribe you will see in other videos I no longer wear gloves while cutting. I actually do listen to my viewers :-) . Like I said in my intro, I am an amateur and learn as I go. Thanks for you comment.
Stephanie, I have no idea. I make this stuff up as I go along. seldom do I measure. But if you scroll down to the JT Fears post (the one with the American flag) and ask him, its on his wall right now maybe he could tell you. Sorry Jon
JT, I noticed that I got one thumbs down on this video. I'm hoping that it was not due to the quality of my work but that the individual was just not a Dallas Cowboy fan! LOL!
Luchace, I don't follow? Please elaborate what you mean. This entire project cost me $80.00 This is a DIY site. No one wants to spend over $600 on a shadow box when they can build a custom shape themselves for under $100.

Impressive Jon.
Great shadow boxes! Do you have recommendation on a nice crystal clear plexiglass? I can't seem to find any that aren't giant sheets and over 60$.

I retire this year in Aug. I have been looking for something like this for myself. Would you consider doing another box?
Beautiful
Very well done!
On a lighter note, Colorado and Wyoming ought to be a breeze after this one.... ;) lol
+KSFWG, you are so correct why couldn't he have been a Broncos fan! Thanks for the compliment.
I live in CO and was thinking the very same thing!! Mine's just a square! hahaha!

What type of glue do you use to attach the foam board to the backboard?
Just the basic Elmer's wood glue that I used to stack the wood with. amzn.to/3qU5Y6K
Bad Ass! How would you do Michigan and it’s Upper Peninsula?
That would be really cool. I would make to separate shadow boxes and then join them together with dowels.
Awesome.

This is really well done. I cringe when I see gloves being used during the saw use, but otherwise amazing.

@@JONSDIY sorry man, yeah people do the same to my videos. Kudos for replying!
It only takes one tooth of that blade to grab those gloves and turn your fingers into hamburger - think about it.

Do you make these to sell?
When I have the time. I don't do this for a living.
Hey can you post the dimensions of your box please.

lol. I'm hoping the same, because the work was exquisite...and it still hangs on my wall as a pure piece or art. I'm forever grateful :)
Thanks!
First get $600 in a pile to buy Ribbon Mahogany.
